  1. Tony has about a 4 hour window between about 7am when he shakes off the worst of the hangover and about 11am when he's back to slurring his speech. If his appointed handlers like Rick Hahn for instance can get him into that court around 9 then I think they've got this. Just wait til the judge sees that ring!
  2. IMO it's even worse if we specifically are going to hold back on signing FAs until we make sure TLR and his coaching staff will greenlight them. Sox chain of command may have added a new link between GM and ownership which has one hand on the bottle and the other on the killswitch.
  3. Yeah that "when LaRussa doesn't intervene" part has me more than a little worried. Not even kidding, bringing TLR in could be kind of like doing that Tatis Jr for Shields deal again in terms of the overall impact against the organization if he is allowed to make decisions.
  4. So then who changes the britches? Hahn or his bench coach?
  5. It won't happen because 2 of the most stubborn old crusty baseball men in the game happen to be the Sox owner and new manager. Neither will budge. But if it did, it's the Sox: Paulie, Thome, Getz, maybe Rowand if he wanted to. That's the list.
  6. He should get an offer to shop around to other teams. Bauer seems like he has become smarter since his silly arb numbers request days.

  8. Im not sure it signals "active infighting" at all. If the dorf says water is dry then water is indeed dry in his kingdom. Theres no reason for anyone to fight about anything they cannot control. I think the silence was premeditated. They knew there would be a shitstorm and theyre waiting for it to blow over. Maybe TLR is still deciding between drinking buddies for the coaching staff. They might want the manager to put his staff in place before they let the GM ask the manager what moves he should make.
  9. I love the Eaton idea. Its TA and Abreus team (or at least it was) so I wouldn't anticipate any issues. Cheap dollars, low years, no draft pick, good player. It could help but cant really hurt.
  10. Lets say you're a fan of another team that loves power arm RPs and youre sick of getting burned by FA contracts to these guys. How much do you think you have to give up just to pry Codi Heuer away from the sox? Also do you think there's any baseball fan on earth right now who isnt salivating over the idea of Garrett Crochet in their org? Not that id want to trade either of those guys but weve got tons of pieces with great value aside from Vaughn. Its just that outside of him theyre almost all pitchers.
  11. Hahn is as we speak at the VFW sitting next to TLR and one of his 2 or 3 coaching staff candidates trying to tell him about how much better than Lopez this German guy on the Rockies is but TLR is still kind of moody because he missed that last number. They'll probably have a few more drinks tonight and maybe they'll talk more about this trade idea thing at some point tomorrow.
  12. "La Russa, 76, was charged in late October with DUI by the Maricopa County Attorney's Office in Arizona after blood and breath tests taken the night of his February arrest showed his blood alcohol concentration (BAC) over the legal limit of .08." I know its common for the 75-year-olds to hit the bottle pretty hard, and I can see the argument that they're still just kids, but at 76? I think you need to grow up a bit and act a little more like an adult.
  13. I bet he can be had on a minor league contract by now. Low risk / high reward.
  14. I think an accurate way of describing the TLR pickup in relation to reinsdorfs presence as owner is "cancer spreads." Can't wait for KWs typical smug comments to the media about how "we don't care if you don't like our guys" or whatever.
  15. The Sox would get a ***haul*** for TA if they traded him... ...unless of course TLR negotiated the deal.
  16. Serious question. Is Hahn going to have to get the greenlight from ol' drinky to make FA acquisitions or complete trades? Is drinky LaRussa going to be able to halt a transaction in progress? Can Hahn trade a player like ReyLo for instance without Drinky LaRussa first figuring out which one of his old buddies will be pitching coach first, to make sure that his ol' pitching coach drinking buddy doesn't want to "fix him" first? Again serious question. Can Hahn be a GM all by his self? And if he needs the dorfs approval re: funds is TLR on the call?
  17. I agree about not going forward with TLR on Nov 11 2020 but I wouldn't have gone foward with him on the day he was hired either. Or before that. The Sox ownership is stating loudly and clearly that character doesnt matter. Only winning championships does (or character does not mean nearly as much). They are also stating they dont care about public image. I dont like any if this. But at least when the ganes are on i hope we have a decent manager. But i don't even think TLR is going to be a good nanager. I think hes going to be shit. What a debacle. It is a debacle in itself how the Sox even entered into this debacle. First debacle is ownership and power structure and decision making process related, second debacle is TLR related. As fans we all lose.
  18. Someone like another Robin who has no experience and also turns out to be a totally shitty manager. At least TLR has experience. Seriously, if TLR resigned, tell me how shocked you would be on a 1-10 scale where 10 is completely shocked and 1 is greatly expected if the Sox immediately hired Paulie and then he turned into Robin part 2. I'd actually take TLR over Robin. Seriously. Edit: i know what you are saying about immediate perception but the thing is we all care most about what they have done for us lately. The nicest guy in the world managing a bullpen like his skull is a box of rocks is going to get bad very quickly. And ultimately would be worse. Unless of course Drinky LaRussa actually kills someone with his behavior, in which case thats worse.
  19. Maybe we should just be happy about this instead. Think about it: Ozzie and his b**** kid was an absolute disaster the last 1-2 years here. So they fired him and guess what? They hired Robin and somehow managed to get even worse. Then they finally fired Robin after they didnt have a shot to win anything anymore. They brought in RR. I'd say it was an improvement, but marginal. Then they fire Ricky and once again somehow manage to get even worse. If they fire TLR or "encourage" TLR to resign, do not necessarily assume they will have a logical hiring decision in their back pocket. It's the Sox, remember that. Do not think they cannot make a follow up decision that -- even if it seems better on the surface immediately like the Ventura hire seemed -- will have Sox fans looking back on the move midseason going "We should have just kept LaRussa instead." Do not expect the Sox to make more than a marginal improvement even if they replace TLR. Do not be surprised if they make an even worse decision. And no matter what, do not expect them to undergo a properly thorough search and interview process. And do not expect them to hire a candidate who is unanimously viewed by the media as qualified. And expect TLR to keep his money and whoever replaces him to be working on the cheap. Yall know i am speaking the truth.
  20. They should rule their selves out of all future planning. By "they" I mean reinsdorf and he can take his ass kissing butler KW with him.
  21. I'm all in favor of Sox fans filling up mailboxes of Sox PR people, but the Stroman comments are soooooooo damning. The arguable (and it's a pretty easy arugment to make) #2 SP on the FA market is basically telegraphing, publicly, his previous intentions of signing with this team. And now it's almost like he's mad that he can't even take an interview without deprecating his moral positions beforehand. That is sooooooooo bad. I mean, damn. Fuck jerry reinsdorf so hard if he can't change the course after all of this.
  22. Whoever mentioned in that other thread about trying to get Marquez from COL by taking on Blackmon's deal --- do it please. Unless Tanaka doesn't really give a fuck, this TLR debacle has undermined the Sox enviable FA position to the point where the hope of getting a really good starting pitcher for basically only money is gone, save for a trade where another team gives us a really good pitcher to dump a contract. Also maybe on the docket could be Darvish with Kimbrel's bad deal strapped to it. It really sucks that the Sox would hamstring their selves like this. It is very difficult to construct a quality roster with a championship core where FA is like a blessing to you (money and payroll room in exchange for a good player) instead of a mocking curse. But the Sox put their selves in that spot, and then shot their selves in both feet.
