  1. Key takeaways: Kopech looks healthy and sharp, hopefully can go 2-3 either as an opener (if Rodon can't go) or the second man in if he does in the playoffs. Andrew Vaughn looks solid in yet another position (CF, SS and C are left on his to do list), and more importantly healthy. Nice to see him come through late. Engel continues to look solid at the plate since his return, hopefully he can play back to back games in the playoffs to solidify RF. The back of the bullpen is battling for the last man spot on the playoff roster. Wright may have been the best of the bunch today. If someone does/does not emerge the final week plus, may mean the difference between a 12 or 13 pitcher staff for the opening series.
  2. They also matter in terms of keeping hitters timing and pitchers sharp. I thought Lucas might have gone Game 1, but it looks like the rotation will line up like this: Lynn: 9/25, 10/1, 10/7 G1, 10/13 G5 Giolito: 9/26, 10/2, 10/8 G2 Rodon: 9/29, 10/10 G3 Cease: 9/24, 10/3, 10/11 G4 Keuchel: 9/27, (likely scheduled 2-3 innings out of the bullpen vs. Detroit), Playoff Bullpen Lopez: 9/28, Playoff Bullpen
  3. Len said he warmed up once the Sox tied it. He would likely have come in if it was a lead. And there it is , Ruiz streak ends at 10 scoreless appearances.
  4. Hendriks warmed but wonder what Tony does if a runner or two reaches, let Hendriks rest or leave Ruiz in.
  5. Eight of nine Sox starters in their Siesta Sunday lineup with at least one hit today. (Sorry Brian Goodwin)
  6. Thankfully Cleveland is playing like they don't give a shit. Hope the Sox get out of it because of the shitty baserunning by Cleveland.
  7. DJ said he intentionally did that to draw the throw to let slow as hell Grandal to score. Listening on the radio, is that explanation plausible? DJ defended Goodwin earlier this season on a similar play SoxTalk blew up on Goodwin. Edit - Watched the replay, DJ was being generous there, and no need to make the 3rd out at 3rd (or first).
  8. Yes, nice he filled in during the Sox emergency this season, but hope he is left off the postseason roster and finds somewhere else to play in 2022.
  9. Goodwin almost walked away, thankfully Daryl Boston told him to get back there.
  10. “I love it when a plan comes together.” - Tony La Russa “I pity the fool who plays my outfielders deep.” - Dallas “Bad Attitude” Keuchel.
  11. Max Scherzer is a solid hitter as far as pitchers go, entering the season with a .193 batting average. He is 0 for 57 after today's game in Denver, his career average down 23 points to .170 at this point. https://www.mlb.com/player/max-scherzer-453286?stats=career-r-hitting-mlb&year=2021
  12. I’d think a regular season target of 120-130 would be reasonable after a 70 inning base. That assumes his arm can handle that big of a jump. Would like for him to be rolled out around June, can work on his third and forth pitches he’s set aside for his current role in AZ, or work out here under Katz’ supervision. Make sure he is available in October. Cap his outings at 3-5 innings to start. He could then jump to a regular workload in 2023. They paced him well this season, wished for more but not sure he could/ should have handled 100.
  13. https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/roster/transactions They made the moves this morning, Jace Fry was sent down. 09/23/21 Chicago White Sox recalled RHP Matt Foster from Charlotte Knights. 09/23/21 Chicago White Sox optioned LHP Jace Fry to Charlotte Knights. 09/23/21 Chicago White Sox activated 1B Andrew Vaughn from the 10-day injured list.
  14. Missed the Andrew Vaughn activation, very good news! I think the Sox will kick ass in the nightcap.
  15. LF M. Foster (R) CF B. Goodwin (L) C Z. Collins (L) DH D. Cease (R) SS L. Garcia (S) 3B R. Burr (R) 2B C. Hernandez (S) RF M. Wright (R) 1B G. Crochet (L) Relievers will move in / out of their positions.
