The Twins w Berrios beat Darvish Sunday, the same starter the Sox with Cease on the mound beat the previous Monday. Fear no one, except Angel Hernandez. -

Hello, exactly. Some of the meat being slung in this thread by a few remind me of the Arby’s monstrosity of a sandwich rolled out a few years ago. SoxTalk, we have the meats! -

Baseball, plain and simple, magnified with this farce of a season. Could have had a meaningful season but the owners had no interest in it. Would have had playoffs with zero games if they could get away with it. -

Ozzie won one time, primarily the result of a top veteran staff. There are multiple reasons why he’s out of baseball. Buehrle 214 Wins Garcia 156 Wins Garland 136 Wins Contreras 78 Wins on his 30s (Cuba in 20s) Keuchel 90 Wins Giolito 31 Wins Cease 9 Wins Dunning 2 Wins -

Cardinals and Marlins the only two teams with a legitimate excuse in terms of schedule, both likely in the playoffs. -

Lucas is not going to see a softer lineup in the playoffs, with three sub .200 hitters (two sub .160). Need to keep it to 1-2 runs and batters need to extend counts to reach the heavily worked Cleveland bullpen. Keeping the faith. -

Magic Number: Playoffs - 0; Division - 4

Why did you give a shit about the sport since 2008, assuming you are old enough? You shouldn't confuse the mediocrity or worse of recent Sox teams with the inability of MLB teams willing to compete to actually compete. Also, all five AL East teams have won the Division at least once since 2014 when Tampa clinches this week. Four of the five AL West teams did the same. Such a pity a seven year time frame cannot satisfy the instant gratification participation trophies provide your cursory and negligible "fan" interest. Carry on with your misinformed remarks. -

Not quite, and all ages should support season integrity, especially those who buy tickets for one of the 81 exhibition games (or 30, when the owners want to avoid honoring signed contracts). -

I'll take a walk, a hit, and a catch near the wall as signs of a breakout. Just needs to get his confidence back, playing near everyday maximizes the opportunities. I have confidence in the team tonight, Bieber is most excellent, but if the team works the counts and remains patient they can get to him and their bullpen. Not intimidating: -

Hahn clarified eligibility last week during his press conference, and struck down some misconceptions including the Sept 15 active roster deadline date bantered about here and elsewhere. The rules regarding the expanded playoffs, including taxi squads, the elimination of the bogus extra inning rule for playoff games, and other aspects can be found here: https://www.mlb.com/cardinals/news/mlb-announces-expanded-playoffs-for-2020 The roster rules can be found here: http://m.mlb.com/glossary/transactions/postseason-roster-rules-eligibility Hahn indicated the White Sox playoff roster will be submitted to the league on the date it is due to allow maximum flexibility among the 40 players eligible. -

In 2001, Houston / Cardinals tie, broken by a tie-breaker and not a Game 163, was the first example of two teams claiming a "co-division championship". Before Division Titles and the regular season meant something. Like all other aspects of MLB, ownership greed has rendered the regular season a marathon length exhibition season, followed by a few dozen games which actually matter in terms of revenue and a "champion" played by a majority of teams not good enough to win a five team division. "Wild cards" expanded from two to four and now ten teams, or a majority of the sixteen teams competing for a "championship". Sorry, but if you cannot beat four other teams in a lengthy season, you shouldn't be able to complete for a championship. I follow the season because of Rotisserie baseball, but the expansion has made the playoffs a farce which I rarely watch. -
I agree with the Big Hurt about Robert

That negates his main attribute, walking to allow the primary run producers to drive him in. Putting Grandal 2nd and Moncada 5th (or behind Roberts if still ill/slumping) also works. Hope Grandal returns for the final series. -

Like the lineup! Parrot went two for three yesterday. Mazara out. Would lie to hear which relievers are not available. Have to assume Foster, with Colome questionable baring an injury update. Have to also assume Grandal is PH / Emergency only beyond a further update. -
Wasn't the biggest Hawk fan, but my favorite Hawk moment I heard after I came home from THE regular season game of 2005. Was three rows from where the HR landed. HR @ 7:30 mark, Hawk's "JOOOOOOE CREDE!!!!!!!" my favorite non-funny Hawk moment @ 7:48. Favorite White Sox Third Baseman of All Time: Joe Crede Eric Soderholm Vance Law

Great article, thanks for posting. Robert will have a great career, just hope he can bounce back a bit for the playoffs. -
I rarely b**** about umpiring, but the only match-up I fear for the White Sox this postseason is having to face Angel Hernandez. We are assembling video of all the bad calls tonight by Angel Hernandez. It's 3 hours long. — Chuck Garfien (@ChuckGarfien) September 22, 2020

With Tiny Nick at second.

Would like the Sox to make a major play for Ethan Katz this offseason, especially if McCann isn’t returning. There are many pitchers who could benefit.

Agreed, hate seeing them lose, but this is the week to play bad vs. the alternative. Going to try to find the full Ricky Renteria press conference after going out for a walk to blow off some steam and burn off the two beer calories I had today. Cheers Dick Allen, remember you from WSI, glad to see you are still following the team closely and posting here. -

You make a good point, unless Joe went to the mound and had to make a decision with an injured Foster. Cooper still plays a role in terms of working with the bullpen catcher and pitchers to determine who is available and who is not. Still haven't heard a reason the past decade why he is still here. Gonzalez needs more time to warm up than a typical reliever. Colome was the first option, if he doesn't have back spasms, and or Robert caught the ball he should have near the wall, ballgame is likely the White Sox'. If Bummer returns and with Crochet's emergence, the Sox still have one of the best bullpens in the game. The starters need to get to the sixth. I remember when everyone crapped the bed on WSI against Cleveland toward the end of the 2005 season, Joe Crede won it with an extra inning game and then went on to roll from then on. Then again, they had four veteran starters, this team has one and an emerging starter. Lopez is their third best starter in September, against higher quality opponents than Dunning or Cease faced, likely will be bypassed if the Sox need a forth playoff starter. At least he has played well enough to make the roster. -

Rick told Joe to pitch Foster, said McEwing made the call to switch. Rick is stuck with decades long Friends of Jerry, McEwing was brought in by Ventura, Cooper over four decades. Hahn's not going to allow Ricky to do anything with these two, they are lifers as well.
