Luis Robert Jr. is the lone successful White Sox hitter. He is also the only one on record saying he wants zero information from the coaching staff, and the only one known on record to not knowing their names on record. Wibder if that is just his make up, or do to what he has witnessed in the organization and the best course of action when dealing with Getz’ player development people and the coaching and four (Ricky, Tony, Miguel & Pedro) and counting managers he has played for since arriving in 2020.

Wanting teams barely over .500 fight to negate an 162 game season for a couple weeks. It is nearly as sad and about as meaningless as the entire college basketball season at this stage. May as well make every season 60 games like 2020. A meaningless regular season with players getting 37 cents on the dollar. The Sox should play the Cubs 30 at home, 30 on the road, and let both make the playoffs as long as they are within 10 games of .500. Europeans don't stand for this crap when it comes to their domestic leagues. One Champion, determined entirely within the season. Their Champions League could use reform, but they do it right in each country and will continue to do so as long as the absolute garbage American owners don't get their way and flush the integrity of the game down the toilet like they did here. 1969-1993 MLB Format (16 teams in each league, two eight team divisions post expansion): 12 X 7 = 84 Intra-Division and 10 X 8 = 80 Inter-Division for 164 total games. Opening Day = First Monday in April, Game 164 Last Sunday in September. Division Ties = 1 Game Playoff Monday (Home Team = Team With Better Head to Head, second TB Better Intra-Division, third TB Better Run Differential). League Championship Series 2-3-2 = (Wednesday & Thursday) - (Saturday, Sunday, Monday) - (Wednesday & Thursday). LCS Weekday Game = 4 PM EDT / 1 PM PDT. LCS Weeknight Game = 8 PM EDT / 5 PM PDT. LCS Early Weekend Game = 3 PM EDT / Noon PDT. LCS Late Weekend Game = 7 PM EDT / 4 PM PDT. World Series 2-3-2 = (Saturday & Sunday) - (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) - (Saturday & Sunday). World Series Weeknights = 8 PM EDT / 7 PM CDT / 5 PM PDT. World Series Weekend Games = 3 PM EDT / 2 PM / Noon PDT. All Star Game the lone other interleague game. People will finally care about watching the ASG again and the WS again.

I recall a Twilight Zone episode where Confederates approaching Gettysburg found a book of Satan/Witchcraft containing a spell to freeze Union soldiers. In the end, the soldiers decided it was better for the Confederacy to lose than to invoke Satan to win the war.

Winning with honor and class is what is important. Winning a piece of metal with dishonor creates problems far worse than losing a game, solves nothing. The White Sox won their World Series with Bobby Jenks on the mound, the Cubs Aroldis Chapman. Grateful I have the Sox memory and not the Cubs. Rocky Wirtz' organIzation covered up Brad Aldrich's crimes instead of doing the right thing and reporting him to the police. The Astros Brandon Taubman was fired for taunting women reporters in the press box with "Thank God we got Osuna! I'm so fucking glad we got Osuna!". Northwestern, Penn State, Oho State, Michigan State, likely additional "Big" "Ten" teams. Doesn't matter if they have the all time winning coach and national titles. They all ended in dishonor and disgrace.

South Side Hit Men replied to wegner's topic in 2023 Season in Review
I didn't realize it was a Clevinger start and listened to the Sox strand two in the first and the first batter in the bottom half. Took a shower in the early afternoon before hitting a brewery. Considering a second shower now, washed my ears and earbuds in the interim to be safe. Really hope they don't end with 99 losses. It would be just another 2023 failure. -
It’s the worst current stadium in baseball. The Metrodome was the only one worse out of the 42 MLB stadiums I visited. The location is still bad, but if it’s nicer inside, perhaps a retractable roof for the Spring games when it’s still nice would help get more people to attend and support the solid teams they field. Brewers Stadium II is nice when the roof is open, but it sucks when it’s closed (dark, loud, depressing). That is how the new Rangers Stadium looks on TV. Their prior stadium was a fun park to visit in the Fall and nice weather. Baseball is made to be played and enjoyed watching outdoors. I don’t think Florida in general is a good market for baseball, just CFB and the NFL. Not sure the TV ratings matter down there.

Benintendi and Grandal are the only consistently looking to extend an at bat and take a walk, and Grandal is leaving. Tim and Robert are swing first guys. Robert says he doesn't want any information, rather react with his natural talent that has taken him this far. Yoan abandoned any attempt to walk after 2021. Eloy is not going to change. Perhaps Vaughn has the ability to learn and get better command of the strike zone with work, approach and coaching. They will need to emphasize the importance of walking to their current prospects consistently across levels so that they have a chance once they are promoted here. Everyone pretty much looks clueless and out of their element once they leave Charlotte over the past decade or so.

I think they will continue to pretend and contend that they intend to field competitive ballgames, sans the meet me at the parade bluster. If they improve several areas of the organization, they may field legitimate competitive teams the second half of the decade. A change in ownership would help immensely. 2009-2020, 2022-2023 regular season + playoff win totals: 79, 88, 79, 85, 63, 73, 76, 78, 67, 62, 72, 36 (of 63), 81, 57 I do hope they keep Robert Jr. with the intension of keeping him a White Sox for life. Sox should always have one star player kids can look up to and know he is among the best in MLB. My players since I was conceived in 1968: 1968-1970 Tommy John 1971-1974 Wilbur Wood 1972-1974 Dick Allen 1975-1976 Rich Gossage 1977-1981 Chet Lemon 1982-1990 Carlton Fisk 1991-2003 Frank Thomas 2004-2011 Mark Buehrle 2012-2016 Chris Sale 2014-2022 Jose Abreu 2023-???? Luis Robert Jr.

I believe that land purchase is for long term development around the stadium (hotels, retail). He could be purchasing so he can sell to the ISFA at a sweetheart record profit agreement as he did White Sox land in 1987. A baseball stadium and the additional parking to accommodate 40,000 will require more land Jerry has now. Doesn’t mean eminent domain land grabs won’t happen again on behalf of Jerry for all additional land he demands.
-
You and all White Sox fans are in for disappointment over the next few seasons minimum because they will be tanking. 2021 was the lone season the Sox attempted to compete since the blackout game, and only because Jerry opened the purse strings for La Russa’s return to “right a wrong”. Hahn, of course, did a half ass job, with continued holes at RF, 2B, and defensively with DH Grandal behind the plate leading to the ass whupping applied by Houston, save the Leury home run the Sox will literally be paying for until October 2024.
-
And they are taking less than optimal deals in terms of location. Tampa will continue to face the isolation issues being on the wrong side of the bridge (not closer to the core Tampa Bay fan base). Oakland’s Tropicana Hotel site is much smaller than the original proposed site across I 15 where the Wild Wild West stood. They will barely fit the stadium at the current on strip site, which will limit development revenue and also limit locals interest in going to games with the constant congestion on the Las Vegas Strip. Chicago shouldn’t provide a penny beyond perhaps street/sewer infrastructure if they move from 35th and Shields. Hopefully Jerry will be gone soon, and a reasonable replacement finds the benefits of staying in Chicago.

Pretty sure most White Sox fans could agree we could wait a few months for the right hire. Six of the other fourteen American League teams have a longer current streak than the White Sox. Seattle, Baltimore and Minnesota have a shot to break the streak this season. Longest number of years between American League Pennants (1901-2022): 49 Washington Senators II / Texas Rangers (1961-2009) 46 Seattle Mariners (1977-2022) Current 45 Chicago White Sox (1960-2004) 43 Milwaukee Brewers / Saint Louis Browns (1901-1943) 41 Los Angeles Angels (1961-2001) 40 Cleveland Guardians (1955-1994) 40 Philadelphia / Kansas City / Oakland Athletics (1932-1971) 39 Baltimore Orioles (1984-2022) Current 39 Chicago White Sox (1920-1958) 32 Oakland Athletics (1991-2022) Current 31 Minnesota Twins (1992-2022) Current 31 Washington Senators I / Minnesota Twins (1934-1964) 29 Kansas City Royals (1986-2014) 29 Toronto Blue Jays (1994-2022) Current 27 Boston Red Sox (1919-1945) 27 Cleveland Guardians (1921-1947) 24 Detroit Tigers (1910-1933) 23 Washington Senators I (1901-1923) 22 Detroit Tigers (1946-1967) 21 Detroit Tigers (1985-2005) 21 Minnesota Twins (1966-1986) 21 Saint Louis Browns / Baltimore Orioles (1945-1965) 20 Boston Red Sox (1947-1966) 20 Los Angeles Angels (2003-2022) Current 19 Cleveland Guardians (1901-1919) 18 Cleveland Guardians (1998-2015) 18 New York Yankees (1903-1920) 17 Boston Red Sox (1987-2003) 17 Chicago White Sox (2006-2022) Current

The White Sox have the least number of regular season titles (11) across the "original" eight American League franchises. If Houston wins the American League West, they will tie the White Sox with six American League Division Titles, despite the fact the White Sox had a 44 year head start. American League Pennants Won (1901-1968) 29 New York Yankees (1903) 9 Philadelphia / Kansas City / Oakland Athletics (1901) 8 Boston Red Sox (1901) 8 Detroit Tigers (1901) 5 Chicago White Sox (1901) 4 Washington Senators I / Minnesota Twins (1901) 3 Cleveland Guardians (1901) 2 Milwaukee Brewers / Saint Louis Browns / Baltimore Orioles (1901) 0 Washington Senators II (1961) 0 Los Angeles Angels (1961) 0 Baltimore Orioles (1901-1902) American League Division Titles (1969-2022) 20 New York Yankees 17 Oakland Athletics 12 Minnesota Twins 11 Cleveland Guardians 10 Boston Red Sox 9 Los Angeles Angels 9 Baltimore Orioles 7 Kansas City Royals 7 Washington Senators II / Texas Rangers 7 Detroit Tigers 6 Toronto Blue Jays (1977) 6 Chicago White Sox 5 Houston (2013) 4 Tampa Bay Rays (1998) 3 Seattle Mariners (1977) 1 Seattle Pilots / Milwaukee Brewers (1969-2012) Total Regular Season Titles (Pennants through 1968 and Divisions 1969 - 2022) 49 New York Yankees (1903) 26 Philadelphia / Kansas City / Oakland Athletics (1901) 18 Boston Red Sox (1901) 16 Washington Senators / Minnesota Twins (1901) 15 Detroit Tigers (1901) 14 Cleveland Guardians (1901) 11 Milwaukee Brewers / Saint Louis Browns / Baltimore Orioles (1901) 11 Chicago White Sox (1901) 9 Los Angeles Angels (1961) 7 Kansas City Royals (1969) 7 Washington Senators II / Texas Rangers (1961) 6 Toronto Blue Jays (1977) 5 Houston Astros (2013) 4 Tampa Bay Rays (1998) 3 Seattle Mariners (1977) 1 Seattle Pilots / Milwaukee Brewers (1969-2012) 0 Baltimore Orioles (1901-1902) Note - Records do not include Houston or Milwaukee's NL Pennants or Divisions.

The only thing worse than the 2023 White Sox are the hideous 1983 uniforms. Sad Jerry continues to ostracize Carlton Fisk, who was a far superior baseball player than Harold Baines. I loved Harold Baines, but Jerry even ruined that by conspiring with DUI Balco Guy to jam his crony BBHOF bullshit candidate down the garbage veterans committee’s throat. 1983 White Sox bWAR Leaders: 5.1 Richard Dotson 4.3 Carlton Fisk 4.0 Floyd Bannister 3.7 Dewey LaMarr Hoyt 3.6 Scotty Fletcher 3.2 Rudy Law 2.7 Vance Law 2.6 Salome Barojas 2.3 Greg Luzinski 2.2 Tom Paciorek 2.2 Harold Baines

If your kid is under three, you can pretend the opposing team are the White Sox and celebrate a win. ? It would be hard for the Sox lineup to score a run over 36 innings. I’m able to remember the exact date of my first White Sox game because it was a rain shortened loss to the Yankees. Sox scored seven in the first, only to give up seven in the second and later lose. A totally White Sox experience. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHA/CHA197607200.shtml

2023: MLB news not AL Central-related
South Side Hit Men replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
I gave up following Liverpool when these scumbags ruined the team, tried to ruin the entire EPL with their Super League / No Relegation schemes. John Henry and American sports owners are by and large welfare queen scum. -
Funny, I still remember and cherish the 1978 Bucky Dent game, Reuss vs. Nolan Ryan a couple years later. Braves vs. Giants in 1993. Sox fans remember fondly they blackout game in 2008. All of that was flushed down the toilet expanding playoffs from four division winners to the 12-16 team bullshit playoffs of the past few seasons. Could have a final few weeks that really matter in both AL divisions, and an assured battle of the titans between the Braves and Dodgers, clearly the two best teams. Interest in the sport is declining because of the greedy Reinsdorf money grub of claiming "meaningful September games", when nobody across the country gives a rats ass about this seeding musical chair bullshit. The 162 game season was called a championship season for a reason. Now it's garbage like the other three pro sports, and college basketball, allowing any team with a pulse to claim their playoff participation trophy, and downgrade the World Series to not a contest among the best over the long season, but a contest between who was hot and healthy over a couple weeks in October. When seasons and championships mattered, baseball drew over 40 million viewers each game. Today, they get 10-12M with double the American population.

The Chicago way also to bury this story, clamp down on the detectives and the CPD from pursuing this further. http://secondcitycop.blogspot.com/2023/09/seeing-cover-ups.html?m=1 The CPS teacher shooter is lying and not cooperative. Jerry is lying, and his security as seen throughout this season in various brawls is as shoddy as his on field product. If only this were a kid handing out free popcorn, Jerry and his security would have pounced on this instantaneously.

Hope you enjoy the game and they win for you and your family. They have a booth out on the centerfield concourse that has a certificate and perhaps other giveaways for fans attending their first White Sox game. Should be decent seats at a good value available, especially with football on tomorrow during the game. I scored club seats for under $14 weekday. They closed the UD during the week, but I believe it's reopened for the weekend, so make sure to get lower deck seats so you can check out the whole park and not be isolated in the UD. Cheers!
