  1. First MLBAtBat notification on Giolito. They usually wait until after the 6th.
  2. Grandall reqlly struggling. I expect he’ll be behind the plate tomorrow but if he doesn’t improve, maybe a break on Thursday if we get there.
  3. Holy balls...gun to my head, if I could pick one Chicago team to win and the other to lose today, I'd definitely want the Bears to win. But that was an ugly 2nd half. Mitch has played 3/8 quarters good so far this year. Meh, but I'm not sold one way or the other yet. The defense has played...3/8 quarters good so far this year? That unit was supposed to anchor this team, and so far it's more concerning than anchoring.
  4. Awfully close play in my opinion...but can't fault the refs. Definitely some contact before the ball got there.
  5. Eddie Jackson! Wait, penalty marker...damnit.
  6. More frustrating than ever...literally.
  7. Well, that interception isn't on Trubisky. But now this is really a game.
  8. Tying run at the plate...when it's Eloy, anything can happen.
  9. I can't believe we're losing 5-0 when we have three hits and they have one. That's ridiculous.
  10. Just briefly saw that someone got thrown out? Who and for what?
  11. 7th walk. Get him out and give us a chance. He's the worst version of himself today.
  12. That was an outstanding play, and congrats to Mooney on his first TD.
  13. I just laughed when I saw just now that there were no hits. Feels like the Reds are dominating him. He may not get out of the 4th, but will leave the bullpen with a no-hitter.
  14. It really was. Put it in the one spot that Miller had an 80% chance to catch it and the defender had a 0% chance. Too bad he couldn't bring it in.
  15. Trubisky looked pretty good on that first drive...the decision that led to the TD doesn't seem like something he'd have pulled off last year.
  16. I’m unfamiliar with this. Where can I find it? YouTube?
  17. Yeah, I don’t know...what about a sort of hybrid? Pair him with a guy like Dunning (completely different type of pitcher) and ask them both to go 3ish innings every 5 days. Try to work them in on their bullpen day between starts for an inning or two in relief. I’m sure there’s plenty of reasons that wouldn’t work, otherwise the Rays would be doing it. But I was still intrigued by my own idea!
  18. Interesting...I don’t usually pull this card, but: I’m in the United States military (which you’ve already invoked...are you?). I was one of the first “asked” to deploy in the COVID environment in May. I was not given an option to opt out, and neither were my teammates. Had I not gone, it’s possible that the person I was to replace would have stayed much longer this his/her standard tour. I traveled on commercial air and military air that might as well have been commercial. Once I arrived, things were probably safer here than in the US, although that wasn’t clear at the time. More importantly, I left my wife and two children at home to navigate a global pandemic on their own. Had we had been given the option to opt out, I think I would have gone anyway...after all, no one volunteers for military service based on the guaranteed safety measures. Would have been a difficult decision though. But I would never, NEVER disparage a teammate for opting out when he/she had the chance. And I damn well wouldn’t talk bad about a fellow service member WHO I DIDNT EVEN KNOW about the decision he/she made. I’m confident you don’t know what it’s like to be part of a team. Because when you’re part of a team, you understand that a teammate’s personal/family life take precedence over the team. Even, when possible, when you’re a teammate in the US military. SO MUCH MORE SO than when you’re a teammate playing a game. I’m so tired of this. So many people think they have a right answer in a situation that doesn’t lend itself to right answers, then they impose their opinion (note: not right answer) on everyone who disagrees. It’s so ignorant, which is so tiring. Chaneling Jason, go puck yourself, assuming you’re a hockey fan. Otherwise...
  19. I could get on board with 12 playoff teams. Three division winners, then the next three best records regardless of division. And you can't play a team in your division in the first round. But yeah, 16 is too many.
  20. They haven't lost more than two games in a series against the Indians and Twins all season, I don't see any reason why that's going to change. The probabilities have them splitting both series. They'll split or better at least one, book it.
