  1. Sheets goes yard, in front of his dad. Great day for Gavin and the White Sox!
  2. Buehrle accumulated nearly 3 times as many win shares. His similar pitchers are hall of fame / near hall of fame. Look at their peak years per JAWS, Mark 35.8 seven year peak (91st overall JAWS rank), Dallas 22.4 seven year peak (435th overall JAWS rank). @Vulture- They are not similar or same, or even close. I can't believe any Sox fan thinks Dallas Keuchel is anywhere in the same universe. The only "similarity" is they don't throw hard and they both played for the White Sox.
  3. I compared career comparable pitchers, based on the argument "they are the same pitchers". One has a bWAR three times as high, they are nowhere close to being the same pitcher.
  4. 1. This is the 149th game for the White Sox since Dallas was signed, so just under, not "anywhere near". He has 150 innings because he's been hurt, doesn't go long because he gives up a shit load of base runners. Blames Rickey Renteria, the outfield positioning, among other things for his failures. 2. They are not similar pitchers. Mark Buehrle at just under 4 fWAR per year is truly elite. Keuchel had 1.8 fWAR against the shitty central divisions last year, 0.6 so far this year past the half way point (may drop further after today). 3. Not to mention Hahn signed Turd Ferguson for $76M, or a few million less than what Buehrle was paid over his 11 elite seasons. Baseball Reference: Mark Buehrle: 60 bWAR, comparable pitchers (Two Hall of Famers - Jessie Haines and Catfish Hunter), Orel Hershiser, Bob Welch, Kevin Brown among the others) Dallas Keuchel: 22 bWAR, comparable pitchers (Teddy Higuera, Clay Buchholz, Chad Billingsley, Pete Vuckovich, Carlos Carrasco).
  5. You insult Mark Buehrle in a dream like that, you better wake up and apologize. Mark Buerhle 3.89 fWAR per season (11 seasons) + World Series Ace. Dallas Keuchel 2.4 fWAR in over a season with the White Sox, 10 out exit in playoffs with the loss.
  6. They reversed the initial call, another home run allowed by The Beard. Len is saying they are going to reverse it and make it a double.
  7. They should have brought up Yermin to catch behind Collins.
  8. Yes, he can sit out unpaid until 2027 to protest. You'll get $0 as an agent based on that salary/advice.
  9. Not to mention $36.5M for 87 games of "elite" game calling, catching defense, 120 games caught a year, .237 BA, pitch framing and a good bat. Perhaps he'll catch 100 more games before his contract is up.
  10. Wasn't attacking you, just stating my thoughts on the link. In response to your question, 1. Stone is paid to comment on the team. 2. It's likely the FO / Manager / Coaching Staff shares in most/all of these sentiments. 3. It's a counterpoint to Eloy's griping yesterday about wanting to play OF everyday and not DHing, without it coming from someone in White Sox management. 4. Let's the team know the team is most important, and there are no sacred cows on the team regardless of pedigree or contract (also see Eaton DFA).
  11. I don't disagree with a single word Steve Stone said during either segment (video from March or the quotes in the article). From the video: Eloy can't possibly help this team unless he is in the lineup. In order to be on the field, in order to be great, you have to be durable. Eloy has not proven that he's durable at all, and a lot of the injuries have not been of the particularly smart areas. From the article: What Eloy wants at this point is truly irrelevant. The number one priority of the team is winning this year. He has to understand where he fits into the grand scheme of things. Everything is secondary on an individual basis behind team goals. Eloy has to realize that. He's smart enough to realize that. It's what the White Sox want him to do and how he fits into a team that has fought its way to a seven and a half game lead where he hasn't played a minute of it. And so he'll come back, and fit in.
  12. Keuchel hates many things, his beard is his one true love. Can see the second half rotation / catchers set up as: Lucas / Collins Lynn / Zavala Rodon / Collins Cease / Collins (or Zavala if Kopech / Collins comes into play) Keuchel / Zavala Collins will be the primary once Grandal is gone, so it's good the young pitchers like to throw to Collins.
  13. Pitch him until his arm falls off, this is his last year under contract. No, seriously, I've advocated for a six man rotation for the time after the ASB, resume to a five man rotation around Labour Day to get pitchers on schedule for the playoffs. Suppress innings for rest (Rodon, Cease), and bad vesting options (Keuchel). Kopech will need to be ramped up slowly (2 to 3 to 4 to 5), so bring up another starter for a tandum, or reserve Crochet's 2 IP spots for Keuchel's games.
  14. The player gets airfare to return home. I am assuming the player gets to select his city of choice when he rents in Chicago but lives permanently elsewhere, unless a player must declare their "home city" for all compensation (including tax withholding). Would be cool if a player can ask for a ticket to say New Zealand or somewhere else they would like to visit. From the CBA
  15. https://theathFrletic.com/2680790/2021/07/08/mlb-tiers-ranking-the-best-all-time-draft-picks-from-all-30-teams/ Criteria: The top pick in terms of what a player brought to the team that drafted them. For example, Barry Bonds would be evaluated based solely on his time in Pittsburgh. Round 2 of the 1971 draft produced two of the ten Inner Circle selections. All categories/rankings are per The Athletic. The Inner Circle: Mike Schmidt (Philadelphia R2 1971) Albert Pujols (Saint Louis R13 1999) Johnnie Bench (Cincinnati R2 1965) Mike Trout (Los Angeles Angels R1 2009) George Brett (Kansas City R2 1971) Cal Ripken Junior (Baltimore R2 1978) Chipper Jones (Atlanta R1 1990) Ken Griffey Junior (Seattle R1 1987) Nearing The Inner Circle: 9. Clayton Kershaw (Los Angeles Dodgers R1 2006) Hall of Fame Picks (or should be): 10. Rickey Henderson (Oakland R4 1976) 11. Derek Jeter (New York Yankees R1 1992) 12. Robin Yount (Milwaukee R1 1973) 13. Roger Clemens (Boston R1 1983) 14. Tony Gwynn (San Diego R3 1981) 15. Frank Thomas (Chicago White Sox R1 1989) Drafted by Larry Himes 16. Craig Biggio (Houston R1 1987) 17. Buster Posey (San Francisco R1 2008) 18. Lou Whitaker (Detroit R5 1975) 19. Todd Helton (Colorado R1 1995) 20. Joe Mauer (Minnesota R1 2001) 21. Dave Stieb (Toronto R5 1978) 22. Gary Carter (Montreal R3 1972) - Fuck you Washington D.C., Jeff Loria, Bud Selig et al. Franchise Guys and Guys Who Got Away: 23. Evan Longoria (Tampa Bay R1 2006) 24. Barry Bonds (Pittsburgh R1 1985) 25. David Wright (New York Mets R1 2001) 26. Rick Reuschel (Chicago Cubs R3 1970) Ha Ha - I'd rank him below Thome. 27. Jim Thome (Cleveland R13 1989) 28. Ian Kinsler (Texas R17 2003) 29. Paul Goldschmidt (Arizona R8 2009) 30. Giancarlo Stanton (Miami R2 2007)
  16. I would jump to any conclusions as to why any criminal charges were brought against Bauer. The last comment that I've come across from the LAPD is this remains an ongoing criminal investigation which is "bigger than we (LAPD) thought". https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/mlb/police-say-criminal-investigation-of-dodgers-pitcher-trevor-bauer-bigger-than-we-thought/ar-AALI2SZ Hours after this police statement, the Dodgers placed Trevor Bauer on paid leave.
  17. I'm waiting for James Fegan to get a chance to ask Eloy legitimate questions such as: What is life in Heaven like, and did it meet or beat your expectations? What does God look like, and were you surprised? Are there any aspects of Heaven you were disappointed with? Can you provide a few examples of why returning to play for the White Sox is worth leaving Heaven, and are you sure you are making the right decision?
  18. Playoffs looking at Vaughn, Robert, Engel or perhaps Goodwin/Sheets/Lamb from left to right, with Hamilton the 5th OF and Eloy the primary DH. Not expecting more beyond the Ross discount rack RP or C over the next three weeks, similar to in the words of Steve Stone last August, ownership's major commitment to winning in troubling difficult times, i.e. Jarrod Dyson (he wasn't being sarcastic).
