  1. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 11:06 PM) I was remiss in not also assigning blame to the scum who father children and then fail to do the right thing. Parenst have the responsibility to raise and prepare the child to become an adult who can function and thrive in the world. There are few lower than the guy who helps bring a life into this world and then does nothing to nurture it. Condoms are cheaper than kids. They poop less, too. As for the single moms by choice, I know this doesn't 'prove' anything to you, but they have thier own webiste. http://www.singlemothersbychoice.com/ Has all sorts of support info, newsletters, and even pictures of members. I'm with Soxy. I'm out. If you honestly believe that a the women behind the website you linked, self described as "career women in our thirties and forties. The ticking of our biological clocks has made us face the fact that we could no longer wait for marriage before starting our families. Some of us went to a doctor for donor insemination or adopted in the United States or abroad. Others accidentally became pregnant and discovered we were thrilled" are even worth a mention in the debate surrounding are prison population, well I feel sorry for you.
  2. QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Mar 2, 2008 -> 08:15 PM) Go ahead and point it out. Sure, it sounds sexist. However there DID used to be a stigma about being a single parent. And at the risk of sounding like George the first's VP, there are way too many instances of single parenthood being glorified and sought after. Stop praising single mothers who are so by choice. Who are all these single mothers "by choice?" Why is it their fault? Why is it that you heap none of the blame heaped on the blame on absentee fathers? It's not exactly like America is crawling with young men looking to get married after knockin up a girl. I don't know a single single-mother who would reached that status entirely "by choice." And I know more than a handful... If you're going to blame the wrongs of our prison system on single mother, at least get the cause of single mothers correct.
  3. ESPN bottom line said Berrian to the Vikes for 6 year deal
  4. QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 1, 2008 -> 06:49 PM) Spring games tend to be like AAA games though. A lot of at bats by guys who won't be on the 25 man til August or Sept. Yeah that was a terrible lineup Floyd was facing today. The two best players (Drew, Upton) had limited ML experience. Bonifacio is a decent MIF prospect, i suppose. He drew lots of praise in the DWL this year, but hasn't even hit AAA yet. Then all you had was a platoon player (Nixon) and a utility player (Ojeda). I guess the D'backs gave their guys the weekend off.
  5. This thread is far less exciting than when I thought it read "Sluts"

  7. QUOTE(Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 11:45 PM) xerox comment was just plain stupid!! I her last speech, she said something like 'do you want good words or good work? Sound solutions or soundbytes?' I laughed because it was written as just that, a soundbyte, as was the xerox thing.
  8. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 21, 2008 -> 06:21 PM) How do you know which processes your computer should be running. It seems like my computer lags like crazy and there are just too many processes running at one time, how do you decide what should and should not be running? If you're on XP, I go through this checklist every few months. I get mine down to 22-23 processes. I think it was at something like 38 when I started a couple years ago.
  9. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 20, 2008 -> 03:42 PM) Obama rally in 45 minutes featuring Ted Kennedy, my daughter is coming with What to wear? your favorite Che Guevara T-shirt?
  10. Here's a question for you guys to chew on in the morning... Flip the results and current delegate count. Pretend it was Hilldog who just swept 10 states in a row, most in convincing fashion. What would the media be saying? What would Clinton's camp be saying? Wouldn't they both be talking about it being over, and asking when Obama would be dropping out? Wouldn't we be spending primary/caucus nights talking about what it would be like to have a female president?
  11. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 19, 2008 -> 07:36 PM) Here it could be considered a personal attack and taken down. Muhammad posts here? Let's test it. Muhammad, you ignorant slut!
  12. factoring in some strength of schedule, they rounded the Sox up to 78 wins http://www.baseballprospectus.com/unfiltered/?p=762
  13. So I'm watching the ABC news just now, and they're doing the split screen thing with a national financial reporter. As she signs off the camera and mic stay live when they should be back in studio. She pauses for a few seconds, making sure she's clear. And the studio anchors start reading their next story... "A new study finds bored workers are more likely to complain than busy workers" and before he can get half way through that statement, you can see the financial reporter leave the split screen exclaiming "tell MSNBC thanks for blasting that damn music in my ear." Classic. /awaits youtubage.
  14. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 9, 2008 -> 09:30 PM) When it comes to home routers, are the "wireless-N" series much better the than the G series? The routers are backward compatible with G and B, but if you've got a B or G wireless card you're not going to get any additional performance by upgrading to an N router. You need an N card to experience any of the added speed benefits.
  15. So... Does Soxtalk have a GH3 Tour Group?
  16. C'mon guys lets find something we can all agree on... How about a few comical bumps of Pratt posts in the NFL thread? I think there was a post where he wrote a poem about Tom Brady's penis (it probably wasn't his penis, but another appendage) bringing freedom or something.
  17. I wish I had a post here I could point to, but when I first heard of Hillary's money woes I wondered if it wasn't a ploy to get more donors into a healthy campaign... If I was Obama, I would be pounding this on the road... How can you believe Hillary when she says her campaign is running out of money, when she says she has to "loan" herself $5MM from her own pockets, then turns around and admits it was a ploy to get more donors. The Clintons, just like our current administration, will have the public believe what they want them to believe in order to further their own political goals. The American public should not knowingly be misled. That is how we get into protracted wars. That is how we get the overreaching Patriot Act. The American Public does not need another 4 years of played a fool by our highest elected official.
  18. QUOTE(Misplaced_Sox @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 05:32 PM) I think the monarchy of Clinton comments is well, pretty dumb and baseless. If Hill wins the democratic nomination, we're looking at 28 straight years (36 if you count VP terms) under rule by two families. It doesn't much of a leap to think that Jeb or Neil can be prodded to run in 8 years. Heck, Chelsea will be 35 (I think) by then. Maybe she can duke it out with Barbara Bush (W's daughter) and we can have our first lesbian presidency.
  19. QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 6, 2008 -> 02:43 PM) Stick around. And who do you want going after terrorists, someone ruthless or not? Seriously, that is one thing that actually has me thinking about her. From the confidence and ruthless side, she's the closest to Reagan in this race. Picture any of the four candidates at the Berlin wall and she's the only one I see pulling off the "Tear down this wall" line. America does need a candidate who, FROM DAY ONE, can nuke Iran.
  20. I do not believe that having a "Royal" last name is a qualification for office. If anything, 8 years ago should have taught us to reject any and all candidates looking to capitalize on the name of immediate family. It's unfortunate that much of the country does not feel this way. Name recognition, more than any other single factor, is the key to winning an election in this country. You have to appeal to the masses, the LCD, the people who think that "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" is great show with tough questions. And yes, I vote against the grain whenever possible. I vote against every judge in local elections. I vote against incumbents unless I really (and I mean really) agree with their policy and voting record. I voted for my incumbent congresswoman and Senator yesterday, which was the first time I've ever voted for than one incumbent. So, yeah I pretty much hate Hillary. I hated when she handpicked New York as her new home when they first started mapping out a 2008 path to the White House. I hate that there are many woman in my life, woman I consider smart informed citizens, who (presumably) voted for Hillary yesterday not on policy but on sisterhood.
  21. Bull Durham... It begins with Annie begins complaining about the Frank Robinson-for-Milt Pappas trade, and ends with her saying, "You could look it up." That about says it, meat.
  22. From California exit polling... Was Gender of Candidate Clinton Edwards Obama Important to You Yes (23%) 71% 4% 24% No (76%) 47% 6% 44% Almost of 1/4 of the democratic voters in California thought gender was imporant, and those voters broke 3 to 1 for Hillary.
