  1. Danny Mendick has the third highest ZIPS fWAR projection in the lineup. FanGraphs 2021 ZIPS fWAR Projections for Today's Lineup: Adam Eaton 0.8 Yoan Moncada 2.0 Jose Abreu 1.2 Brian Goodwin 0.5 Leury Garcia 0.5 Gavin Sheets -0.1 Andrew Vaughn 0.4 Zack Collins 0.4 Danny Mendick 0.8 Carlos Rodon 1.0
  2. I’m just stating what Tony is doing with him, don’t know enough based on two games whether he can still play an acceptable 3B or not. Lamb looked god awful the few innings that game he played at first, would go with Yermin over him for defense. Lamb played 3B twice, 4/7 and 4/19, and that’s it besides a few innings late in a 15-2 game after Tony pulled Tim and Jose for rest.
  3. They don’t play Lamb at third, even when Yoan was out. They tried him twice at 3rd and once at 1B early on. The past several weeks he has played exclusively at corner OF or DH/PH.
  4. Engel returns tomorrow and he will start, so I’m grateful on that front. Hope he can play more than once every other day the last time he was deemed “healthy”, they can really use his defense near everyday in Center Field. Having to post this from the library, charging my phone since the third world Com Ed has failed my neighborhood with another non weather related neighborhood outage for the third time in three weeks. Missed the end of Spain vs. Italy as a result.
  5. Sox are fortunate to reside in such a garbage division, with three of the four not bothering to spend the bare minimum (bottom third), and the Twins fielding a pile of flaming shit this season. @ptatc - At first glance, is the four to six weeks too optimistic for a catcher to return to full strength, as opposed to a player with far less stress with the knee?
  6. After all the decades of Hawk Harrelson harping on Joe West, time will tell if Joe's impact to the Sox, good or bad, will be the result of his actions in a Sox game impacting the opposing team.
  7. Yes, I've always enjoyed a day at the park (Comiskey especially, but elsewhere as well). Win or lose, whether the team is contending or not. Not sure fans expected the Cleveland @ Tampa game to be the first game to be postponed today. They plan on a DH tomorrow, the fourth in Tampa's history, as the hurricane that is approaching today should be non threatening tomorrow.
  8. Most teams would make a guy like Molina (or his battery mate Wainwright) at his stage of his career available if they were out of it as the Cardinals are (7 1/2 games out of a WC). Not sure if it will happen, even if they consent to a trade, because they have been Cardinals for life. The team still sells out most games, will want to keep "Cardinals Nation" happy. If they can sell it as giving either/both one last chance at a WS, the fan base could be sold. Still recall during the offseason the Cardinals were seen as a near lock on the Division / Wild Card this year after their cheap acquisition of Arenado. The Cardinals are 12th in the NL (21st in MLB) in run differential. They have had minimal injuries, they just have played mediocre baseball.
  9. I do miss the Sox selling $3 tickets per game at the building I worked at for select weekday April, May and September games in 2019, and you could sit wherever you liked with the upper bowl closed for all of the games. Cost more to go to one Sox spring training game last year than eight 2019 regular season games. Tickets just under $20 are the best available this year on Stubhub, stuck in the upper bowl. Can't even buy scalped tickets outside after the game started since tickets are now all electronic. Meh.
  10. All I know is I don't want Grandal, Eloy, Luis, Engel (and Madrigal next year) to return to the field until they are 100% recovered from their respective injuries.
  11. Many here think "Nicky Two Strikes" (TM Benetti) is a lineup fixture for years/a decade plus. The board was also near unanimous Grandal would continue to catch 120 + games a season, in his mid 30s, when the Sox had no intention to do so slotting him with 3 of the 5 starters this season for just over 100 games, prior to his latest injury.
  12. Games played since Eloy's 2019 Promotion: 258 Yoan Moncada 177 Eloy Jimenez Games played since "Mr. 3000's" 2020 Promotion: 126 Yoan Moncada (and then the rest of this season) 83 Nick Madrigal Facts are stubborn things.
  13. They can call Jarred back up in July, and if he plays 61 more games, will have played more games than Nick Madrigal's entire career, with I believe two additional years of service time remaining under the current CBA since Jarred will be less than 1 year, with Nick at 2 years even though he was healthy enough to only play 83 games. Still skeptical whether Mr. 3000 will remain healthy and productive enough to bat 3,000 times in the major leagues.
  14. Agreed, but what if he merely the First Base coach?
  15. Let’s face it. Even with Eloy out and later Robert, the Sox had enough good pitching and players to overcome Tony’s dumb ass win probability sabotaging strategery. There aren’t enough players at this point to pick up La Russa’s absurd decisions. He really needs to go.
  16. It was over the hitters head per Len and ruled a wild pitch.
  17. Who is clearing these players coming back hurt (Grandal, Engel, Hamilton,)? The medical staff or Tony “I need to win 162 games” La Russa? I don’t ever recall so many players go down over and over re-aggravating the same injury, in Engel’s case at least three times.
  18. And to Reddit, Steve Stone’s Twitter account and the FBI.
  19. Do you seriously think he would feel anything?
  20. Asleep at the wheel is his MO. Hopefully he’s gone before the playoffs.
  21. Is he fully healthy, or only enough to play 2 or 3 games a week max like last time before he got hurt yet again?
