You need what I'm drinking.
What are you drinking?
I usually drink a 16 ounce beer with a meal, and a 12 oz before or after. Had a 3 Sheeps Uber Joe and a AleSmith IPA today, both very good.
Cheers!

Football is of the lowest common denominator, by the lowest common denominator, for the lowest common denominator. Most people these days have the attention span shorter than a gif.
Baseball time has shrunk in this owner's contracted season, but it still has the peaks and valleys. They are just magnified due to the shrunk schedule. If Sox talk was the GM, they would go through more managers in a season than WalMart does across the nation.
Thousands of posts "they don't care", "yell at the players", "nobody is trying". To many, verbal abuse "works" with their spouse, kids and pets, and football, so it should work with baseball. I mean who doesn't love going to work and getting yelled at or ridiculed by your boss. If you don't, than you should get fired, you're not tough enough, you're not good enough. The White Sox need to get Football tough. Bears Weather Tough. Ruff Ruff Ruff.

Ricky is not getting fired so the entire point is moot.
but this may literally be the most nonsensical think put on this board.
Really. Jerry has handed out jobs to Ozzie's and Kenny's kids, once you are a friend of Jerry, you are a friend for life, and jobs are for life (Jerry's or yours).
If a poll was slapped up here, both win win over RR for 2021 manager.
There would be dumber hires than Ozney or KW Jr, here's Jerry Reinsdorf's first major move with the White Sox.

Yet if you were to conduct a poll RIGHT now, 90+% would still expect Renteria and Cooper to both be back next season, along with McEwing...god knows what's going on with Robert/Moncada, but it's hard for me to blame Menechino with the offensive numbers the team has put together this year, especially considering the Hahn FA acquisitions other than Keuchel and McCann has been BOTTOM 3 in all of MLB since he started as a GM with the now infamous Jeff Keppinger acquisition.
The whole organization is inbred and bizarre. Not sure if Renteria had any say in the hand-me-down staff he was handed (Weekend @ Cooper's, Clueless Joe, Capra and Boston.
Ricky's replacement candidates:
- Kenny Williams would angle for his son Kenny Williams Jr. to take over. VS.
- Ozzie and Jerry would be angling for Ozney.
Look what the Bulls did this off-season, once Michael had enough of being the laughing stock of the league. He hired competent professionals to conduct a professional job search, OF QUALIFIED AND COMPETENT PROFESSIONAL CANDIDATES OUTSIDE OF THE ORGANIZATION. They hired one of the best executives in the sport. Said executive has full control of the organization. He looked at the current head coach, found him to be inadequate, and replaced him a respected coach. This is what professional organizations do.
If Jerry still had final call over the Bulls, John Paxton would be their President, Gar Forman their General Manager and Jim Boylen their head coach. FACT! The only reason Michael made the change is he was so embarrassed by the laughing stock the team had become, the fan chants of Fire Gar Pax, The All Star game with no Bull's presence. Bull's Gar Pax Jim Boylen. The Sox have been run the same way, for 35 years since Reinsdorf purged the competent management Bill Veeck hired (Roland Hemond) and replaced him with ass-clown Hawk Harrelson. Hasn't changed since.

Just announced.
Rick Renteria signed a three year contract extension.
I wonder how many Sox fans would give up this year's "playoff appearance" right now for the pick of any manager...?
Rick Hahn already gave him a contract extension. Love what the Bulls did this off-season once Jerry was out of the way. The same needs to happen at 35th and Shields.
Bulls: Gar Pax Gone
Hawks: McDonough Gone, Bowman TBD
Cubs: Maddon Gone
Bears & White Sox: Same shit, different decade.

You need to walk him at that point. Hopefully this takes Gonzalez out of playoff roster contention. Lopez much better at this point for length.

Bad news is if this goes to extras, we have the worst base runner in the majors at 2nd (kidding CWS)
No, just one of the dumbest.

Have to swing at that one.
Nice to see Colome up and able to go.

Nice start to the inning by Yoan “He ought to be on the IL” Moncada.

There is no way you let him go almost 120 pitches right before the postseason. They’ve treated the last week of games like exhibitions and now treating it like a World Series game.
The opposite, you prepare a pitcher in the regular season, so that they are ready in the postseason. Ozzie or Ricky don’t wet their pants, let their pitchers work out of trouble. For the long term development of the pitcher.
plus he’s not going in four days, he’s going in six days.

SoxTalk wants pitchers to go more than 5 innings.
SoxTalk gets mad when pitchers go more than five
One poster said take him out after 45 pitches or he’ll get injured.

Encarnacion hustling the past two days. Let’s make it count.

Something to keep in mind. The Cubs lost yesterday. And if they lose again today, they may need to win Friday to clinch their division. Yu Darvish is scheduled to go.
The Twins w Berrios beat Darvish Sunday, the same starter the Sox with Cease on the mound beat the previous Monday.
Fear no one, except Angel Hernandez.

Hello, exactly.
Some of the meat being slung in this thread by a few remind me of the Arby’s monstrosity of a sandwich rolled out a few years ago.
SoxTalk, we have the meats!

sorry i laughed. but how is that even possible with how good this team was a month ago.
Baseball, plain and simple, magnified with this farce of a season.
Could have had a meaningful season but the owners had no interest in it. Would have had playoffs with zero games if they could get away with it.

What is chewing the guys out gonna do? They aren't gonna magically hit top notch pitching and beat hot teams because they are getting yelled at.
Ozzie won one time, primarily the result of a top veteran staff. There are multiple reasons why he’s out of baseball.
Buehrle 214 Wins
Garcia 156 Wins
Garland 136 Wins
Contreras 78 Wins on his 30s (Cuba in 20s)
Keuchel 90 Wins
Giolito 31 Wins
Cease 9 Wins
Dunning 2 Wins

We will get the 17 games in 17 days killed them.
Cardinals and Marlins the only two teams with a legitimate excuse in terms of schedule, both likely in the playoffs.

Lucas is not going to see a softer lineup in the playoffs, with three sub .200 hitters (two sub .160). Need to keep it to 1-2 runs and batters need to extend counts to reach the heavily worked Cleveland bullpen.
Keeping the faith.

If they did I wouldnt be a baseball fan. Why would I care? If the Sox were in the east we never would have been close to 100 wins the Yankees and Red Sox were putting up year in and year out. If we were in the West then the same could be said for the Athletics consistently throwing up high 90 win teams. I wouldnt give a shit about the sport.
Why did you give a shit about the sport since 2008, assuming you are old enough? You shouldn't confuse the mediocrity or worse of recent Sox teams with the inability of MLB teams willing to compete to actually compete.
Also, all five AL East teams have won the Division at least once since 2014 when Tampa clinches this week. Four of the five AL West teams did the same. Such a pity a seven year time frame cannot satisfy the instant gratification participation trophies provide your cursory and negligible "fan" interest. Carry on with your misinformed remarks.

OK boomer
Not quite, and all ages should support season integrity, especially those who buy tickets for one of the 81 exhibition games (or 30, when the owners want to avoid honoring signed contracts).

My unread text messages now are set to a notification level of 88. Thus, it means Robert is breaking out tonight in an unlikely fashion.
Exactly.
I'll take a walk, a hit, and a catch near the wall as signs of a breakout. Just needs to get his confidence back, playing near everyday maximizes the opportunities.
I have confidence in the team tonight, Bieber is most excellent, but if the team works the counts and remains patient they can get to him and their bullpen.

I remember him and Roland, did a great job with the Sox including their second best season (99 wins, 1 shy of 1917, tied with 2005) in club history.
Bill Veeck always had an eye for great talent, sad they were purged. Not many win 4 pennants and 2 World Series leading their organization.
