I will miss the Jesus White Sox radio commercials this offseason. Jesus did come in handy throughout this season.

Game threads should be for individual games. Hope this series thing created by @flavum goes away in 2024. That is all.

I don't see the other MLB owners approving that relocation. Now that the Tampa Bay and Oakland situations appear to be in place, I see MLB looking to move on expansion within the next year or two, with Nashville the prime number 1 contender. Manfred doesn't want Montreal because their taxpayers don't pay for billionaire's capital expense bullshit in Canada. The remaining American candidates are as bad as Vegas' MLB viability (Charlotte, Portland, Salt Lake City Good Lord).

Kim Ng was pretty pissed off based on reports last evening. Hoping the Marlins make the playoffs.

CPD Commander John Spellman interceded on behalf of Jerry Reinsdorf 's Chicago White Sox and Jerry Reinsdorf's security firm At Your Service LLC, while working as supervisor for Jerry Reinsdorf's internal security firm during the game in question. John Spellman did not implement CPD Patrol Chief Brian McDermott's request to stop the game for public safety reasons. As a result of John's actions, acting CPD Superintendent Fred Weller has demoted John Spellman from Commander to the rank of Lieutenant. https://chicago.suntimes.com/crime/2023/9/28/23895258/chicago-police-demote-commander-white-sox-park-shooting?utm_campaign=socialflow-cst&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter No further updates at this point regarding the Chicago Public School shooter responsible for this debacle.

I hope the Bears don’t win until at least November so the streak goes beyond 12 months. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/boxscores/202210240nwe.htm

He spent his entire tenure here playing games on his phone and watching Sox games with Jerry, perhaps sitting on Jerry's lap.

Frank Thomas, Jose Aberu, Mark Buehrle and Chris Sale are my Mount Rushmore of this list under Jerry. I bought a $1 ticket but ended up staying in bed (usually sleep from sun rise to early afternoon. They listed attendance at 23,522, but I believe that includes all the tickets given out to their Season Ticket holders. How many appeared to be there?

Most MLB FO and Managerial contracts are 3 years or more. If you only give a 2 year deal, they are a lame duck after the first season. Theoretically you hire someone that is both qualified and a person you want to lead a team or organization. Well at least that is how most of the other 29 teams operate. This is how the White Sox operate, both as an organization on on their injured players.

I didn't state it was a paywall, I stated you needed to register an account there to sign in to their website and view articles. After clicking a few of Lip's links and encountering that, I stopped clicking links as I couldn't get past that request even via the show reader apple phone selection which works for other sites. It appears that restriction has been removed recently during their drive to try to sign up 3,000 donators. Hope they hire James Fegan to cover the Sox in the future.

I thought they were a 70ish win team coming into the season. That said, if you would have told me in March they would fire Hahn and things would possibly be worse afterward, I would be upset. I’m skeptical of success under Jerry’s tutelage, but all of this (performance, tanking trades for not much back, current player talent level throughout the organization, continued poor first round draft picks, guns stashed in fat folds, alleged domestic violence against women and infants, a possibly worse GM than Hahn with no job search) has to effect every Sox fan, whether they are naturally optimistic, pessimistic, or somewhere in between. I think that’s why so many want 100 losses, to remember and mark this as (hopefully) the last worst possible Sox season imaginable in their lifetime.

The lower bowl sell out includes the twelve thousand plus free tickets they issued to season ticket holders. I doubt many of them will show, so there should be plenty of space to spread out. They are not selling any tickets or opening 300/500.

Len says there will be a big crowd tomorrow. Hoping not too big, want some space. Final number likely between White Flag and Official Tanking Years. While the Sox are underachievers in terms of Pennants and World Series, it's seldom (six seasons) the Sox finish in dead last in the American League, including this season. The White Sox finished with the worst overall record across The MLB in three of the six seasons (1931, 1948, 1970). Seasons the White Sox finished dead last in the American League: 1948 51-101-2 .336 44 1/2 GB 1970 56-106-0 .346 42 GB (A. L. West, 52 GB Overall) 1934 53-99-1 .349 47 GB 1931 56-97-3 .366 51 1/2 GB 1976 64-97-0 .398 25 1/2 GB (A. L. West, 34 GB Overall) 1924 66-87-1 .431 25 1/2 GB

Jerry paying Rick, Kenny AND Pedro to stay home for four combined seasons? Sox have a better chance at acquiring Ohtani.

Pretty sure Brian Bannister signals more Katz, though it's possible I'm wrong.

I believe you still need to sign in to access the Sun Times articles. I just click Show Reader in the upper left hand corner on my I Phone to get pass many paywalls including both the Sun Times and Tribune, both of which I really only use for the Sox at this point. RIP Chicago Daily News (December 23, 1875 - March 4, 1978) Chicago's last great news paper. The Sun Times was OK until Murdoch bought it. The Tribune is a Will County / Du Page County newspaper. The Chicago Reader and other independent news sources are what I have used since I started accessing the internet in 1997.

Narrator: "Jerry's first change was replacing Roland Hemond with Hawk Harrelson. The rest is more of the same." -
The 1970 team had some solid young pieces, whereas the current Sox have Robert, and Eloy/Vaughn if you squint hard enough. Wilbur Wood was promoted out of the bullpen after working with Johnny Sain (of “pray for rain” fame), and became a Top 3 Cy Young contender the following two seasons (11.7 & 10.7 bWAR) and solid to excellent thereafter until his knee injury. Bill Melton, age 24, made the All Star team in 1971 with a 5.7 bWAR season. Carlos May, age 22, who would make the All Star team in 1972 with a 4.3 bWAR season. Bart Johnson, age 20, with two solid Sox seasons on the horizon (3.7 & 3.9) They also flipped Ken Berry for Tom Bradley who had two excellent seasons (6.2 & 5.4 bWAR). Then again, Stu Holcomb brought in Roland Hemond and Chuck Tanner as well for a big turnaround, and acquired Dick Allen for Tommy John. Jerry’s big move is keeping Pedro and promoting Getz.

Would have also listed the Mets if they didn’t hire Sterns. Another solid candidate never considered by Jerry, even for an interview to ask how successful franchises conduct business. Beyond Himes who Jerry hated for building his best organization but not kissing enough Reinsdorf ass, Jerry only hires people who shoot the s%*# with him in the owners box (Hawk, Kenny, Hahn, Getz) or recommended by La Russa (Schueler).
