  1. It has nothing to do with “safety”, it has to do with $$$$$. Len and DJ have been traveling since May.
  2. Perhaps because Kasper is in Minnesota, and Monaco and others are in the Jerry (Springer) studios in NBC Tower. That is unless today is the first day Jerry's RSN is paying for their TV announcers to travel outside of Chicago to broadcast games in person (Jason attended the Sunday night Milwaukee game as a fan).
  3. Tony decided to sit Vaughn to get Leury's left handed bat in the lineup tonight. He is the worst hitting option currently on the roster, so he should only playing a part time role now that everyone has returned. Counting stats are a product of playing time, RBIs more a product of your position in the lineup and previous hitters reaching base (beyond the 1 RBI for a HR). Tim, Jose and Yoan should be getting 2-3 days off a month, but are getting 0-1 beyond injuries. Leury starting to rest Cesar, Tim and Yoan (at least one game each every two weeks), and coming in for late substitutions for the INF/OF would be optimal now that everyone besides Grandal has returned. The OFers on the team need to get more at bats to stay fresh (Engel, Goodwin, Lamb). August OF Starts through 8/9/21 Five (Engel, Vaughn & Garcia) Four (Goodwin) Three (Jimenez) One (Robert & Sheets) Zero (Lamb) White Sox 2021 OPS Rankings .961 Jimenez (9 Games) .895 Hernandez (9) .870 Engel (30) .824 Grandal (63) IL .822 Robert (25) .795 Abreu (105) .791 Vaughn (96) .783 Goodwin (44) .776 Sheets (29) Minors .767 Anderson (95) .764 Moncada (101) .764 Zavala (18) .749 Lamb (32) .653 Collins (62) .652 Garcia (91) <+ Literally the worst option on the Chicago White Sox on the current roster .642 Hamilton (57) IL .568 Mendick (58) Minors
  4. That would be fine if that is what Tony was doing across the roster. Yoan, with an injured shoulder, hasn’t had an inning off since July 9th. Tim hasn’t had a non DH day off since late May. Jose has had one (a second game of a DH) since mid May.
  5. If LOOGYs were allowed, can see Tony with 13 pitchers. Under the current 3 batter minimum, I agree they likely go with 12. One of the reasons they dumped so much money and resources (Madrigal, Heuer for Kimbrel) into the bullpen, to make it as Tony-Proof as possible.
  6. Tony’s obstinacy is one of the reasons why Hawk rightfully fired Tony in the first place. Sadly, Tony is untouchable by Kenny or Hahn, and Jerry never will fire him for what he does as manager.
  7. Both indeed. He is my MFP, Most Favorite Player, on this years team. If they carry 14 position player in the playoffs, he makes it. If 13, it’s between Hamilton and Goodwin, think Hamilton gets the nod because of his defense. Don’t see Lamb, Sheets or Burger (or a third catcher) on a playoff roster if everyone is healthy.
  8. My understanding based on search this weekend: A minor league player can be placed on the 7 day Minor League IL. If they are injured on the minor league roster, they can be placed on a minor league 60 day IL list. However, to open up a roster space on the 40 man roster, a player must be added to the major league roster before being placed on the major league 60 day IL. A player placed on the 60 major league IL continues to earn compensation and service time credits. The Sox did not want to pay Gonzalez so he was released. Hope this helps.
  9. They have played Jake Lamb 19 innings at 3B this year, and 11 innings at 1B, just a couple starts total and a couple blowout late inning mop up appearances. Leury played 3B when Yoan was out a month ago. Jake is only being used as a PH or corner OF at this point. Leary is a better use of a roster spot, he just shouldn’t be starting at all in the OF at this point with everyone back. Leury is valuable as a reserve infielder, and should get starts to rest Yoan, Tim and Cesar. I think Lamb stays because he is Tony’s friend, and Sheets has options. I’m hoping the friendship does not mean a Lamb playoff roster spot, which would be absurd. Hamilton is much more valuable as a PR and defensive replacement.
  10. An all time great man and pitcher passed on Sunday. J.R. Richard was 71 years old, and survived a stroke for over four decades.
  11. He also struck out the side against Detroit two years ago. July 3, 2019 (1 IP, 3 K) vs. Detroit https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHA/CHA201907032.shtml August 8, 2021 (1 IP, 3 K) vs. Chicago NL https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/gamefeed?gamePk=632970&game_date=8/8/2021&date=8/8/2021
  12. "Back when I broadcast baseball, we showed you the game." Really enjoyed Len and DJ's broadcast, watching along when they bothered to show the game itself. Audio ahead of the television, so you can do other things, look up in time to not miss any play. Will do the same Thursday. Great game for Tim, Eloy and Andrew. Cease recovered well after a shaky start, Reynaldo came on for another impressive appearance (1.59 ERA this year), Tepera and Ruiz pitched well to close it out. Time to dab on the Twins before a trip to the cornfields.
  13. Yep. Also, James as always was on it, Tim cancelled his scheduled rest day, missed that tweet. I do hope he gets a day off in Minnesota, nice to get a few days off each month to keep as fresh as possible, avoid fatigue injuries.
  14. I hope someone asks Tony what was the deal with Leury in the initial lineup at SS before the revised version with Timmy in. Perhaps a scheduled rest day, glad he played today, he can rest a game in Minnesota.
  15. Will SoxTalk stream the lifting of Robert's Banner veil ceremony before the game? Will be the first time all six White Sox will be fully visible in the banner since last season. is this real life?
  16. They don't even pay attention to the game they are broadcasting. The Score was goofing on these clowns making comments about the Sox Angels game that had no reflection of whatever was going on in the game. I listened to the radio broadcast all game and have the TV on mute, enjoyed laughing at some of their comments posted here.
  17. Vaughn is the White Sox MVP this season, and he is getting better each and every game. Everyone else is in their established role. Andrew learned two new positions on the fly, started as a 22 year old, with 55 games under his belt. Carried the team in July, nothing phases this guy. He is the real deal.
  18. Are we going to watch Al Michaels vacuuming in the bottom half of the fifth?
  19. It's raining hard now. Could have been done with five already if it weren't for Cease's poor control all evening.
  20. Fox Sports broadcasts suck, but not nearly this bad. ESPN should stick to Steven A Smith 24/7.
  21. White Sox down to two mound visits at this point. There was a reason Ricky and Hahn chose a bullpen game over Dylan Cease for Game 3 last year.
  22. Not a fan of the hit and run either. Or sacrifice bunts. Outs are precious and to be avoided.
