  1. Was between Brian Anderson’s final number his last three Sox seasons and my selection. Steve Stone had a solid season for the SSHM, so I am going for him. He is a solid announcer as well for the Sox, and has stopped attacking fans on Twitter, so that’s nice.

  2. Far rather have Tim in a 2024 White Sox uniform than a Sal Perez, Elvis Andrus, Grandal or other end of career players. There is possible upside with Tim, even if one considers it slim. Injuries have played a role the last two seasons and he is motivated to play hard for his 2025 contract if he is able. Tim had a 4.7 bWAR in 2021, and would be worth a prospect or two in July if he can hit the 2-3 + bWAR range in 2024. Its not as though they are competing next year as acknowledged, and Jerry is just going to pocket most or all of it depending if they sign yet another Elvis type vs. playing your barely AAAA level infielders on the 40 man roster, waiver wire or Rule 5.
  3. Kim Ng's first offseason / season after George Costanza s%*# canned from the Marlins. https://www.masslive.com/redsox/2023/04/derek-jeter-tried-to-run-mlb-team-like-george-costanza-from-seinfeld-former-exec-says.html 2023: Kim Ng's Marlins 81-75 $92.5M Payroll (23rd) 2023: A. J. Preller's Padres 78-80 $248.9M Payroll (3rd) 2023: Ken Hahn's White Sox 60-97 $181.1M Payroll (13th)
  4. Checks notes. Kim Ng has Burger for five years controlled. 1/2 game out of the playoffs. Chris Getz has Pedro Grifol for two years controlled. 26 games out of the playoffs.
  5. Boston was the first series the Sox won since August 7-9. Likely the last.
  6. I did between 1979 until 2005, then didn't give a rats ass because the Sox won a World Series and the Cubs were still chasing. Didn't want it to happen in 2016, but wasn't too upset. It would have sucked if the Sox were still stuck on 1917. I don't follow much beyond MLB at this point, but Chicago Bears losses (I don't watch any NFL games) and New York Rangers and Toronto Maples Leafs elimination are just three examples of schadenfreude I enjoy more than Cubs, though I did get a chuckle out of that play. Thought of Ron Santo and Don Young. And the Sox game is over 15-4. Yikes. No Sox starter listed for tomorrow, but Touki is slated for Thursday. He gave up 7 runs the last game I saw him a few weeks ago, so hopefully he isn't tipping pitches and or can locate pitches for strikes.
  7. That one is new to me. Good tune. I thought of The Pride of Alton, Illinois when I saw your bold reference.
  8. If they had enough players to legitimately compete, than perhaps it would make sense to spend the money elsewhere. If they don't pick up the option, Jerry is just going to pocket the money, so I'd like to see if they can flip Tim and Yoan at the deadline, after four months of playing for their next FA contract. An offseason trade would work as well. He's not blocking a legitimate starter the first four months of the season. Perhaps Bummer does something as well to flip in July. Hell they got value for Lance "I Like Steak" Lynn, even with his MLB worst 2.18 HRs / 9 innings for starters (minimum 100 innings). Elvis, Grandal and the other non controllable FAs should not return, there is zero legitimate trade value with these guys.
  9. What do you mean? Time to listen to music or quote songs or other clips here? I used to listen to rock, metal and just regular popular music until the late 90s. I listen primarily to jazz these days, but still enjoy the classic tunes every now and then.
  10. Sell the team chant coming in loud and clear on the radio broadcast, in between Len and DJ talking about the Cubs game and NL Wildcard nonsense including this play.
  11. Yes, this was a special circumstance allowing him to do it. There were about 20 in the Club level during Game 1 vs. KC, perhaps 80 or so for Game 2. 500 has been closed weekdays for a few weeks at this stage, only open for Friday-Sunday. They will get a decent crowd if weather is good Saturday for the La Catrina Bobblehead. I don't expect more than say 5-6K there for Thursday max now that they have scrubbed the season tickets clear with the refunds. Hopefully it gives a chance for lower income folks to enjoy a game for a change. Sucks that people who would like to plop down a dollar at the window without a credit card and cell phone can't. Doesn't impact me, but there are many Chicagoans who don't have both. Jerry cares more about selling credit card and phone data than accommodating all Chicagoans and future potential fans. Yes, he is the only game broadcaster willing to speak out during the broadcast. Stone takes pot shots at time on the Score. I really enjoy Len and DJ, hope they remain a radio team into a new ownership and hopefully solid White Sox baseball.
  12. Free scoresheet at guest services, free toilet paper for a limited time in the bathrooms. They may still have free water fountains, not sure. I believe they are completely closing both the 300 and 500 levels. I’ve only been there when they closed both for the Expos at Marlins played here during a Miami hurricane. Been there many times with 500 closed.
  13. They won more in 1959 because the Yankees sucked for once. Ozzie Ball is not the formula for long term success. When you purchase a team in March, you're not going to have an impact on the roster. If you are a genius like Bill, you can vastly improve marketing and fan interest, hence the doubling of attendance. The same happened with the Chicago NHL team after Dollar Bill died, and his son started televising home games. They won championships as well, and were beloved until the Aldrich story broke. With Rocky gone, Danny has a chance at a fresh start.
  14. The Sox are pounding the pathetic Diamondbacks. This thread will be awfully quiet. Hope @tray enjoyed Eloy's three run blast. I have my $1 ticket for Thursday, sort of feel guilty paying Jerry that much. Won't buy anything in the stadium, if I have time Red Hot Ranch / 35th Street Red Hots pre game. Also want to hit the Guinness opening at 11 AM, so it's a tight day.
  15. It’s not a coincidence that teams which built and own their own stadium are the most successful franchises across the MLB. The Blue Jays are dinged for Canada’s weaker currency. (rank on 2023 MLB Forbes Value List) The Four Current MLB Stadiums built and owned without public funds: 1912 Fenway Park (#3) 1914 Wrigley Field (#4) 1962 Dodger Stadium (#2) 1989 Rogers Center (#14) Stadiums Not Located within the cities in their current team name: Atlanta Team (Cumberland) Los Angeles Angels (Anaheim) Tampa Bay Rays (St. Petersburg) Future possible stadiums: Las Vegas Athletics (Paradise) Tampa Bay Rays (St. Petersburg) Las Vegas gets somewhat of a pass because few if anyone including many who live there know that The Strip was built in unincorporated Clark County. Paradise and Winchester are unincorporated towns managed by Clark County, and they have Las Vegas addresses (same as Summerlin), which is not the case for the other two teams. The N. L. Team should be renamed Cobb County Peaches, the Georgia Hammers, and the Angels should embrace their OC heritage and be called the Anaheim, Orange County or return to California Angels. Atlanta’s minor league teams have (AAA Gwinnett) or are in the process (A Rome) of eliminating the offensive racist name.
  16. Hopefully the Sox won’t play short handed for a year and a half like they would have with this scenario under Kenny Hahn.
  17. LOL, 10 games out of first place was what Chucky boy accomplished in 1958. Attendance decreased over 300,000 from 1.1 million to under 800,000. Veeck won the World Series his second year in Cleveland, won the AL Pennant in his first year in Chicago. Drew record crowds in both stops, record attendance in 1959 at 1.4m and even greater in 1960 at 1.6m, 100% higher than Chucky’s club. Chuck screwed Veeck and the White Sox, screwed up after Bill sold and had nothing to show for it, which is what he earned. Dorothy, not Chucky, was given the majority of the team by his Mommy, and he stormed off multiple times when he didn’t get his way. The Sox would be the same set of losers as all the other failed Chicago teams who passed down from generation to generation. Will be the same s%*# show if Michael inherits and keeps the team. Hopefully he is content mucking up the Bulls after Jerry moves on, and the Sox can have their first decent owner and human being in charge of the White Sox since Bill Veeck. Bill Veeck is in the Baseball HOF and deservedly so for all he did on behalf of the sport, Cleveland and winning and saving the team to stay in Chicago.
  18. Wonder if the Sox will provide an update and bring up Naquin to man Center Field with Trayce Thompson to close out the season. Good Lord.
  19. Very nice. I hope you guys can repel the Californian invasion from ruining your area and state as they have Nevada, Colorado, Montana and other states. Bankruptcy and forced external reforms is the only path to salvaging Illinois at this point.
  20. Chucky boy was a spoiled brat, sabotaged Bill Veeck. They sucked ass under various widows and orphans for decades, finishing within ten games of first twice in 27 years Games out of first place under various Comiskey widows and orphans: 1932-1939: 56’; 31; 47; 19’; 20; 16; 32; 22’. 1940-1949: 8; 24; 34; 16; 18; 15; 30; 27; 44’; 34. 1950-1958: 38; 17; 14; 11’; 17; 5; 12; 8; 10. Bill Veeck’s Records: 1959: 94-60 American League Pennant (only pennant in over 80 years). 1960: 87-67 10 GB Sells the team in 1961 to recover from poor health including World War II leg amputation and treatment at the Mayo Clinic’s for cancer. Saves the team from moving to Denver in December 1975. Lines up future Super Bowl and Stanley Cup champion owner Ed Debartolo to purchase the White Sox. American League owners block sale, demand Brooklyn Dodger carpet baggers purchase team. The Sunshine Boys proceed to destroy the White Sox and their fan base over the latest near half century through 2023 and beyond.
  21. Living in Cubbuck, Idaho, or in Texas produces different opinions, same as those folks who have lived in the suburbs here previously or currently. I don't think it's a smart decision to leave unless they are going to Tokyo or perhaps Mexico City. All I ask is if they move is to call themselves Naperville or Alsip or whatever place they end up and not cling to the city name they chose to leave or some sad variant (Chicago White Sox of Romeoville). Feel the same way about the ridiculous two New Jersey NFL teams and others. Do it right, like New England (instead of Boston since they play in Foxboro, which is closer to Boston than Naperville is to Chicago). Would be fine with the Illinois White Sox as well, since it would be accurate, same as how the Rangers do it (and Marlins did it until they moved to Miami).
  22. Disco Demolition Night. It was the most widely attended and remembered baseball promotion in the history of the game. The second game should have either been played or rescheduled, and the pearl clutching back in the day was laughable. "There was reefer", now the State of Illinois and many others pawn it and gambling among other vices. Wasn't happy with Sparky Anderson that day, but still like him overall between his success in the game and telling the owners to GFY and refusing to manage scabs in 1995, which got him blackballed by the scumbag trash pizza peddler Mike Ilitch, Jerry Reinsdorf and rest of the owners who went with loyal to ownership garbage managers like Terry Bevington and Buddy Bell during this era. Any random inning of Terry Bevington was far more embarrassing than Disco Demolition, and Buddy Bell somehow managed a worse career winning percentage than GMs Rick Hahn and Hawk Harrelson.
