This sounds about right, but a new owner (Jerry sells or passes) may be far more reasonable to get something done, especially if the sale includes the Sox portion of the cable network. Don't agree with other suggestions for Arlington Heights (seriously, they will not draw in that area at all, staunch Cubs territory) or Soldier Field. What I haven't heard here is utilizing the Robert Taylor land for parking, and creating something similar to the original Armour Square Park Plan with even more room. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/the-white-sox-ballpark-in-chicago-that-never-was-and-could-have-changed-history/ All those acres west of the Dan Ryan can be converted to residential and amenity real estate. There could be no displacement for the east of Dan Ryan parking because most of that land is still vacant (south of IIT/35th) on Federal Street. Build a people mover monorail across to the stadium (like at O'Hare between the terminals) to get people back and forth in 3-5 minutes. https://www.google.com/maps/place/3600+S+Federal+St,+Chicago,+IL+60609,+USA/@41.8294589,-87.6293972,18.25z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x880e2c11db4a0807:0x3827245c08fbce9d!8m2!3d41.8291935!4d-87.6291295!16s%2Fg%2F11c24s79r1?entry=ttu The other alternative would be to utilize the dead space at and west of the old post office that's been vacant for years. (Harrison N, Kennedy W, Polk S, River E. The Blue Line stops right there at Clinton, plus LaSalle Street Metra and you could build a similar people mover monorail from the Metra Stations to the Park.

Being a fan of the city of Vegas I really want a new team, not Oakland to move there. Even if I had no interest, the City of Oakland gave them more than fair offers, and the people there deserve to have their own team just like us. I believe Baltimore will beat everyone to Nashville, and unlike the Sox will actually be in a better long term situation in their new city. MLB owners in general want to keep Nashville and Las Vegas available for moving stadium extortion leverage and expansion possibilities. They made a poor decision to not hit Oakland with a maximum relocation fee as they have viable options to stay in Oakland or a nearby city not controlled by San Francisco.

Thanks. Wonder if Jerry and/or Kenny were pushing for an ex-Sox star manager to push ticket sales and interest. Do recall reading Kenny asking Paul Konerko to serve as player manager, but he turned them down. To me, Rick and Robin both should have been gone after not being able to handle the Drake La Roche situation, running to Kenny to deal with it. Should have had a new EVP after 2016 and let them rebuild the organization.

The Sox have an all time winning record (.502 11th among the 30 teams). Mediocre, not great, not poor. Postseason is poor, though the Sox are the only team to have their entire legitimate multi-championship core decimated by Judge KKK Landis. Things would have turned out a lot differently if that had not happened, could have been the American League's best team throughout history. Just laid out Jerry's tenure is approaching under .500 status. Gives the vast majority of us wanting a new owner, not a new city, something to follow for the rest of this season.

The Sox need to go 6-31 .162 (55-107 overall) for the Sox to be under .500 regular season for Jerry's entire ownership reign entering 2024 (3,368 - 3,369). It would also mark the most losses in a season in White Sox history. The Sox are overall losers in the playoffs (17-19) under Jerry, so they can end with an 8-29 .216 record (57-105 overall) this season to clinch a losing record across all regular season + playoff games (3,887 - 3,388). Jerry Reinsdorf is the only owner who appears on the list below three times. The Eleven White Sox Seasons below .400 Winning Percentage: (ties excluded) .325 49-102 1932 - J. Louis Comiskey, Harry Grabiner, Lew Fonseca .336 51-101 1948 - Grace Comiskey, Frank Lane, Ted Lyons .346 56-106 1970 - John Allyn, Ed Short and Don Gutteridge (both worked through 9/1 game. Ed fired 9/1, Don 9/2). .349 53-99 1934 - J. They have no dome for Summerlin AAA games which are all night games. They have mesh seats, draw about 7,000 per game (8,200 is capacity), or under four thousand less than their parent A's team in Oakland. They may draw well to start. Casinos will purchase suites and blocks of seats. I still think the A's will remain in the bottom third of attendance after perhaps an initial honeymoon, with less revenue and attendance than if they took Oakland's offer for the Howard Terminal Site that they delayed and ultimately did not respond within the agreement deadline date. Affluent Sportsmen do not concern themselves with the feelings of fans, only the amount of lucre they can extricate from the world at large. Next stop, Dante's Inferno. First Circle of Hell - Limbo Second Circle of Hell - Lust Third Circle of Hell - Gluttony Fourth Circle of Hell - Greed Fifth Circle of Hell - Wrath Sixth Circle of Hell - Heresy Seventh Circle of Hell - Violence Eight Circle of Hell - Fraud Ninth Circle of Hell - Treachery Center of Hell - Jerry's Owner Box

I was too busy to follow the Sox closely then. Did he start with a 2-3 year deal Hahn extended after 2013? Probably had to to stop Ventura from giving Hahn the keys and walking away, and or having him serve as a lame duck in 2014, not that he wasn't his entire tenure. Ricky has been their second best manager this millennium, beyond Ozzie's 2004-2008. My three favorites were Tanner, Torborg and Ricky, though thought Ozzie did a great job managing the pitching staff / going with starters longer than most in games. Bob Lemon did a good job as well, won a World Series a few months after leaving here mid-season in 1978. Leyland and Espada turned down managerial spots here with no other managerial gig the following season. Can't blame either, nor the other quality baseball people who also rejected working for Mr. Loyalty over the decades.

Couldn't find a single local report in corporate or NFP (Sun-Times, WTTW, WBEZ) media. NY Post was the only article I could find. They didn't add to the CWB Chicago report beyond this picture and CWB's video of two Chicago Hockey Player cars pre 2022 NYE. https://nypost.com/2023/08/17/white-sox-stars-girlfriend-has-car-stolen-on-way-to-cubs-game/ I recommend manual transition cars. Most here won't get too far without automatic transition, though they may strip your gears trying.

MLB won't succeed in Vegas the same was as the Golden Knights and Raiders. I have family there and spend 2-3 + weeks there each year. it cannot make up for lack of TV money with tourist money. Revenue sharing will continue to be their primary source of income. The Golden Knights are their first professional team, had an epic first season. Many Canadian snowbirds attend games as do domestic tourists come in for their one/two games a year. They only have to sell 717,500 tickets a season for 100% capacity. The NFL is widely popular, out of town fans can plan a Vegas weekend to visit their team. They only have to sell 520,000 (8 X 65,000) tickets a year, piece of cake. MLB has 81 home dates a year. Even with a limited capacity of 30,000 or less, you are talking 2,400,000 tickets, or over 3 times what the Golden Knights sell. Also, Summer weather Memorial Day through mid September is 100 F - 110 F every day, so a closed roof nearly every game which sucks for fans. Also, TV revenue will be among the lowest in MLB, between the small base and the fact their existing TV broadcast ATT sucks. Vegas is a three shift town, so you're not going to get the same interest watching 162 games as you do 16 NFL or even 82 for the Stanley Cup champs. The A's owner is even more of a piece of s%*# than Jerry Reinsdorf, has ZERO intent on building a championship team. He's only interested in the grift, maximizing revenue sharing and taxpayer handouts and minimizing payroll.

15,275 paid, hopefully far less in person. -
I don't agree with this. When a man's lifelong wife dies, in many instances they join her within six-twelve months. If not, they typically live as long as they would have before becoming a widower. Wouldn't be surprised if Jerry lives into his 100s, longer than a number of SoxTalk posters born well after 1936.

.577 Charlotte OPS across 50 ABs. Might need some more work if you don't want him overmatched like Sosa and Colas, also promoted before they were ready. -

Officials have zero reason to do the responsible thing, they aren't paying for it personally, get benefits politically if they "save the team". Paying for street improvements and other infrastructure is acceptable, I believe they do the same for other businesses but honestly I'm not certain. In turn, the Sox should pay property taxes like every other business for the first time since 1990. Handouts to Jerry, or companies like Boeing are not acceptable in 2023, shouldn't have been acceptable in the past. All it does is saddle remaining businesses and individual taxpayers, and future generations (servicing the $420 million debt and growing) with the tab.

If Hahn is back, then Pedro must be back. Hahn can't be given a fourth / fifth chance at this. Hahn Robin says no to Hahn's 2016 extension. Hahn hires Ricky Renteria the next day with zero job search. Hahn Ricky given an extension after 2019. Hahn fires Ricky 63 games later after the Sox' best Hahn record. Jerry Hahn firing Ricky led to the Tony La Russa debacle, arguable a far worse manager. FY also to Jerry. Hahn Hahn signed his guy, Pedro Grifol, after Joe Espada interviewed and then after said he had zero interest working for Jerry and Hahn. Hahn gawn.

Don't give him another penny. Not a penny. Cable, parking, tickets, concessions, merchandise. I have little faith the various worthless city, county and state leaders will do the responsible thing and tell him FY if he asks for yet more money. https://www.dailyherald.com/sports/20230821/report-reinsdorf-considering-moving-or-selling-the-white-sox https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/sports/report-white-sox-are-weighing-stadium-options-with-team-saying-discussions-havent-begun/3212014/

When Do the Sox Talk About a New Stadium??
South Side Hit Men replied to jasonxctf's topic in Pale Hose Talk
The City wanted either a dual stadium (Sox and Bears) or stand alone Sox stadium at that location, but did not want to pledge any money toward it. https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-xpm-1986-04-20-8601280690-story.html The city turned to the current location to avoid the infrastructure costs at the OG proposed site, and after Addison and DuPage County to Jerry to GFY. https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-xpm-1986-12-02-8603310161-story.html Jerry dicked around until he got another $60M thrown into the 2016 deal July 1, 1988, avoiding state law by unplugging the clock before the end of June 30 and avoiding a supermajority vote. Too bad there weren't six more John Dunn's in the state capitol. https://www.washingtonpost.com/archive/sports/1988/07/01/illinois-legislators-pass-white-sox-incentive-plan/a5930fa6-ed51-4bbe-9506-01269d6c80d2/ Taxpayers owed $430 million between the stadium, and renovations for the f'ing Bears and Sox, debt that will be paid off until at least 2032, if not forever. https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-sox-cell-funding-isfa-met-20160521-story.html -
