Lynn and Lucas have legitimate injuries, Dallas can usually eat 4-5 innings with 2-3 runs allowed, anything more is a bonus -

This. HopLeaf the best version here. Speaking of which, pissed Chicago is being passed over again for Zwanze Day, thinking about hitting Saint Louis. -

Had a classic earlier today. Banana is still going strong, the bourbon has mellowed out a bit, possibly better than fresh. Didn't like the 2020 version, same brewer for 2021 = hard pass. Well, Ray' has added weather to the topics he is clueless about. Sox baseball coming up, baseball guys at the ballpark on radio, basketball guys replacing the regular basketball guy + Stone who takes a lot of games off these days, both sitting watching a computer screen downtown, cause Jerry is broke. -

Looking at the radar, it may take awhile. I’m starting my walk with a podcast, hope it starts before nine or the just have a DH over the weekend. Will save the Sox four innings. -
Jerry saves $171k with the claim, likely made his day as it would any of us.

Chuck Swirsky and Bill Wennington would be a great pairing. “Put Leury in the Hall of Fame!” -
Didn’t see any other reported bids for Keuchel before he signed with the Sox. 30 teams rejected him the previous season, solely “interest” from the Padres who have been interested in 100 players and acquired 50 of them the past few seasons. MLB.com called his free agency murky, Fan Graphs had him with the worst projected fWAR. Few if any GMs would lock him in today for the next two seasons at his current deal ($18m & $20m). https://www.mlb.com/news/dallas-keuchel-free-agent-outlook Lollygagging through Spring Training and the start of this season didn’t seem to help him, neither did the shift in schedule from Central 60 games to a full season against all teams. Seems as though the other four White Sox starters were up for the challenge this year, and they weren’t trashing their fellow teammates (causing a rebuke from Tim Anderson) and manager like Keuchel did throughout last season, nor did they whine about outfield defensive placement this season as an excuse for their 5.00 ERA.

Hoping Keuchel and Kopech each get through at least one inning this weekend. Leury could use some rest. Wouldn't mind Tony getting 60 days off himself at this point. -
He deserves $20M AAV, the length is the question, Deserves at least what Lynn got, $38/2 years, for his age 35 and 36 seasons. Would offer $60M/3. Would pass on $80M/4 or $100/5 +. Has pitched better than Lynn, especially since Lynn signed the extension (Rodon 30 IP, 2.70 ERA vs. Lynn now on IL, 45 IP, 3.80 ERA).

Bill Melton had a 5.7 bWAR season, and was 13th in AL MVP voting (Wilbur Wood was 9th) with an .843 OPS (134 OPS +). Carlos May was also a solid player for the Sox, finishing 3rd in ROY voting and an All Star in 1969, and also was an All Star in 1972. -
Pete Rose will be banned.

Yes, it's a good beer. The ones they brew here are typically good. The ones in NY/Col previously brewed here (312, IPA), not good. They should keep the cans the same, or just wait to issue a World Series commemorative issue! In terms of the alternate uniforms, I like these the best. Tommy John 1971 - Would have been a great 50th anniversary selection for this season. -

Saddened to see the 1983 uniform design will soon replace the classic current uniform and logo. New Label filed TTB in July OG and current design: -
That is not how "math" or "logic" works. Either 1 fWAR is worth $8-9M, or it is not, and it's worth the same regardless of whether you Stan for player or not. Leury earned 1.8 fWAR for $4.7M in salary, or $2.6M for each 1 fWAR he earned for the Sox. Grandal earned 4.3 fWAR for $25M in salary, or $5.8M per 1 fWAR earned. $2.6M for 1 fWAR >>> $5.8M for 1 fWAR Yet you are trying to claim Leury is not worth $3M/year, marginally higher than the ML minimum. It's absurd. Also, @chw42, there wasn't a single report of another team offering Grandal a contract in the 2020 offseason, let alone the size of the one the Sox handed out.

Yes I agree, though Rocky and or John may have made the final call to aid a known rapist (later exposed as a serial child rapist). Without an legitimate independent investigation, which will likely never happen, the public will never be able to accurately determine who was culpable, so I agree a complete break from Rocky to anyone in a position of authority who knew of these incidents should be gone. People must also remember at least one disgraceful Bill Peters racist incident also was known and condoned by Blackhawks management during this timeframe. They should also take the opportunity to "commit to replacing the Indian" and change the team name and racist caricature the league is too embarrassed to even display or promote, because we are now living in the 21st century.

How many innings do you think Kopech can pitch next season? It won't be close to a full season in the rotation, primarily because they shifted course from multi-inning appearances and spot starts to 1 inning appearances. Perhaps he is not healthy enough to do more the second half of this season, hence the 1 inning cap, which gives concern whether he will be able to sustain health in the future. 2018 140 2/3 IP 2019 0 2020 0 2021 52 2/3

More revenue that doesn’t count toward “revenue sharing” the owners through out there with their faux “rev venue sharing” proposals, same with mlb.com, parking, Rickett’s hotels, etc..
-
So when the Sox pay Leury $3.5m for 1.4 fWAR, he isn’t worth it, but when they pay Grandal $18.3M per year for his 1.7 and 2.6, it is a steal. “Sox Math”.
-
Who or what is calling for $15-$18m per year? Your response is baffling.
-
Fangraphs provides a $ value, and Leury has vastly outperformed this metric since the Sox began fielding a legitimate ballclub in 2020. He was paid $4.7M over the past two seasons (2020 his prorated salary with the 102 game owner lockout), and earned $14.6M per Fangraphs over these two seasons. A contract in the $3.5-4.5M AAV range would be equitable to both sides for 2022.

Seattle (12 1/2 GB) and Toronto (13 1/2 GB) are closer to catching Tampa than San Diego (14 GB) is of catching Los Angeles. They were only 7 back three weeks ago. For AL Central context, the Sox are only 1 more game ahead of the dead in the water all season Detroit Tigers (15 GB). A truly epic collapse is possible. The Padres have a heavy Dodgers / Giants schedule (16 games total) plus three vs. Houston to finish the season, and may finish below .500.
