  1. This, not to mention Eloy will be primarily a DH when he returns, since he can't field a baseball or stay healthy.
  2. Not to mention there are only a few dozen posts in a 22 page thread actually discussing the Grandal injury and timeline (original and revised).
  3. Didn't read " I want you to fracture my skull, repeatedly punch me in the face or anally rape me" in the "exonerating" article.
  4. Yes, the updated prognosis, shifting from the initial timeline of 4-6 weeks to “return before the end of the regular season (before Oct 3)” indicates the initial timeline will be extended. https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/white-sox/white-sox-yasmani-grandal-has-surgery-torn-tendon-knee One concern is lack of minor league games should this be pushed out past the end of the AAA season.
  5. Future White Sox calendars will note July 8th as Eloy Easter.
  6. Rajah Rajah's arguing over how to argue always brought this sketch to mind.
  7. I listen to games, so only hear about 1/5 of the complaints of the strike zone during the broadcast than what are discussed in game threads. It typically evens out over time, but for the good of the game I'd be for automated strike zones in 2022 (or 2023 / beyond if the owner's lockout exceeds one season). The umpires already agreed to it, though I would want controls in place where the players / umpires can prevent / veto any in-season changes (i,e, owners manipulate strike zones to increase offense in season, just as they have manipulated the baseball since purchasing Rawlings). The sport always needs safeguards to prevent ownership from destroying it further.
  8. Not to beat a dead horse, but this is the sixth and final time I get to post this within the past ten days. The Twins suck ass at every facet of the game. Enjoy fifth place Josh and company.
  9. Can TV viewers hear the air raid sirens the past few minutes? Edit: Len just said these are tornado air siren tests. They are 10 AM Tuesdays in Chicago.
  10. I get a feeling possibly once or twice a game, just pictured him driving the baseball after Engel reached.
  11. Surprised Hamilton is not in CF and Engel in RF.
  12. Checking the unwritten rules against publicly celebrating the release of a former teammate immediately after he was DFA'd. Just another instance of Hahn spending the money poorly, and too quickly in a buyers FA market.
  13. You’ll see Zavala, since Collins hasn’t had a day off since June. Besides, I don’t think Lance Lynn gives a shit who is catching, he just rears back and throws. I expect Collins to stick with Rodon and Giolito, and add Cease to his rotation, leaving Zalava with Lynn and Keuchel. That is unless Dallas raises a stink, which he is apt to do. Hoping Engel is truly “healed”, not like last time with his every other day availability. The Sox could sure use a MLB capable CFer beyond Billy Hamilton’s limited role.
  14. El Caballo is yet another example of a better defensive Left Fielder than Eloy Jimenez. I would like to see the White Sox 2022 and beyond budget, and contract terms before making any statement regarding any Lynn extension. The Sox have already committed over half of this and next years (if $130M) payroll looked up to players in their 30s declining in production and or health.
  15. It wouldn’t matter. Any morals clause would be subordinate to the CBA, which addresses Domestic Violence (DV). The Athletic has a good article regarding Ozuna’s current case and the subject of a “morals clause” in a players contract. The two methods the Dodgers can avoid paying Bauer under the current CBA are: 1. A suspension by the Commissioner’s Office under the DV policy or 2. A negotiated settlement by the player and team. A player can appeal to an independent arbitration panel any DV suspension. The longest DV suspension issued to date was the 162 game suspension given to San Dyson. The is no maximum specified under the public explanation of the DV policy on MLB’s website. @joesaiditstrue - Arby’s, They have The Meats. Thee Ohio State Unversity.
  16. Sounds like the Jake Arrieta era is over. https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/cubs/cubs-jake-arrieta-seeks-storybook-ending-4-years-too-late
  17. Abreu went a two week stretch to end June without an extra base hit. Moncada has one (Triple yesterday) since June 19th. Both should have been on the IL to get rest and recover, but both are/were gutting it out. Who's ball was that, Eaton or Goodwin? (Listening to the game, Len and DJ said they both lost it).
  18. He really just had the one bad inning when he was out of gas before leaving with near 100 pitches against the Twins last start. Lynn's innings are low due to the rain cancelled game he started.
  19. ERA post Pitcher Inspections: Lance Lynn 1.00 (9 IP) Carlos Rodon 4.20 (15 IP - through 5 tonight) Dylan Cease 4.76 (17 IP) Lucas Giolito 5.82 (17 IP) Dallas Keuchel 9.00 (9 IP)
  20. Wow, that's a quick inning for the Sox with the "Top of the Sox" order.
  21. Rest of the way (though fWAR can go up /down based on performance). Mendick still 3rd best (tied with Eaton). Here are the preseason fWAR projections Adam Eaton 1.6 Yoan Moncada 3.2 Jose Abreu 1.8 Brian Goodwin -0.2 Leury Garcia 0.9 Gavin Sheets -1.0 Andrew Vaughn -0.2 Zack Collins 0.7 Danny Mendick 1.6 Carlos Rodon 0.9
