Not sure if he'll have a single barrel to his credit before leaving baseball in the next few years. Also, the Sox had a much greater need for corner outfield the past few years. Just sad all around. -

I don't watch the games, but the few times I caught them, or even on highlights, Benetti is a bit much. I fear Stone has a year or two left and they pull Kasper from the radio both, both DJ and Len are excellent this whole season. -

With Eloy out, I prefer Grandal over Eaton, and when not, prefer TA, YM, JA, EJ 1-4 every time they start. Grandal should have DH'd today and C tomorrow (Yermin C today, Collins tomorrow vs. RHP), I never want to see Madrigal or Eaton at the top of the lineup, would rather better options at either position. -

Never cared about pregame, but cared about postgame, hearing from the manager and back in the day Rongey losing it after a loss. I wish they carried the entire manager post game Q & A, or for the club to stream it. Both only carry a few minutes. With Tony's limited speaking ability, it equates to one, possibly two questions a game. -

Lucas has 80 starts, isn’t the established veteran that Maddux was at the time, and the Sox traded the one established catcher he did prefer. When he leaves for greener pastures in a few years, perhaps he will take a catcher with him as well, a la Maddux or Yu Darvish this off season. He’s not at that point in his career. Also, I get the point and agree that when you CAN accommodate a pitcher with their preferred catcher you should. However there needs to be some flexibility, like today when you have two of your best four hitters out of the lineup, and now your sitting a third (not DHing if he can’t catch today). -

Dude, I’m calling on Grandal to at least hit today, not sit at both C and DH. Grandal may not be physically able to catch three days straight now, perhaps this is his routine for an extended period to keep him fresh. Mercedes played well behind the plate this Spring, if you’re keeping his bat in the lineup, let him catch and Grandal DH, Collins plays with his platoon advantage tomorrow and Mercedes can rest tomorrow after catching and with a RHP on the mound. Its smart both short term and for the long term once you get your ML roster players back and want a two catcher situation. -

The weaker pitchers need more help, Cease and Rodon. You sign a $74m catcher, and Giolito wants no part of him, sitting your best hitters. If he’s a good pitcher, he should be able to pitch to Mercedes and or Grandal. He said he publicly he was working with Grandal. Grandal may need the day off, but Mercedes should be allowed to catch. He caught well in Spring Training, is more valuable if the Sox go two catchers once actual major league batters start returning to the roster. -

Looks like he could be Giolito’s personal catcher this year, since he also caught him OD. Not sure why Giolito gets the kid glove treatment, should be able to pitch to any catcher, especially facing this horseshit team tonight. -

This Catch Mercedes DH Grandal tonight. Collins and Grandal can play tomorrow, sit Mercedes. Let the record show I’m calling for MORE Grandal playing time, especially after his performance yesterday, doesn’t have to catch since it looks like 2 days catching one sitting is his routine, at least to start the season. -
I agree it's likely. I would prefer Crochet to come up as a starter during the second half of next season, working toward 70-80 IP this season. Unlike Kopech who is expected to project fine as a starter, I understand the legitimate expressed concerns of whether Crochet's arm can and will hold up under the strain of a starter's workload. It is Tony's job to "win today", just want the FO & Organization's goals of balancing short term AND long term roster management to dictate how the team manages workload this season and beyond. Giolito, Crochet, Cease and Rodon can be a rotation to be "championship caliber" playoff rotation in 2022 - 2023 after gaining solid experience and progression this season. Picking up one or two bullpen arms is much more reasonable financially and feasibly than acquiring the equivalent in SP on the open market.
-
Was this stated by the organization, or your best guess? If he doesn't hit 80 +, he's not going to factor into a rotation slot next year. Seems short sighted if he is capable health wise to start at the ML Level. People here are found saying 7 > 6, but 150 + >>>> 60

Wimparoo, you have company. -
This is a rhetorical question, but is James f**an the only working media member who actually works beyond passing along press releases or owner/FO leaks? His work in the Athletic is superb, glad I signed up for their $1 / month promo offer, and also like his segments on the Score.

I took off Reinsdorf quote off, because you asked politely, and since La Russa isn't going anywhere unless one or both of them die. Hope this helps you, though it was always within website guidelines (both before and after the change). Hustler's Handbook is the name of my SoxTalk Fantasy Baseball team, and Comiskey Park is Comiskey Park.

Certainly beats the pricy crap Hahn acquired previously (Adam La Roche, Matt Davidson, Yonder Alonso, Parrot). Perhaps Jerry is right, don't give Hahn money and don't let him ever hire a manager. -
You can hand out free weed to people waiting in line to vote.

Agreed. Seattle is not a good team, but there were a few jams and Rodon was composed and focus, and did not let Seattle back into it when in the past he may have. More comfortable Kopech will be permitted to reach 100 + innings, allowing him into the rotation next year. Will allow avoidance of a Lynn extension. Yermin and Grandal were solid. Would extend the Madrigal comment to its looking like MLB is not his strong suit, and another wasted CWS Top Overall Draft pick.

Houston relinquished their American League and Division leads with their loss to Los Angeles. They play for AL West supremacy later today in Anaheim. Sad to see Baltimore relinquish their first division lead since May 20, 2017. Perhaps they can return soon. LOL, five games into a season. Dude, you're like a sad little puppy dog, following your master around the house begging for a treat. Never said he was a bad player, said he was a bad fit due to the team's budget, existing assets when he signed, and too large of a contract over four years for a catcher in his 30s, especially in light of the various other older player signings (Parrot and Keuchel last year, Hendriks and Lynn if they extend him, plus Eaton who was a mistake). Tony La Russa and Liam Hendriks approve of this message.

Very fun and easy game to enjoy. 15 Ks was likely not expected today, but glad to have listened to the broadcast (beyond the few minutes lost to network issues. Also first game to watch live with https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/ , a most excellent website. Hopeful for another win tomorrow with Lucas vs. another LH starter (Paxton), hopefully Keuchel can pitch decent and they leave with a sweep. I expect this to be a one page thread.

Much more valuable for him and the team if he can play a serviceable LF. The latter if the White Sox actually have the sense and balls to tell Eloy his days in LF are Ovah.
