If your rationale is that one good outing defines him more than virtually all the rest in recent memory being bad, that's absurd.

Anytime I read the word absurd on SoxTalk, I read it in Hawk voice from his Wagner rant.

“That is totally absurd” (0:40 mark)

  2. I'm surprised they didn't shift one of the morning (Reds vs Braves) or early afternoon games (either Chicago) to the empty ESPN Yankees / Cleveland slot tomorrow. The only schedule change was to shift the Cardinals Padres from 4 to 6 CDT, and leaving it on ESPN 2.

What is ESPN going to air in prime time? A replay of their daily programming of 2-4 guys yelling hot takes at each other? A 2019 WSOP replay? Magnus Ver Magnusson winning The World's Strongest Man competition from three decades ago?

This is a very good post and frankly why managers would be dumb to care about opinions of fans ever. One common complaint during the course of any season is the use of relievers in individual games. And like you said managers and pitching coaches have all sorts of reasons for not using their best on given nights. Every game is indeed game seven to many fans and a manager just manages for the long haul. ... Another fan thing is blaming a guy like RR for playing Grandal too much or EE too much when they are being outplayed by McCann and/or struggling. A manager has to play the big-time acquisitions no matter what. If you embarrass the GM, that is not good.

Not to mention the alternate reality many here live in, where there are not ongoing discussions between Hahn and Rick about the lineup, bullpen, rotation and roster during the regular season, and daily conversations during the postseason. As if Rick Hahn is sitting and fretting, oh, I don't like what's going on, I wish I could say or do something about it.

With an open dialogue, they can discuss the pros and cons of the current roster, and Rick's boss can agree to some tough decisions regarding key free agent and draft pick acquisitions. The same boss who hired Rick Renteria after a thorough job search of 24 hours, and who signed him again in 2019. Not sure why there is a lack of understanding of how a team, even an "old school" team like the White Sox, operates in the 21st century, but here we are after a successful season even the most optimistic among fans or the team could have expected.

Butterfly effect. The entire game happens differently which could have resulted in the A's scoring even more than 5 runs.

May want to shoot for something higher, like Eddie Debartolo being allowed buying the White Sox and bringing a 49ers like Dynasty to a still standing Comiskey Park.

Or Rick Hahn expanding on Tesla’s work and developing free electricity.

Or Rick Renteria choosing medicine and developing a cure for cancer.

Or Jerry Reinsdorf staying in Brooklyn and creating a 50/50 partnership with a fellow New Yorker, Bernie Madoff.

Do people really think this is the way the world works? It would have been a completely different game without those Madrigal plays, it could have turned out better for the Sox or even worse.

Yes, and it would be a completely different game if Madrigal consistent fuckups on the base paths and in the field did not occur. Then you get him running through stop signs and getting injured. Never having a fucking clue out there. It is regular and expected at this point.

The game plays out much differently if close, Sox could have won easy. You can’t give outs and games away.

How exactly would the game turned out “better” if the Sox escape the first scoreless, and Madrigal scores from third, versus sitting at second?

Madrigal's baserunning was a big reason why we didn't score in the 3rd.

So it's all their fault that they couldn't have scored a couple of runs over 7 innings?  It's on all of them.

It's Madrigal, Keuchel pitched well enough. Between Madrigal's two run error and baserunning miscue, Sox are up 4-3 with Colome pitching the ninth.

The White Sox only have ONE starter remotely close to money.

How on earth did they think they could go far in the 2020 playoffs?

Or maybe they did know and just didn"t give a damn.

Relying on bludgeoning teams into submission every game is not a winnable formula to insure an extended stay in the post-season.

And please, no more comparisons to 2005.

Although that team was a one-hit wonder (because the owner either couldn't or wouldn't take the organization to a sustainable level of excellence), it nevertheless placed itself as one of the best postseason teams in MLB history.

Jon Garland finished with more career wins then the current playoff starters combined. It will take time and development, and another veteran starter or two.

Wish they would replace Cooper with the SF Assistant who coached Lucas, especially if they lose McCann.
