  1. Wilbur Wood was the first White Sox player I was cognizant of, and was my first favorite White Sox player. I thought he was Superman because I was told he pitched both ends of a doubleheader. My child baseball knowledge did not factor in the fact the limited stress of his knuckleball allowed him to pitch more than other pitchers in the game. Wilbur Wood had an eight game winning streak against New York prior to Game 1. He allowed the first six baserunners to reach before being pulled. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/NYA/NYA197307201.shtml Wilbur wasn't the planned starter of Game 2 at the beginning of the day, but between games manager Chuck Tanner decided he would be the best option to start the second game. Wilbur sent the first nine Yankees down in order before the White Sox committed two errors in the bottom of the fourth (infield throwing error and a second by the centerfielder on a fly ball). https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/NYA/NYA197307202.shtml All in all, 103 pitchers in MLB history started both ends of a doubleheader, with 99 occurring during the segregation era / deadball era, and four coming in the modern era: 5/20/50 Monte Kennedy (New York Giants) vs. Cincinnati 9/6/50 Don Newcombe (Brooklyn Dodgers) vs. Philadelphia 5/26/71 Al Santorini (San Diego) vs. Houston 7/20/23 Wilbur Wood @ New York Yankees Fans can learn more about Wilbur Wood's performance and the history of pitchers covering both games of a double header via the link below. https://prestonjg.wordpress.com/2009/09/12/a-thorough-account-of-pitchers-who-have-started-both-games-of-a-doubleheader-in-the-major-leagues/
  2. I am honouring Lucas Giolito, the best White Sox pitcher during this era for my 27th win earned on July 20, 2023. I hope there is a way for him to return to the White Sox, regardless of how unlikely this may happen. I appreciate his fighting on behalf of players against the greedy reprehensible owners who attempted to cancel two more MLB seasons.

    • 9/19/22 (13 Balta)
  3. I believe where they are at is what is the proper diagnosis. If Tommy John surgery is required, he is out until 2025 at this point with the typical 15 month recovery time.
  4. Liam’s high in latest bullpen session was 93.8, down 1.7 MPH from his low average 95.4 MPH average over five appearances this season. https://www.si.com/fannation/mlb/fastball/injuries/chicago-white-sox-injury-updates-on-liam-hendriks-and-mike-clevinger Better news on the Clevinger front, though wish the situations were reversed and we would never see Mike, not Liam, pitch again for the White Sox, or for that matter anyone in the United States. Wish he joined Trevor Bauer in Japan or Yermin Mercedes in the Mexican League.
  5. Will never forget the night we chipped in to rent a suite, and laughed out asses off when the soon to be fired Joe Stephen taunted Chuck Finley with Whitesnake’s Here I Go Again after Tawny Kitaen RIP was arrested for kicking his ass earlier in the week. https://www.espn.com/page2/s/caple/020424.html
  6. Hard to fault Tray’s optimism and support of Eloy. That is what fandom is about. I like players not living up to expectations like Vaughn, Tim and Zavala. Eloy seems like a great person, just hope one day he can put it all together either here or elsewhere. Hoping Kim Ng still likes him and they can reach a deal this off-season, as her team is second oldest in the MLB and can use quality younger players.
  7. Liking the Sox extending relievers like Bummer, Santos this season. Would like Lopez to be stretched out, perhaps as a starter in 2024.
  8. No, if he starts this weekend he will get pounded this weekend. Not a single member of the team forgot what he done to the team and his teammates.
  9. Pounding Dallas Keuchel into oblivion would have been sweet.
  10. https://chicago.suntimes.com/2023/7/19/23800347/northwestern-university-football-abuse-hazing-lawsuit-patrick-fitzgerald We’re talking about probably hundreds, if not thousands of events of abuse, harassment or sexual assault during his tenure
  11. Actual: 89 Pitches, 5 2/3 IP, 5 Ks, 2 Hits, 1 ER, 4 BB
  12. Sigh Grounded Into DP Eloy Jimenez grounds into a double play, second baseman Jeff McNeil to shortstop Francisco Lindor to first baseman Pete Alonso. Tim Anderson out at 2nd. Eloy Jimenez out at 1st.
  13. Tim Anderson is kicking ass post ASB. EOM.
  14. Kopech 91 Pitches, 5 2/3 IP, 6 Ks, 4 Hits, 2 ER, 2 BB, Win
  15. Wynn Sportsbook Odds: Mets -149 White Sox + 136; Run Line Mets +130 -1 1/2 vs. Sox - 154 + 1 1/2. Eloy returns, Vaughn still out after the foul ball off foot on Tuesday. Mets starting an ex-White Sox battery this afternoon. Jose Quintana is making his first MLB 2023 start after 4 minor league "Spring Training" starts, Jose went 15 2/3 IP and a 4.60 ERA, 16 Ks and 8 Walks over five minor league appearances. B Nimmo (L) CF T Pham (R) LF F Lindor (S) SS P Alonso (R) 1B J McNeil (L) 2B F Alvarez (R) DH B Baty (L) 3B M Canha (R) RF O Narváez (L) C
  16. The World Series of Poker, also out of Hahn’s capacity to win.
  17. This thread is not even on page one when sorted by most replies. Need to get to 238 pages to claim the top spot in terms of responses. This thread is .378 on the way there, closing in soon on Rick Hahn's win percentage.
  18. AJ is the only interesting ex-Sox I'd be interested in hearing during a broadcast, Carl Everett would be a good guest fill-in for a few games / weeks a year. I don't see AJ wanting to deal with a grind of a full season unless he was offered a managerial job, possibly a bench coach with a managerial job lineup up within a few years.
  19. I can't see Theo or Jed talking such blatant bullshit like "People are accountable" or "just a few years ago we were named the best front office in baseball". Kenny is on record saying he is walking away once his contract is done, but don't see Hahn going anywhere until Jerry dies and only if someone outside of the Reinsdorf family has control. Paxson is still with the Bulls, likely Jerry and or Michael's spy at this stage.
  20. Miss all the original or older ones. Top 3: #1 Comiskey Park (1910-1990); #2 Fenway Park (1912-Current), #3 Tigers Stadium (1912-1999) Bottom 3: #42 Metrodome; #41 Tampa; #40 Veterans Stadium. Top 3 New (1990 - 2023) Parks: #1 PNC; #2 Giants Stadium; #3 Seattle / Detroit (Tie) Missing Current Parks: Texas, Atlanta, Miami,
  21. I've been to 42 MLB stadiums, and OG Yankee Stadium is the only one I paid for parking because I didn't think my car would be there after the game (took the El to the new one, liked the OG stadium much more just like Shea over the new one). Parked at KC as well, cause running late. Street parked at all Chicago stadiums, Tiger Stadium over the years, and everywhere else.
