  1. I like Hahn and Williams going for it with Kimbrel, especially if it opens up Kopech to start or move to long relief so he can start next season with minor/no limitations. He isn't a starter beyond a few months if he hits 60 or so innings this year. Kimbrel or Liam? Liam or Kimbrel? Well played Rick and Kenny!
  2. I liked the class shown by the Guardians. Karinchak clearly didn't intentionally hit Abreu, and everyone on their team (Perez, Reyes, Karinchak) main concern was he was OK, with Abreu embracing Karinchak and Reyes. Has to be nerve wrecking on their side with the loss due to health of their long time manager, with this the first game as manager for DeMarlo Hale. Sox battled back in situations they have been laying down as of late. Should have good momentum heading into tomorrow. I really hope the doctors examine Jose again and not rely on just him say he is OK. Also hope Eloy is able to return over the next few games and has no long term or nagging issues.
  3. On radio, they say Tony starting yelling at I think the pitcher coming to see if Jose was alright, and Roberto took offense to Tony. Jose being lifted from the game, he needs a day or two off of not formally on the concussion protocol, no matter what he says. Head injury issues can linger for a long time.
  4. It’s not even the smart move for defensive purposes. Replace Goodwin with Hamilton. You can’t replace Leury in case an infielder goes down, just one of the many reasons Rain Man should be banned from playing him in RF batting eight for the god damn not even real platoon advantage.
  5. Tony is the primary reason the Sox are woeful (10-14) in 1 run games. They gave up nothing for Tepera.
  6. I like The Athletic’s take. https://theathletic.com/2742559/2021/07/30/craig-kimbrel-fills-white-soxs-biggest-need-and-answers-biggest-question-at-trade-deadline/?redirected=1 Craig Kimbrel fills White Sox’s biggest need and answers biggest question at the trade deadline
  7. He has played four games in a row (7/18-7/21) and the last two in KC. If he can play four times a week that will work, but Sheets / Goodwin / Hamilton should play when Engel is not. There is no reason for Leury to play OF any longer, I’ll blow a gasket if he plays when Robert returns just to get his switch hitting bat into the lineup. A competent manager limits him to infield reserve only, spelling Cesar Tim and Yoan with a day off each every two weeks.
  8. Definitely need him if A) They are converting Kopech and/or B) They are not very confident in Hendriks Hendriks is currently the third best reliever in the bullpen (Kimbrel / Kopech both better). Hendriks has given up 8 HRs already, Kimbrel 1, Kopech 4, with similar innings. With Tony fretting over four run leads, and the way he uses his bullpen (doesn’t use “his closer” on the road except for saves, more concerned with the save stat than high leverage vs. low leverage), they need all the help they can get. They haven’t announced it publicly, but I can’t see them letting Kopech finish with 60 innings this year pitching 1 inning the rest of the way, limiting him next year to a few months as starter next year, or stuck on this role as long as Tony is there. At least I hope that is the plan.
  9. Yes, but Rizzo Bryant and or Baez can return. The Rickets can continue to be cheap, but assuming no further Covid restrictions, the can bounce back quickly with a better farm system at hand. They were dead this season, think Hoyee did a great job considering the circumstances, will likely be a better long term President of Baseball Ops than Theo, won’t be as eager to take overpay on trades and free agents.
  10. Possibly, but there is also over $6M due, I haven’t seen any reports the Cubs are eating any of it. Also, are the Sox assuming any of the 2021 salary for Kimbrel?
  11. Still have to remember this is a brutal business, players who spent their whole careers leaving the players they built a championship with on no notice. Still haven't read whether the Cubs are assuming any/all/some of Bryant's contract. The Giants do not need "luxury" tax relief, so I'm assuming the Giants are on the hook for the prorated salary.
  12. If Lynn bounces back, Sox still have a good shot tonight. Meija has been bad (7.62 ERA), but they need to get to him before the bullpen takes over.
  13. I was too, I don’t know their prospects well either. I still haven’t seen reporting of cash / salary assumptions. I’m assuming the Giants are paying the remainder of his contract based on the prospects. That’s why fans can’t say the Dox should have could have done this or that, without knowing the details. I’m very happy with the trades this week.
  14. Big applause for Cesar! Start your White Sox career with a homer!
  15. Are the Cubs picking up some/all of Bryant’s salary in their deal with SF? Makes a difference regarding prospects.
