  1. How bad is it? Len said something looked like it popped.
  2. I posted the Twins sucked at all phases of baseball in the game one game thread last week, and was reprimanded during a futile Twins rally that they do not suck. Can they really be in last place? Is this merely a dream on a hot summer day? Let’s check Snopes: Snopes response: True. The Twins do in fact suck, are in last place, and Josh Donaldson is Jive Ass Turkey for not facing the music and vengeance this evening. Go Sox!!!
  3. LOLz. Players getting hurt jumping up and down after a ball game, yes common "maladies", Not going to bother sifting through all of that nonsense, I'll break it down so that even you can understand. The Chicago White Sox dictate where Eloy will play, not Eloy. Rick Hahn stated they will make the determination of future playing time, not Eloy. Eloy has been on the roster for 305 games. He has already missed 128 games and counting, or over 40%, all but a couple due to the fact THAT HE WAS/IS and will ALWAYS BE INJURED attempting to do something he cannot, play Left Field. You once attributed it to "Baby Fat". It's not Baby Fat. It's due to the fact that he is physically and mentally unable to field the outfield position. Let's see if these videos uncover whether Eloy has any ability to field his position, or stay healthy, playing LF. 1:55 Watch this fine approach of Eloy, unaware of his surroundings as he Kung Fu kicks the LF wall pursuing an uncatchable HR (it's Eloy's signature play). https://www.mlb.com/video/cg-det-cws-4-26-19 0:49 Eloy Jimenez, no awareness of the warning track or wall, in his home park, before headbutting the wall on, wait for it, another ball over the fence. 2:20 Too dizzy to track a ball hit to LF (in lands behind him, Robert retrieved it for him. Eloy is then pulled from the game, played on the DL. Eloy caught by Spider Man. 167 games of A. Ignoring the CFer calling him off, B. Closes his eyes and puts his head down and reaches out for the ball, pathetic technique. https://www.mlb.com/video/jimenez-leaves-with-arm-injury Same as it ever was, same as it ever was. Another jackass attempt at an uncatchable ball, this time in a meaningless exhibition.
  4. Even if you wave a magic wand and somehow Eloy improves from atrocious to bad in LF, the dual consideration is he cannot stay healthy. Eloy has a great bat. He sucks and adds no value as a fielder and is prone to injury. It behooves the team to keep him permanently at DH, to maximize the number of times Eloy can be healthy enough to bat in a White Sox uniform. 4/26/19 - Eloy Jimenez suffers a high ankle sprain attempting to play Left Field. Eloy is placed on IR, returned 5/20 7/16/19 - Eloy collides with Charlie Tilson attempting to play Left Field. Eloy suffers a right ulnar nerve contusion and is placed on IR, returned 7/28 7/26/20 - Eloy Jimenez attacks the wall in Left Field with his head and losses that battle. Eloy avoids IR, returned 7/29 8/25/20 - Eloy Jimenez twisted his ankle attempting to preserve celebrating Lucas Giolito's no hitter. Returned 8/27 9/24/20 - Eloy sprained his foot attempting to run the bases. Missed the remainder of the regular season and all but two at bats in the postseason. 3/23/21 - Eloy Jimenez tears his pectoral tendon, attempting to catch a ball 10 feet over the LF wall. Eloy is placed on the 60 Day IR, misses the first four + months of the season.
  5. I love that this subfolder exists, because I am not interested in free agent or trade rumors until a transaction is final.
  6. I never watch the All Star Game, could give a rats ass beyond player injuries. Nice for the players who want to go or have incentives in their contracts, or for fans who care. All three Sox pitchers should be available based on Lynn and Rodon going midweek, just hope they stay healthy. Sox hitters all really need the time off to recoup from injuries or the grind of playing nearly everyday beyond their injuries, so glad as a Sox fan none of the position players are traveling to Colorado. Hoping none get added because other players have bailed on the game.
  7. Wow, well he got good contact. Glad they found life at the end, hope they bring it to Minnesota.
  8. Wonder if Grandal was a decoy, thought he may pinch hit here
  9. The lack of starting position players are significant, but so are the runs allowed the past few weeks. Houston 10, 2, 7, 8 Pittsburgh 6, 3 Seattle 9, 3, 5 Minnesota 6, 3, 5 Detroit 2, 11, 6 (Bottom 7th)
  10. Going to be interesting seeing how the White Sox staff which bailed out the team in the first half holds up in the second half, both health and performance wise. Appears the sticky crackdown has most impacted Lucas, hope Katz can work with him to adjust. The wild card may be Kopech being inserted into the rotation, we'll have to see if there is any impact on his end as he's only pitched an inning since the change.
  11. Collins comes through again, keep the line moving Timmy!
  12. Yep, until Engel and Robert return, if Billy isn't playing he's the only above average OF at his position. I'm hoping he can stay healthy and contribute both ways.
  13. The problem with that is you can't have the corners play too far deep and the CF very shallow. When Vaughn Robert Eaton and Engel are available, the Sox can play a bit more aggressively. Billy Hamilton is the only above average OFer. Leury is below average at all three areas, Goodwin is brutal despite his speed, Lamb, Mendick Sheets have minimal to no fielding ability. The Sox have been cheating all year, trying to increase offense but at the cost of defense with Robert and Engel out. Runs cost by balls dropping in the gaps, or in front of OFers, are only reflected in the defensive metrics (or for pitchers FIP), whereas many fans just look at OPS/platoon splits as the main consideration for position player playing time. https://www.fangraphs.com/teams/white-sox/stats#leaders-fielding
  14. It's not sticky anymore. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/gamefeed?date=7/4/2021&gamePk=633410&chartType=pitch&legendType=pitchName&playerType=pitcher&inning=&count=&pitchHand=&batSide=&descFilter=&ptFilter=&resultFilter=&hf=playerBreakdown#633410 Four Seam Fastball -207 Spin Rate Slider -300 Spin Rate
  15. https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2021/7/3/22562470/white-sox-dallas-keuchel-has-problem-with-how-outfielders-are-positioned Didn't see Keuchel's post game statements mentioned here. Sounds like he has a problem with how outfielders are positioned in general, not just during his time with the White Sox based on the second quote. Glad he defended Hamilton, vs. throwing him under the bus, in what Hamilton would admitted say was a play he would have played differently in retrospect.
  16. Yeah, I stopped questioning the lineups a few weeks ago. Tony is an excellent driver.
  17. Yes and no. He is 5th on the all time ejections list, but he managed twice + as long as most of the others on the list. He was quick to challenge various media members to physical and verbal confrontations over the years, well at least those he thought he could take. For instance, there were no reports he went after Don Drysdale for calling him a "little dago" during a Sox broadcast. He was also involved in a bunch of petty unwritten rules and beanball wars that the prissy Cardinals are well known for. The key factor in terms of standing up for his players and staff is do they feel he has their backs? After the Yermin incident, all players who publicly commented sided with Yermin for playing to win over Tony's playing for the unwritten rules. Not sure if his age/health conditions/status allow him to do much of anything these days, beyond attempting to yell at Yermin to take pitches. Just one of the drawbacks of having a manager which time and the game passed by a very long time ago. He definitely won't challenge Amos Alonzo Stagg in the longevity department.
  18. Guess it’s time to watch the Trevor Bauer shit show on Fox, only placed on leave because the media had to once again shame Manfred into doing the right thing.
  19. A team knows the manager has their back when he goes out and defends them. Earl Weaver, Bobby Cox. Tony has made it very clear his top priorities in this job are: 1. Retaining his HOF / Get outta jail ring. Said he wouldn’t take the job without a guarantee it wouldn’t jeopardize it. 2. Hand out jobs to crony players and staff. 3. Prioritizing the unwritten rules above winning, his player’s safety, or his player’s backs. 4. Save Hendricks for save opportunities.
