  1. I hope they don't get a top 6 pick next year based on the fact they would be precluded from having one in 2025, and the fact the draft class is not suspected to be as strong as 2025.
  2. Sosa is up. The Sox (or any team) cannot add a 26th man to cover a player sitting out due to an suspension earned during a game.
  3. f*** it, my 2022-2023 game thread record is trash regardless at this point, and I'm listening to the game. Hoping Kopech has command and keep this nearly as bad lineup limited to say 3-4 runs. Sox are about a pick unless you have access to decent Vegas lines (Wynn and a few others). The total is 12, not because of the offenses but because of the location and horrendous bullpens. I better not see Sheets wear a glove this weekend beyond 1B. The Sox have two players above .700 OPS in the lineup, the Rockies with five. On the good news front, it's nice to hear DJ back after a week off due to his hip replacement surgery.
  4. Nice calls, though a bit optimistic. I stayed off here from the end of January after they punted on improving or addressing their significant holes in the offseason until later in April when they were approaching records in terms of losing streaks / series losing streaks. I agreed with Hawk's assessment before OD that a lot would have to go right for them to win a wild card, thought Minnesota or Cleveland would win the division with 85ish games. That said, I didn't think they would finish with 95-100 losses. They would still reach/exceed 90 losses even if they didn't ship have the pitching staff away. I stand by my mid April production that 79 wins will take the division (the second place team will have under 79 wins).
  5. I triple dog dare the Dodgers to start him in the playoffs.
  6. This, and they better be called the fucking Arlington Heights Bears. Better yet, put their asses in London or Berlin and bring back the Cardinals.
  7. When you’ve lost Hawk, you’ve lost most Sox fans as well. Wonder if he is still a team ambassador.
  8. 2 HRs since Memorial Day, can’t play RF, can’t bat against LHP, must burn a bench player if a LH reliever is in or late in a close game. Sheets should only be on the active roster if Eloy or Andrew are on the IL, and only because they have no viable alternatives. His platoon bat is too weak to be on any contending roster.
  9. I’d IL Eloy unless he can for certain play this weekend, or send Sheets down. Would want Thompson available with the large outfield plus Roberts’ recent time off. I agree Elvis likely stays through year end, Hahn trying to avoid 100 Ls.
  10. Sosa will be called up today. No word on who will be sent down (Remillard / Thompson) or released (Elvis).
  11. Zack Collins is back in the majors with the Guardians. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/08/guardians-designate-daniel-norris-for-assignment-select-zack-collins.html
  12. Well, Pedro's thread just got bumped, but this has a higher priority on the to do list.
  13. Jerry's dime, Hahn's dance floor, as Chet Chit Chat would say. Hahn makes the decisions, Pedro is the one who faces the questions publicly. He may agree with the call, but doesn't have much of an option, IMO.
  14. We used to park near that school and walk to Comiskey Park, pre City/Jerry money grab days. Convenient for stops into McCuddy's with my grandfather pre/post game. Hope the kids enjoy the change and learn about Minnie's history in beisbol and his Medias Blancas.
  15. It was even more sketch back in the day. Jim Murphy bought Ray's Bleachers and other properties in the area during the 1980s and made serious bank as the neighborhood gentrified. I lived in Lakeview West / Saint Ben's (Damen & Waveland) for several years in my 20s/30s, the second of three homes (Belmont & Central and Old Norwood Park).
  16. It's the best methodology I could establish to quantify Hawk's "sabre-rattling" metrics.
  17. I will offer up year end and career TWTW (The Will To Win) scores for the entire team at the conclusion of the season. Game avoidance these remaining six weeks should be a goal of players looking to improve their TWTW scores. However, both Tim and Yoan are still outperforming the team both during their career and this season. Current overall record 48-73 .397 Tim Anderson (In 41-51 .446 vs. Out 7-22 .241) Yoan Moncada (In 26-31 .456 vs. Out 22-42 .344) Jake Burger (-15) wasn't the TWTW panacea (Final 2023 score In 35-53 .398 vs. Out 8-11 421). TWTW > fWAR, at least for Hawk
  18. Since 2005-2006, the last fun White Sox period for me was 2019-2020, and the Children of the Corn game with Tim & Acting Manager Miguel Cairo. This mostly depressing season will be worth it if there is finally a new FO, and/or if God makes a change in ownership. If not, then I am joining the penguin.
  19. Benintendi $75M. Jaime Navarro $15M. Not in the same universe Kenny Williams acquired Adam Dunn two seasons before Rick Hahn took over.
  20. It will be worse if they try to compete in 2024. Will be same results as 2013-2016. Robert and Cease are the two legitimate pieces, have a couple other good players and that is it. Need a new FO, assess what they have during 2024, make adjustments, acquire prospects, attempt to legitimately compete for the first time since 2005 in 2026. If they keep Hahn and or Clevinger, I'll take another sabbatical away from White Sox baseball.
  21. I've always lived within city limits, never been outside of the city for more than 2 1/2 weeks. Always planned to die here (of natural causes). Still staying but took time to look into alternatives. Old enough to know never say never in life. My Aunt is my only living family member still here. Used to walk / take public transportation nearly everywhere within city limits with few exceptions. I've avoided a much broader section of the city since May 31, 2020. Hoping at some point things improve. Perhaps I'm as naïve as hoping the same for the Chicago White Sox.
  22. I'm sure some of the players were preoccupied after a Sox' players girlfriend's car was stolen near Wrigley a few hours before the game today.
  23. Youths making silly decisions in Wrigleyville. This happened this afternoon around 3 PM. https://cwbchicago.com/2023/08/thief-steals-chicago-white-sox-girlfriends-bmw-near-wrigley-field.html
