It was less a function of "costing him a save" than it was unexpectedly warming someone up after Tony made the decision for Hendriks to get the final four outs. I'd chalk up Hendriks' 9th to having to sit through a lengthy top of the 9th, with two pitching changes, two additional mound visits and the Sox batting 9 hitters. I do agree with the assessment with the Ohtani at bat.

I'd like to see that as well for Collins, and then perhaps Mercedes can catch a few games to see how he does. I'd also like to see Eaton moved to LF and Engel plays RF, but that's likely not going to happen for awhile. Engel's the much better defender, though Eaton has never played LF, can see Tony waiting on a change like that at least at the start.

I believe more as a capable backup, so you don’t have a wasted spot like Jake Lamb. Uh, it was a sixty game season, his pathetic boss spent $18M on that garbage, didn’t have many alternatives in RF with the injuries, and they sat once it was clear they weren’t turning things around after 40 games, a timeframe most would consider reasonable to see if these sunk costs could turn things around. Was Ricky going to barge in Hahn’s office and say, “why did you sign this garbage you always bring me, I’m sitting them.” a few weeks into a season with no minor leagues to allow players to develop or display they are ready for the show. Eloy was hurt several times last season, OF depth was thin just like this year, and genius Hahn spent 1/4 of payroll on another catcher when they already had an All Star, and a DH when they could have rotated other starters through for rest or give the players you wanted to see a chance. Blame the idiot who continues to build shitty rosters with no depth and players out of position because they are limited to begin with.

I’d go with this rotation for several weeks to see who should get more playing time and how these rookies can hit with semi regular playing time, and how they fit defensively: Abreu 1B 85% DH 5%. Anderson SS 90%. Collins C 20%; DH 20%. Eaton LF 75%. Engel RF 70%; CF 10%. Garcia RF 30%. Grandal C 70%; 1B 5% DH 5%. Madrigal 2B 80%. Mendick 2B 20%; SS 10%. Mercedes DH 40%; C 10%. Moncada 3B 90%. Robert CF 90%. Vaughn DH 30%; 1B 10%; 3B 10%; LF 25%. Vaughn should at least attempt to play a position for a few months, for himself and the teams needs (ST and LT). Shift his 10% 3B away from him if that experiment with him is over. Abreu looks like he may be able to play strong at least 1-2 years beyond his current deal.

I liked the national radio broadcast of Boog and Singleton. TV, and local broadcasts (radio and TV) are a different animal, he’ll likely adjust over time. I do like advanced stats, though for a broadcast you have a wider audience to consider.

I’m with you, he can and should improve. Just saying calling him a .340 hitter isn’t an valid argument as to future prospects. He’s more likely to reach 3,000 hits than he is to hit .340.

This is an extreme on the opposite end. He will not be anywhere close to a .340 hitter, he only played 30 games. And Mercedes will not be an .800 hitter, either, though it would be cool if he did.

I’m still new here, why where people trashing Yermin in the past? He has raked every year and every stop.
