  2. James McCann becomes the 62nd MLB catcher to catch 2 or more no-hitters. He becomes the sixth White Sox (Bold) and eighth player in MLB history with at least one game caught in two leagues (italics / underlined). Of the 315 Official No Hitters in MLB history, 144 or nearly half (45.7%) were caught by these 62 catchers. Thirteen of these 62 catchers caught two no-hitters from the same pitcher: (Yogi Berra, Roy Campanella, Nig Clarke, Lou Criger, Silver Flint, Ryan Hanigan, Fran Healy, King Kelly, Ernie Lombardi, Jimmy Peoples, Wilson Ramos, Johnny Roseboro & Carlos Ruiz (twice - Halladay and Hamels, the second a split NH)). Many fans are aware of Johnny Vander Meer's back to back no-hitters across two starts. One trivia piece most fans including Sox fans are aware of is the fact that the Chicago White Sox are the only team in MLB history to have been no-hit across two consecutive days (May 5 & 6, 1917 vs. the Saint Louis Browns at Sportsman's Park (Saint Louis, not Cicero)). However, the second no hitter on May 6th followed Game 1 of a Doubleheader, the Sox losing 8-4. May 5, 1917 - Saint Louis Browns 1 vs. Chicago White Sox 0, Attendance 4,000 May 6, 1917 - Saint Louis Browns 3 vs. Chicago White Sox 0, Attendance 20,000 Four No-Hitters (2 Catchers) Carlos Ruiz (NL Philadelphia (4) 2010 Roy Halladay (twice); 2014 (C. 3. You're skipping June, and adding this horse shit month. My statement was for 2021.
  4. This, though Jerry needs to be added for any legitimate change. 2-3 "consecutive playoffs" after a second MLB playoff expansion, in the worst division in baseball, is not the stated goal. This must not be accepted by the fanbase. Hahn has been crowing about "contending for multiple championships" (not consecutive playoff participation trophies) his entire tenure. Hahn's second decade as White Sox GM begins October 25, 2022.
  5. My post strictly addressed your "early cupcake schedule" at the start of last season question, and Mercedes' impact during that stretch. Sox played 2-4 games over .500 each of the remaining four months, which puts you at an above 90 win season and with 12 playoff teams, a likely playoff birth. They have a weak April schedule again, but do not have a Mercedes carrying the team this year. Definitely could have used a hot bat to win 2 or 3 additional games last week (lost 2-1 twice in Cleveland). Their offense will likely improve with Moncada returning, and perhaps Eloy will contribute in the second half. Still short in the rotation.
  6. Yes, and if it weren't for Yermin Mercedes carrying the team until Tony benched him for hitting a home run, their record would have been about the same as it is this year.
  7. Received this DM from Joe. I responded saying I would be available Sunday or Monday if I can also DH via the Ohtani rule. This will be a lot of fun.
  8. Steve's reply to a fan regarding whether Tony is on the hot seat. https://nitter.net/Ssstclair8Sean/status/1520045825455312901#m
  9. Yes, Tony is the nut low among ML mangers. Sox dropped another spot yesterday, down to 23rd in attendance, behind tanking teams such as Washington, Cincinnati, Arizona, and close to 8,000 behind Baltimore. Stand firm Sox fans, regime change begins at HOME.
  10. So in 2042. Their legion (11,412) of cucks will continue enjoying the ride. Can't wait for the ring ceremony for Tony passing Connie Mack as the all time winningest manager.
  11. Lol, build him a statue, would mimic his defensive and batting stances. $73M for a part time catcher in decline. Same FA class as Dallas Keuchel. The Summer of George Decade of Hahn! High water mark remains, and likely will remain, Ricky Renteria and Lucas Giolito, starting catcher James McCann and the rest of the team celebrating their lone playoff lead in the Hahn era, before Hahn's FA star Dallas Keuchel, followed by literally no remaining starting pitcher available after a 60 game death march, were slated for Games 2 and 3 with only a split needed to advance. One Shinning Moment Dallas Comegys (2:09 in) in the HOUSE! OG Shining Moment
  12. You need Veruca Salt's Dad version for full effect.
  13. Need different motivation. Nobody wants to see Jerry naked.
  14. Grandal's contract and fWAR is a sunk cost, He's fortunate they don't have automated strike zones, otherwise his primary strength (pitch framing) would be neutralized. Now that he is DHing more than Catching, his fWAR remains negative.
  15. Vaughn gives the team flexibility, and he is a better defensive LF than Eloy. Would prefer the Sox stick with Abreu, Sheets and Eloy at 1B/DH, let Abreu take a FO position after the season. No need to give him a Konerko type extension for old times sake.
  16. After listening to nearly every game the past two years, I backed off this season, the 7th was only the 4th inning I listened to this year, with 1 1/2 to go today. Nice to see Vaughn come through big. He's always been one of my favorite White Sox players, and beyond Robert and perhaps Kopech, the only untouchable on this roster, IMO. His willingness to be plopped into the two corners with literally a couple days of prep last year should be commended. He is not a great defensive OF, but an upgrade over Eloy and can physically play there without significant injury risk. Would like Eloy to shift to 1B/DH. Sox should hang on for a much needed victory!
  17. The money has been spent (7th in MLB). Unfortunately, it has been spent by Hahn and Tony.
  18. When he has been healthy enough to play, he has been solid vs. LHP, and hold his own against RHP. His defense has dropped off the past few years, and that was in LF. Not sure it's wise to ask a 34 year old to move to a more challenging position (LF to RF), but Hahn is going to Hahn. His bat should be fine and better than the crap Hahn signed for 2020 and 2021. Think the better long-term fit for everyone's current abilities would be to keep Pollock in LF, play Vaughn DH/LF when Pollock rests, Engle and Sheets platoon in RF while Eloy is out, get a solid actual RF at the deadline (could be the Sox 3rd/4th OF, sliding Engel to 5th OF). Transition Eloy to 1B/DH, and keep him there beyond 2021 if he isn't traded.
