  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 20, 2008 -> 07:47 PM) I see that the "The Cheat Kidnaps and Replaces Dayn Perry" plan has come to fruition. Nah my last post in PHT was a sarcastically worded link to his last quite friendly White Sox article.
  2. QUOTE (scenario @ Apr 18, 2008 -> 10:16 PM) Dominating A-ball just the way a pitcher selected in the 23rd round should, eh? He's right at the average age for pitchers in the league. Where he's been shouldn't make a difference at this point. What if some of his time was spent in the California Penal League I'm pretty sure Shirek was a draft eligible sophomore, even though he's now 22. He wasn't a 23rd round talent, much like Kevin Patterson wasn't a 24th round talent, or Jordan Danks a 19th(?). The Sox, as they (along with every other team in baseball) are known to do, used a number of their second day pick on guys who were first-day talents in an effort to entice a few of them to sign for far above slot. Shirek was the only one who signed (for 5th round money, 6 figure signing bonus).
  3. QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 11, 2008 -> 02:44 PM) 10 IP, 4 R (0 ER), 7 K, 2 BB, 5 hits for Porcello in 2 starts. Can't hate the WHIP, but it's early. Impressive for his age and experience so far though. My guy, Alderson (who I'll admit doesn't have the ceiling of Porcello) has some similar numbers at the same level/age ... 10 IP, 6 H, 3 R (2 ER), 2BB, 6 K.
  4. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 11:50 AM) I was just looking over the A's- Indians box score and noticed the attendance I could have sworn that the coliseum holds more than 37,000 people They put tarps over the upper deck. And don't count that area anymore
  5. QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 5, 2008 -> 12:40 AM) They've done camo for at least 5 years now, I believe. It's to support the military. The Sox will be wearing it this year as well. since 2000.
  6. Change.... 7 years of suppressing stories until being released at 4PM Friday, when, hopefully, no one is paying attention. After months of asking her to release her tax info, why shouldn't I be surprised that they decided to do so on late Friday afternoon?
  7. Logistical nightmare from White Sox perspective... The Boston affiliates are both located in Mass, making a trip to Fenway no big deal in the middle of a home stretch... The Sox affiliates are based in NC and AL. It wouldn't be worth it to move one game.
  8. QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 29, 2008 -> 03:21 PM) Here's a comparison... how come when Don Imus called that women's basketball team "nappy headed hos", he got pretty much crucified... but when this Jeremiah Wright guy says much more offensive stuff, and whole lot more offensive stuff, people make excuses for him? Are you really that dim? Imus = Advertiser supported public radio host with nationwide television and radio simulcast Wright = Privately funded and supported pastor. There's no advertisers. There's no FCC. /Thought the Imus firing was stupid.
  9. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 28, 2008 -> 06:56 PM) Pollster.com only has 1 poll for Indiana this year, and it's from mid-Feb, and shows Obama 40 Hillary 25 with 36% undecided. If they have polling showing HRC on top, they ought to release it. They'd get a ton of press being first out of the gate polling that state. Without even seeing the polls, I assumed Indy was HRC territory because of Bayh, who's been rumored as a VP candidate since about 2004.
  10. Wow my PR is 6. I could make a killing if I had no scruples.
  11. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Mar 24, 2008 -> 10:29 PM) I own a domain name based off that movie
  12. So Drudge linked it, and they got a book deal in the span of 24 hours.... I'm guessing #91 is "Jumping the Shark"
  13. The entry that drew me to the site a couple of months ago.... http://stuffwhitepeoplelike.wordpress.com/...-wrigley-field/

  15. I just assume we didn't have a 10th reunion last year. I never heard anything about it, but I suppose my invite could have gotten lost in the mail.
  16. QUOTE(Soxy @ Mar 11, 2008 -> 11:39 AM) So, sidebar, but the article currently up in the NYT makes it sound like Spitzer was a difficult client who would ask his, um, hired help to do things that weren't considered safe. . . I skimmed the leaked docs on TSG. It featured an exchange between two, ahem, diamond-rated girls, discussing the supposed reputation of difficulty of client 9. The one girl asked the other if she found him "difficult?" She replied, paraphrasing, 'No. We both knew what I was there to do. I did my thing. He was happy. I know what I'm supposed to do." The second girl goes on, getting almost philosophical about the flesh trade.
  17. QUOTE(The Critic @ Mar 8, 2008 -> 02:36 PM) The Brewers have worn the Cerveceros jerseys before. I know they wore them last year, I'm not sure if they wore them before that. I like it, I think it's a cool thing. I wouldn't mind seeing a "Medias Blancas" jersey once in a while. They wore them two years ago on Cinco de Mayo. They debuted the Chorizo sausage, and MLB told them they couldn't have an unapproved mascot. Chorizo was approved as an official mascot about 10 months later
  18. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Mar 4, 2008 -> 03:19 PM) It looked fake, which is one of the reasons I think they're looking into it... either way it's not funny and sick. What's worse is it's only one of at least a half dozen vids (not fake) on the net of US soldiers toying with the lives of dogs/cats in Iraq. (I've seen one shot with some type of flare or gas canister, Multiple dogs and cats blown up for sport with IEDs or mines of some kind, and it's always followed by laughing in what one can only hope is a PTSD-induced disregard for life) And those are only from the soldiers demented and stupid enough to upload such s*** to the internet.
