You just had to know the home run derby to replace extra innings bullshit was coming and now it's in the the pioneer league. There is only 1 person in all of sports I wish to see croak more than reinsdorf and it's manfred. Someone really needs to get on this.

I think Yermin is going to have a high babip anyway just on account of all of the tough pitches he fights off for singles. It seems like a lot of pitches which other guys swing through or pop straight up he fights off and dumps into the short OF grass especially up the middle. He's also had a couple doc edwards shots and a few IF hits which maybe teams can take away by positioning differently. Personally I think the longer he hangs around and the more comfortable he becomes the more he will take a pitch here and there and make himself more dangerous. I do expect the pull power to show up a bit more.

LOL if Yerminator is going to eat 4 of those burgers then he's going to have to take a pretty big dumpinator. Here's a prayer for the clubhouse that the bathroom fans are powerful enough for the task.

What happened to Garrett Crochet's fastball?

Dialed down GC is still one of the top pen lefties in all of baseball. I'm not going to criticize the Sox over him because he pitched basically nothing last year in college and only threw at the alt site and a few MLB IP which of course ended in an injury scare. I think you can criticize the Sox a lot about the service time issue but not about being overly cautious. I think they have to be. I will guess he's in a role next season similar to Kopech's role this season and is targeted as a full-time SP in 2023. That would be his last prearb year I believe. -
Damn it Ruiz no walks.
-
I was going to but decided not to since he was a FA and I was thinking more about Sox guys but yes, he also has looked way better than I thought he was going to be.
-
The same guy who has been there since ST. I only remember one really bad outing and that was when TLR wanted him to go longer. It's clear he's a 1IP guy but he's nice to have at the front of a pen.
-
Between Yermin, Collins, and Ruiz, the ST roster bubble guys have really raised their stock up to this point.

At this pace of 9 innings pitched over 21 games that is about 69.1 IP for the year. At that rate I am not sure you can ever start him. Maybe next year. Maybe the plan is like 60-70 IP regular season and up to 10 IP playoffs.
-
Hey BTW is anyone all angry and pissed off that this game is so long that they're ready to start a planning session to stop such things from ever happening again and are totally willing to shut down baseball for a half season or more if necessary to cut it short? I'm not. It's just fine to me.
-
I'm definitely not looking forward to Fry returning. TLR is going to try to turn him into a 1+ innings guy and there's enough ⛽in the pen already.

Ive seen somewhere his curve rated as the best in the minors for the Sox. The change I have seen look filthy too. But the fastball is usually pretty straight and he's struggled to command it. In the minors he could get outs that way but not in MLB. He has a lot of traits you look for and is still a guy I want to keep. When a guy has potential and option years remaining you don't just dump him at low value. But it is very clear he needs to get stronger and get a lot more reps in. The change is new to him and really he was a multi sport athlete from a cold weather state so it might take a little while. He's one of the Sox guys who was hurt the most missing a MiLB season last year.

I still like Stiever a lot if he can get his velocity back. The fastball control was better this time at least. I still don't know why we saw him up over Lambert.
-
His ceiling is somewhere about Verlander who of course won a Cy Young and MVP in the same year so yeah. Thanks Boston.
-
IMO hopefully Keuchel's after the season. I think the Sox have him on a limit no matter what and are hoping to prep him for the playoffs. But who knows?
-
If he stops playing like shit then I will. If he doesn't then I won't. It's up to him.

Shitty defense and baserunning and shitty throws and feeds from an up the middle player are inexcusable. TA had a lot of people after him too but the difference was that people could see TA's tools whereas Nick doesn't have those kinds of tools at all.
-
I like putting that in the scouting report. This is the kind of game we can fuck around a bit if we want. Texas is probably going to pitch a position player the way this is going.
-
Edit: double post. These ads will be the death of me.
-
I've seen enough of his speed to wish he just not run. Nice play Eaton.
-
If he can play a quality fundamental game he will be a good enough starting player. He's had a good couple games in a row.
-
Man I wish we could face pitchers like this every game. We'd win everything by slaughter rule. Man TX pitching fucking sucks.
-
Kopech is the future ace of this team it's so clear and obvious.
-
His head is probably so hard that if he slammed it directly into the bag he'd just dislodge the bag and stand right up. Wouldn't even need an advil.

Len's dumb jokes aren't longer than 1 sentence and usually are about 1 word long, and his JBSIP (jokes plus bullshit per inning played) is still under 1.00, whereas Benetti ducks around all game long and drags Stone entirely out of his element. It's like Mariano Rivera vs. Sox Billy Koch for comparison. If we just want a joker then let's just bring back Bill Walton. At least that guy is funny.
