Sox/Padres October 1……loss 101?
South Side Hit Men replied to Soxfest's topic in 2023 Season in Review
Yes. 1970 is the only 162 game season with more losses. Worse than any of the three declared tanking seasons (2018). 9/30- Sox vs Padres, 100 Losses!
South Side Hit Men replied to flavum's topic in 2023 Season in Review
People came out for this giveaway. It was a sunk cost of tickets already purchased. If scumbag Clevinger wasn't pitching, I would have considered going to pick one up for the young nephews who like the Disney film Coco. Bringing them a Luis Robert Jr. bobblehead each, hoping to get them to like the Sox vs. their Cubs fan father, or the A's if they move to Vegas. -
Sox/Padres October 1……loss 101?
South Side Hit Men replied to Soxfest's topic in 2023 Season in Review
Elvis Andrus has the second best OPS in the lineup, currently .655. Vaughn is number one at .744, with Eloy (.758) the lone active hitter above him. Not sure I'd talk to or listen to advice from Ozzie about anything job related or not. Tony La Russa would be my first go to, between player discussions, learning about the FO/Jerry, and other input. Miguel Cairo and Ricky Renteria would be good resources as well in terms of recent White Sox managers. Nice start to day by Urena, nice to see Remillard finish well. -
Kenny did it because he knew Rick and he would be fired. Kenny decided to f*** over Jerry after the decades Jerry screwed over Kenny, White Sox fans across the globe, and Chicago taxpayers, culminating in the La Russa hire and the implosion of any hope to accomplish anything since 2005. I really can't blame Kenny. Jerry deserves every slice of misfortune he gets. I hope they have 100 loss seasons through Jerry's final breath.

Being a decent human being transcends wins and losses. Pedro is not a good manager, but Clevinger is not a good human being, which he has displayed repeatedly throughout the years, and the reason he'll hopefully be joining his fourth team over a 55 start period (54 since 2020, 55th and fourth team in 2024).

Hope this is the final White Sox game ever I don't have to skip because of this asshat. Would be a fitting end to his stay here. 5 Outs; 7 Hits; 2 Walks; 6 runs all earned A cherry on top of the season, he will always be remembered for delivering the 100th loss for only the fifth time in White Sox history.

2023 AL Central Division Thread
South Side Hit Men replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
I love that Detroit passed Cleveland today and hope they win tomorrow to finish 2 games ahead in the final standings. Also loved the late season push by the Royals. A couple more weeks may have allowed them to pass the White Sox in this dismal season. -
Yep. Sox traded Chris Sale, an all time great White Sox, for Moncada and Kopech, both highly thought of prospects. Yoan put up two excellent seasons in 2019 and 2021, battled hard with COVID in 2020 but hasn’t been the same since. Kopech is still a player with potential but no substantive results beyond a decent 2022 as a starter and 2021 as a reliever. Sale has suffered a few major injuries with the Carmines, but still has nearly the same bWAR (17.1) as Yoan (13.9) and Kopech (4.5) combined, albeit at a much higher salary. Also won a World Series ring for his efforts. Sale, Abreu and Robert are once a decade stars. Like to enjoy them for as long as possible.

The "Royalization" of the White Sox...
South Side Hit Men replied to Lip Man 1's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Jerry and Chris Getz in the owners box. -
I'd fire Preller the day after the regular season, don't care that he has 3 years left on his deal. The Sox can recover within 10 years if Jerry dies. The Padres cannot. Soto, Snell and Hader all walk with zero to show for it, or add even more fuel to Preller's payroll arson. Burnt all those prospects in the process. Arne Moreno looks at the Padres situation and says WTF, those guys are crazy. $1,077,000,000 for five players, all but five seasons during age 30s - 40s seasons. $337M for 10 more seasons of Manny Machado (Ages 31 - 40) $327M for 11 more seasons of Fernando Tatis Jr. (Ages 25 - 35) $255M for 10 more seasons of Xander Bogaerts (Ages 31 - 40) $80M for 4 more seasons of Joe Musgrove (Ages 31 - 34) $78M for 5 more seasons of Yu Darvish (Ages 37 - 42)

Answer this honestly. If you're the Brewers, wouldn't you want to slate the Cubs as the #3 Wild Card at this point? Don't hate the player, hate the game. Playoffs of Texas hosts Minnesota and Los Angeles hosts Milwaukee in a three game series to play the best respective league team resolves a lot of this bullshit.

I would have bet Shaw over Kopech. 2018 - 2023 Innings Pitched 332 1/3 Michael Kopech 311 Bryan Shaw

They will need to change the way they operate if they ever want to legitimately contend for "multi-championship seasons" for the first time since Larry Himes' early 1990s teams (well until Jerry sabotaged during his futile attempt to kill the union). They need to keep Luis Robert Junior. Even if they get three legitimate solid players dumping Robert, they will need at least a dozen more. They need to find out a way to get a dozen more, and hopefully Luis will still be here. White Sox fans should have a chance to enjoy their best players for as long as possible, and hopefully play and stay long enough to join the list of Thirteen White Sox Pennant and or World Series winners! Career 30 + bWAR White Sox with a Championship * or Pennant 68.3 Frank Thomas (2005) 67.5 Red Faber (1917, 1919) 66.8 Eddie Collins (1917, 1919) 63.9 Ed Walsh (1906) 50.0 Eddie Cicotte (1917, 1919) 49.4 Billy Pierce (1959) 48.9 Mark Buehrle (2005) 47.4 Nellie Fox (1959) 35.3 Luis Aparicio (1959) 34.1 Doc White (1906) 33.2 George Davis (1906) 33.1 Ray Schalk (1917, 1919) 32.0 Fielder Jones (1901, 1906) Career 30 + bWAR White Sox without a Championship or Pennant 77.5 Luke Appling (1930 - 1950) 66.8 Ted Lyons (1923 - 1942; 1946) 51.7 Wilbur Wood (1967 - 1978) 41.4 Minnie Minoso (1951 - 1957; 1960 - 1961; 1964; 1976; 1980) 39.4 Robin Ventura (1989 - 1998) 31.8 Jose Abreu (2014 - 2022) 30.2 Thornton Lee (1937 - 1947) 30.1 Chris Sale (2010 - 2016) Note *: Includes 1901 American League Championship - There was no World Series played until 1903.
