The player on the Padres you referenced should only be brought up on Soxtalk using this phrase, “He Who Shall Not Be Named.”

Why are incorrect pronouns used here in most every post?

Not directed at you, but the word "we" should only be in reference to fans. "We" do not play for, manage, coach or are members of the Front Office, beyond a few Rick Hahn/Kenny Williams burner accounts.

We as fans want the White Sox to do well. We as fans have absolutely zero to do with playing, managing or operating the Chicago White Sox.

Man I do NOT want Joc Pederson. I'd almost rather have Puig.

I rather have Mazara, and I really don't want Mazara but that may be the best the can do, hopefully at $2-3M as a DFA'd signing.

    Fixed.

    Not sure anything required "fixing",

One thing I am certain of, a lineup of nine Nicky Delmonicos would have scored more than 1 run against the Florida Marlins over two games.

ABC just cut into the game to show "Trump has COVID" coverage. They said the game was on ESPN but it's not yet.

What a joke. ABC News throws a hissy fit and pulls the game with three outs to go.

Cease obviously had a very rough year, but he has the stuff to be a good started if he could improve his command. He pitched flat out poorly and needs to take some big steps this offseason.

Dunning was dynamite at first, but got worse as the season went on. This could easily be attributed to fatigue from his TJ surgery.

I would disagree Cease had a "very rough year". He was 5-4, 4.01 ERA, 0.1 WAR, good at times, lacked command other times. He's also young for a starting pitcher (24) with 1 full season (26 starts) at the ML level. He has promise, and should be able to improve as he gains experience and works on gaining command.

Dunning is a AA pitcher coming off of a major injury, who would have benefited from experience at the AAA level. He was thrown into the fire and had very good performances. Like Cease, he is young (25). In a perfect world, he would start the year at AAA and continue to learn his craft.

Lopez is the one starter who took a step back this year and rightfully identified as having "a very rough year". Beyond his two solid outings at the end of the year (Det and at Cleve) , he was unable to gain command of his pitches. He has a lively arm, though he may never be able to live to his potential.

  6. Good God, the staff was running on fumes entering game 3 of a potential 22 game playoff schedule, and after cutting the vast majority (102 games) off of the regular “season” schedule.

The Sox will need enough innings to get through 100 more games just to reach a round one game three next year.

A few existing pitchers will have innings caps. The FO is going to need to build or add a lot more pitching depth to attempt to compete for a World Series.

Pitcher / Previous Full Season Professional Innings Pitched (year / level)

    Cease 141 (2019 AAA/ML)

    Dunning 144 (2017 A)

    Rodon 120 (2018 Mostly ML)

    Stiever 145 (2019 A)

    Kopech 140 (2018 mostly AAA)

    Crotchet 6 (2020 ML)

Absolutely no way. The fact that Jim Boylen was allowed to be fired is a miracle. Rick isn't going anywhere.

Jerry no longer oversees the Bulls. The White Sox will have a complete makeover this decade once a new managing partner and or new ownership group takes over.

Rick Hahn inherited a .500 team (85-77) when hired as GM, and took the team  290-309 .447 in his first four years while he was "trying" (and failing) to win (2013-2016). His record trying was marginally better than Rick Renteria's record during three years of tanking + this aborted season (236-309 . 433).

Rick Hahn hired Rick Renteria after an exhaustive 24 hour job search. Rick Hahn extended Rick Renteria's contract after 2019. Rick Hahn should not get a third bite at the manager apple.

If Gio can't work with another catcher then we might as well trade him to wherever McCann goes.

The problem is, Lucas isn't the only one.

OT: This just in, James Shields hit his 2nd homer tonight to put SD up 9-6. ?‍♂

The Sox are still beating Tatis Jr. 11 to 9 (4 runs 5 RBIs), though Fernando has last wraps with Game Three tomorrow.

Yes, Chris Emma should stick with the fucking bears, and leave hot takes like that article to SoxTalk.

Maybe Crochet got hurt because they used a starting pitcher out of college as a bullpen mule down the stretch and in a game 3 elimination. They wore his arm out, hopefully it's just strained and not in need of TJ.  Washington took the extreme caution route with Strasburg while the Sox treat their #1 pick like a rented mule.

Laughable. He pitched 6 2/3 innings over 14 days. If you were in charge, he'd be at 60 innings a year by 2030.

I almost bumped the thread but thought better of it. Fun to read now know that the trade pieces there sunk us this series.

Thanks, wasn't on this site until this year. Some of those posts didn't age well, but will post the one that has from the owner of the keeper league I took over (he drafted a great team).

We'll never know because Ricky yanked him after giving up 2 singles.  Two. Fucking. Singles.

He looked like shit out there. How many runs would you have allowed before pulling him? How many here would post "fire Ricky" if he gave up a single run? He looked like shit his previous two starts as well. That's what happens when you are relying on inexperienced Minor Leaguers because your GM gave you no other options.

  15. 42 minutes ago, Dick Allen said:

Ozzie and Frank were saying if you are going to use Rodon, use him to start an inning.. They said even Rodons wife knows he is not a releiver.

Yet Hahn placed him on the playoff roster as, wait for it, a reliever. Do these two ass clowns have it in them to criticize the man who can pull the plug on their dumbass broadcasting shit-show? Of course not. See Steve Stone for yet another "It's Ricky's call", when it is Rick's call, but Steve Stone doesn't have the balls to call it out.

He used 9 pitchers.  The odds of 9 pitchers all throwing well on the same day is zero.  Ricky fucked the game up when he panicked and pulled the guy built to give innings with two outs in the 1st god damn inning.  He put the team in a bad situation from jump and they could never recover.

The odds of his two #3 starting pitcher options throwing well for more than a few batters was zero. Hence the bullpen game. Rick Renteria did not acquire Fulmer, Rodon, Lopez, Gonzalez, and it's not his fault Don Cooper is stuck in the 20th century.

The only two starters the Sox can count on either threw away everything Cooper tried (Lucas) or was developed outside of the organization (Dallas). It's been a long time since Cooper "fixed" someone. Yet he is still here, because Kenny is still here, because Jerry is still here. Until there is a change at the top, like there was on the Bulls, the Song Remains the Same.

  17. The number one target should be Giant's Assistant Bullpen coach Ethan Katz. Katz replacing Cooper will do wonders over the next decade. Sad thing is until their is a change in ownership, Kenny remains and therefor "his guy/snitch/rat" Don Cooper remains.

The only bullpen decision I fault Ricky on is bringing in Rodon with a lead. That was a big mistake and really kind of set the tone for the rest of the game and the bullpen.

Rodon never should have been added to the playoff roster. That's on Hahn, the man who escapes all criticism on SoxTalk. The lack of other options, also on Hahn.

Detwiler was a better option. Hahn's ego, almost as large as Kenny's.

  19. Became excited last year with significant strides several on the team made. Several more stepped up in the bullpen, and Dallas Keuchel was a good addition. I hope the core of Abreu, Robert, Moncada, Jimenez and Giolito are able to build on this season, and more pieces can be brought in to give the team the depth it did not have to compete this post-season. Rick Renteria also deserves credit for continued growth and development by the team, he led the White Sox to one of their best seasons ever, and had a good post-season with the players (healthy and injured) at his disposal.

See you all after the next big off-season move, will take a break from reading four weeks (months? years?) of "fire Ricky". Had enough of reading these redundant and at times laughable posts since I joined.

    Cheers!

Good point.  Not on Ricky at all.  Let's give him a couple more years

Rick Hahn already did it. Rick Hahn hired Ricky in an "extensive" 24 hour job search. He gave him an extension last year.

The next General Manager should make the next managerial decision.

I said this in the game thread but I’m adding it here. There’s some irony in saying we should have traded youth for a veteran when Semien, Bassitt, and to a lesser extent Montas were all key for the A’s so far in this series.

Did Rick Hahn win the Series MVP?

    Bassitt Win (1-0)

    Montas Win (1-0)

Hahn should have added a bullpen arm or two, and gone with Detwiler over Rodon, which I have posted previously. Otherwise, I had no issues with what he did this year in season, and some of his lower end picks did very well (Foster and Heuer). I disagreed with those calling for a starter, and nothing good was available except Clevinger, and that would have been a disaster.

Bullpen management, calling him out for not playing McCann at catcher...etc. they are all going to town on Ricky

The idiot faction on this board would have gone batshit crazy if fWAR was benched today, or any day.

Even I would have questioned it, he was one of your best hitters. Is he saying Eloy shouldn't have started?
