Sox looking at building in South Loop

State legislators are told how to vote by their party leaders who slate most of the election funding, and fund opponents if you don't obey. Perhaps not as top/down stringent as the Madigan decades, but still par for the course here. Then again, it's not much different from Congress in that sense. -
I have supported all but a handful of players over the years. Teams are good, bad or mediocre, but nearly all try their best each season, and they didn't determine the payroll or assemble the roster. If I didn't like the players, not sure what the point was to follow the team or the sport in general. Older now, players are all children age at this point, so have reduced interest over time which I think is a natural progression for many fans. Just a nice Summer routine talking a long walk and listening to the game or enjoying while lounging around with a Summer breeze or perhaps watching with friends or family. Don't follow any of the other sports at this stage, don't miss them much. Anyway, really looking forward to listening to the game. Planned on trying to watch it and hear the new announcer but looks like cold and snow so Len and DJ on AM 1000 is the plan for this afternoon. Play Ball!!

White Sox Announce Spring Training Broadcast Schedule
South Side Hit Men replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The radio station is broadcasting ten games vs. JerryVision's six games, though the crew is likely also working the four games streaming on Whitesox.com. Then again, MVP 1000 also flew their announcers out to games in 2021, whereas Stone and Jason were locked in a bunker somewhere calling away games off of a monitor. Opened a major rift between Benetti and Boyer which led to his jump to the Tigers as soon as he could get out of Jerry's contract early. -

Here you have a $6.3B company throwing a hissy fit and "considering other options" over an $11M property tax bill. -

Because everything else built is subject to property tax to the general fund, and if businesses occupy it, all the sales tax revenue also goes to the respective city and state general funds. -

Liam was great and all, but Tim meant far more over his eight seasons with the White Sox, which Liam would most certainly acknowledge. It's a shame 2023 happened. Would have loved to see both play well and end their years with the White Sox. Do agree it was better for both parties (Tim and the Sox) to part ways after how 2023 played out. -
They can also put him on the 15 day and keep him for flexibility in the event he won't need the full 60 days. This is what the Sox did with Liam. Shane just needs to be on the active roster for 90 of the 187 calendar days in a season and earn the ML minimum. https://www.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/rule-5-draft That is not how this works. The worst case scenario would be Jerry losing the $100K paid in December to Boston. If a player was injured to the point they wouldn't be active for 90 calendar days, the Sox can place him on outright waivers. At that point, any of the 29 other teams including Boston can claim him and pay the MLB minimum the rest of the season, That team would be subject to the same rules as the Sox (must be active for a total of 90 days). If he clears waivers, Boston gets a second shot at claiming him for their ML system by returning $50,000 of the $100,000 to Jerry. If Boston also passes on this, then the Sox can keep him and outright him to Charlotte like any other player who clears waivers and remain in the White Sox organization The Sox can also trade him, but again, Shane would be subject to the 90 day active rule to the receiving team, except for a trade with Boston, who would reacquire his full rights and outright him to Pawtucket Worcester.

An older guy about my age turned left on his bike as I faced him wearing a Minnesota Twins hat. I haven’t gotten into a physical altercation since I was a teenager, but for a brief second thought about clocking him and knocking his hat off. ? White Sox Beisbol in under 24 hours and counting. Either watching in Bridgeport or North Side Sox friendly Bob Inn near Diversey Bowl if I’m lazy.

Free Agents and Spending Teams Remaining
South Side Hit Men replied to South Side Hit Men's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Thank you Cali! I didn't finish updating the cut and pasted amounts. $- indicates there were no estimates provided by MLB Trade Rumors or FanGraphs. FanGraph amounts were used for HM and NL guys not projected by MLB Trade Rumors. Everything should be accurate after my updates. This gives owners even a greater opportunity for collusion, make players sign a terrible deal by December 15 or January 10 or whatever or lose entire season of salary. A majority of players do not even reach free agency / 6 years in MLB. For the remaining players, FA is their one opportunity to attempt to get market worth. I do feel some clubs have a legitimate reason for cutting spending (Padres' owner died) and the teams with shitty expiring TV deals have a valid reason to be conservative. But several teams including the top 5-10 in revenue such as the Cubs and Boston have done little. For all those clamoring for untold billions for Jerry, both the Cubs and Red Sox owners have maximized beyond stadium revenue including real estate and RSN ownership. Both also charge the highest ticket prices in MLB. Boston finished last and cut payroll $9M to date YOY, the Cubs raised it by $8M, and neither are in the Top 8 in payroll, despite being in the Top 4 in ticket revenue. These two, Jerry and the rest have zero intention of ever slating a penny of any of this revenue toward on-field product. -

Hope Burger and Tim kick ass and win some playoff series. -
The record low is 1,338,851 for a full season at the new stadium. 2022 was the lone season they drew over 1,800,000 under Rick Hahn.

You're the assclown bitching to expand the "fucked up system" and then calling most of Chicago who opposes this s%*# "dumber than a bag of hammers". As if doing the right thing and telling these billionaires we want you to do well here, but if you are looking for several billion dollars in perpetual taxes, interest payments and property and sales tax diversions, we can't accommodate you. You know, calling their bluff knowing full well they will lose substantial money relocating to an inferior much smaller city. Jerry literally said he had zero intention on moving to Tampa, It was clear who was then, and who is today "dumber than a bag of hammers". -

Jerry started with a 17 year head start over Tampa Bay. TB spends a fraction of payroll and eat the Sox' lunch each and every year because they hire competent management to run the team. The White Sox don't need a new stadium to compete. They need new competent owners & management. The Bulls don't need a new stadium to compete. They need new competent owners & management. The Bears don't need a new stadium to compete. They need new competent owners & management. -

Ignorant statement. Our nation has been hallowed out by the blatant kleptocracy of the past 40 years. These are literal slave jobs and all the profits goes to Bezos and his whore. This will cost $7B-$10B over 30-40 years after counting the upfront costs, the taxes never recovered, the additional renovations, and most importantly the substantial interest paid each and every years to funds this s%*#. $800M was spent to pay off the $40M the duplicitous and or blatantly ignorant media focuses on the past 14 years. Billions have been spent since 1988 on the Sox stadium, fixing several aspects of s%*# Jerry insisted on, and then giving the fucking worthless 10 games a year Bears a boondoggle. Neither of these lecherous families are going anywhere. Any replacement market will be much smaller than what they would be leaving. Jerry literally called all you rubes idiots when reflecting on his “negotiations” in the 1980s, when those empty threats and these empty threats were all complete and utter bullshit. Let the Bears and Sox move to Salt Lake City. Good luck with that. -

He's buried three generations of Wirtz' and wouldn't be surprised if he outlived many on this board. Spite alone might push him into the 2040s or 2050s. Perhaps he'll even outlive Virginia McCaskey. Keith Richards, however, might be a bridge too far. -

It's very likely Jerry Reinsdorf will end with an overall losing record owning the White Sox. They are 3,374-3,363-4 .501 entering this season. They will likely also finish the 2020s under .500 for the decade (258-251 through 2023), and possibly for all time before the end of the decade (9,553-9,491-103 .5016) unless Jerry is replaced soon. Over 80% of fans attending games cannot even remember a winning ownership group (Arthur Allyn Jr & John Allyn) through 1968. Records for completed decades / tenures. Need to wait to see if they dump Cease or convert any NRIs, but as of now they cut $48.9M ($181.1M to $132.2M). This amount includes Leury's buyout, and the entire 40 man roster including guys on the IL. I don't see the final payment due to Abreu, or the first of ten payments due to Hendriks in the 2024 detail. https://legacy.baseballprospectus.com/compensation/cots/
