6-19 GT: Sox @ Astros (6:15pm)

Dusty cheating leaving Valdez in too long. In his defense, their bullpen beyond their closer isn’t very good. -

I’d add Abreu to that list. The Sox aren’t going far unless he turns it around. Great May (1.053 OPS), terrible April (.690) and June (.564 entering today). Hope he starts something here. -

I like this Burr kid, hope he stays up when Kopech returns. I like the three man bench as well, especially considering the options. -

It could also be Tony isn’t a very good manager, at least in 2021 a decade removed from the game which changed drastically. A good argument can be made that both aren’t the answer, at least at this point. -

Not sure if this was a coincidence, but had to replace my older laptop within a few days of accessing those pirate links. Sticking with radio/ESPN radio app and watching the condensed game. -

Well Deserved. I like this broadcast team, nice to watch a game on TV. -

I hate those weak ass bat tosses on outside pitches. At least they tied it, crisp game. -

They needed $7M for Eaton. The money had been spent. -

Time will tell who was cheating in the second half, see if Katz is magic or he and Tony just laid out a spread of Spider Tack for the team. Now Houston doing stupid shit, hope they pay. And the Sox are in a familiar spot, Leury up in a key situation. -

Not sure why pitchers aren’t cheating until Sunday, before the inspections begin. Urena’s hat was clean last Sunday, got pounded. I believe Cease stopped digging around in his crotch as well. -

Love that Vaughn is OK to play! Yermin is still raking vs. LHPs (3 for 8 with a 2B his last two starts; .966 OPS this year). Hopefully he can build confidence with some good at bats tonight. Tim Anderson is my pick for a HR tonight. Go Sox!! -

Sox have a decent chance because they are facing a LH starter. Lynn will hopefully be good, but Houston spanked his ass last season so hopefully he will bounce back against them. My main concern for today is Vaughn is OK long term. They are at the limits of their OF depth with Roberts, Hamilton and Eaton out. Would love to see: TA SS; YM DH; YM 3B; JA 1B; AV LF; YG C; BG RF; AE CF; DM 2B, LG the only Sox likely to crash this party at 2B or in the OF. The other good news tonight is Crochet and Burdi are likely the only pitchers not available out of the bullpen tonight. Bullpen usage. Go Sox! -
Sox sign Adam Eaton 1 year, $7m plus option
South Side Hit Men replied to Greek-konerko's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Toxic how? He hit more home runs yesterday than Eaton has in over a month. The only good thing about the Eaton signing was he wasn't toxic like he was his previous stint. I spoke my peace regarding Eaton in December. He is old, declining and injury prone. Was told I was too pessimistic. Oh well, hopefully he can salvage a few good weeks later this season, and that the Sox will not pick up his option, no matter how much Tony loves him some spanky gritty grinder guys who can bunt and stuff. -
Are there still local newspapers or widely watched television news broadcasts in Chicago (or anywhere)? Tonight is one of the few games to be televised for either team over the air this season. Solid marketing effort to keep shrinking interest shrinking further, across both sides of town. Fegan is the only Sox beat writer who actually does something more than parrot the FO and kick out a game recap an automated writing program can mimic. Reminds me of the cigarette companies. Maximize profit now, your customers are dying soon. MLB stewardship the past four decades. Would never follow the team now if it wasn't embedded by playing and watching since the 70s. Not sure if they will ever recover interest in the sport which was still the king of all sports as recently as the 70s. It's not cold in here, you're just dying..... Sox @ Astros, 6/18 7:10 Central

Tony said pregame he is blocked at 3B, but an option for 2B if he "earns a promotion". I don't get into trade speculation posts, but it's likely something major won't happen, if at all (JR would have to agree to spend more money), until the Sox can assess the progress of Eloy and Luis as they begin rehabbing. They play a bunch of tanking/crap ass teams coming up Pittsburgh, Seattle, Minnesota, Detroit, Minnesota and then close with Baltimore before the All Star Break. Expect them to continue playing .500 ball against RHP and rake against LHP. -

The manager keeps ordering his team to make outs, either bunting or "hit" and running. Yermin, Yoan, Collins and others pegged by miles with this nonsense "strategery". And fuck Shelley Duncan, his veterinarian friend and anyone else advising him to continue lowering White Sox win expectation with each and every asinine small ball play call. They are facing a lefty tomorrow, their best chance to win in this series. Hopefully Tony won't fuck this one up as well. -

It’s a dumb play period, just like attempting to steal without a better than 3 of 4 success rate, or bunting except for pitchers who shouldn’t be batting in the first place. -
