The two leagues were separate entities for over 80 years. Should return to that format, separate umpires, separate schedules, separate league offices. Round robin competition and no playoffs is the best option, but it would never pass, plus exceeds the historical balance of competition within 8 - 10 team leagues. Only regular season champions, be it single leagues or division, should compete for a "World Championship". If you can't win a 4-7 team division, GTFO. They should also put an asterisk or scarlet letter beside any official World Series list next to the 1997 Florida Marlins, 2002 Anaheim Angels, 2003 Florida Marlins, 2004 Boston Red Sox, Tony La Russa's 2011 Saint Louis Cardinals, 2014 San Francisco Giants and 2019 Washington Nations. They should also pledge to never allow this scam again. It's NBA/NHL/CBB level bullshit. * - These teams were not able to win beat out 3-4 other division teams over the 162 game "championship season", but had a hot couple weeks.

I sincerely hope there are two division winners and even a wild card team under .500 which make it this year. My solution, two seven team divisions in each league (two teams contracted), and balanced intraleague schedule (12 X 13 teams = 156 games) pit four division champions. If in place this year, the four playoff teams are Baltimore (AL East .615) vs. Texas (AL West .598) and Atlanta (NL East .647) and Los Angeles (NL West .603). I threw out an eight division example because the owners can't help themselves and would never go from 12 to 4 teams. There would be more interest and ratings in the All Star Game and Playoffs / World Series if the best teams during the 156 or 162 game season were competing to be champions.

1. Jose Ramirez instigated the fight by shoving Tim's leg and then getting up and aggressively wagged his finger within inches of Tim's face. Do that in a bar or on the streets without MLB security to protect you and you're liable to an asswhupping at minimum, possibly several bullets in your body now since we are in 2023. 2. Jose Ramirez made contact with the ump, instigated the fight, and should have gotten an equal suspension term. 3, Tray didn't say anyone who didn't support TA is racist. He said there is an element of racism to some of the comments.

8/13 White Sox vs Brewers, 1:10 PM CT
South Side Hit Men replied to Capn12's topic in 2023 Season in Review
I typically give a manager a full season to adjust, and thought a new manager may need even more time considering the shitshow that is the White Sox. However, the comments he makes indicates an "Hahn like" level of incompetence. Can see why Teflon Rick liked Pedro, yet another useful potential scapegoat. -
An apt comparison. 1. Parents, teachers and children called Milton Bradley’s three year old the n-word while with the Cubs. https://www.espn.com/chicago/mlb/news/story?id=4496640 2. Of course the Tribune columnist and now 670 The Whore Show and Cubs fan Host David Haugh belittled Milton Bradley. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/milton-bradley-and-the-race-card/ 3. Cubs manager Lou Pinella called Bradley a piece of s%*# for being upset, which of course big mouth Ozzie Guillen had to jump in and co-sign. https://www.nbcsports.com/mlb/news/potent-quotables-sweet-lou-turns-sour 4. A group of Cubs fans chanted Aunt Jemima and other racial slurs outside of Wrigley Field at Sun Times columnist Mary Mitchell and her 12 year old son. https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-xpm-2001-07-12-0107120175-story.html 5. Racist Cub Bros and Cub employees defend thugs spewing racial epithets on Hispanic Heritage Night. Pepperidge Farm remembers.

Playoff "appearances" are meaningless beyond extra revenue for owners. 16 teams made the playoffs, what some fans here want to make permanent, rendering an 162 game season less relevant than a five or seven game series. The 8-12 team playoffs were watered down enough. Baseball played seven decades with 8 or 10 (1960s) team leagues, World Series lone playoffs. This guaranteed only the top few teams would be crowned world champions. Now you can finish fourth in a five team division and win the World Series. It's absolutely ludicrious and a complete and utter sham. I will join 97% of America and not pay attention to it. This wasn't the case prior to 1994 when teams had to earn a post season appearance, not merely play around .500 baseball.

The NBA and NFL are primarily national television contract driven leagues. Their payrolls and revenue have a much narrower window than MLB or even the NHL. Can't have a salary cap unless the owners share everything, and they keep building revenue sources not subject to sharing (real estate). The Yankees haven't won or appeared in a World Series since 2009, the Mets 2015 (1986 last win); Anaheim once ever (2002). It comes down to owners willing to actually compete, and having a competent front office to do so. I don't believe geography doesn't give the teams the significant advantage you are stating. The non coastal cities were well represented the past decade plus (2010-2022), covering half (13 of 26) of World Series teams: World Series Winners (5): Saint Louis (2011); Kansas City (2015); Chicago (2016); Houston (2017 & 2022) World Series Losers (8): Texas (2010 & 2011); Detroit (2012); Saint Louis (2013); Kansas City (2014); Cleveland (2016); Houston (2019 & 2021) Chicago >>> Houston Plus Dallas already has a team, they aren't getting two. The Sox are staying in Chicago, Baltimore (to Nashville) and Oakland (to Las Vegas) are the likely two possible moves over the next few decades.

Hahn likely acquired more fWAR in 2023 than in 2020 once all the prospects play out. Not quite 30K tonight (29,851), even with the free jerseys honoring Pinky Tuscadero and perfect weather. They did break 30K paid yesterday by 59, so congratulations Jerry on selling carrots to Milwaukee natives. If the White Sox were a better organization, the Brewers would have opted to stay in the American League to face the White Sox and Twins regularly. The remaining schedule will not draw beyond a few more promotional dates. They are also stuck with two weekday games and going up against two Bears games. * = Day Game M T W* Seattle (8/21-8/23) Th F S S* Oakland (8/24-8/27) - 8/26 Dylan Cease Bobblehead (Adults only - sponsored by Binny's) F S S* Detroit (9/1-9/3) - 9/1 Last Summer Fireworks & 9/2 Los White Sox Soccer Jersey M T W Kansas City (9/11-9/13) - 9/13 Dog Day & Free Tee Shirts Th F S S* Minnesota (9/14-9/17) - 9/16 - Halfway to Saint Patricks & Southside Irish Jerseys Bears at Tampa Bay Noon M T W* Arizona (9/25-9/27) F S S* San Diego (9/29 - 10/1) - 9/30 La Catrina Dia de los Muertos Bobblehead Denver at Bears Noon

Why even play a 162 game season. It's garbage, just seeding teams with a pulse through the several teams actually trying to win. Just go with what the owners want: Jerry Reinsdorf Max Profits Format: 28 Game World Baseball Classic February 20 - March 25 (Replaces Spring Training) 162 Game Interleague Rival Premium Game Ticket "Season" March 30 - Labor Day (White Sox at Cubs for 82 Games, Cubs at White Sox for 82 Games). All Star Game Week (Seniors Game, HOF Ceremony, Home Run Derby, Skills Competition, Futures Game, All Star Game) July 5 - 11 32 Team Play In Series (Best of seven) September 10 - 18 16 Team Wild Card Series (Best of seven) September 20 - 30 8 Team League Division Series (Best of nine games) October 1 - 15 4 Team League Championship Series (Best of nine games) October 20 - November 5 World Series (Best of nine games) November 10 - Black Friday

This is my eight team division proposal, and revised four team divisions quoted above. American League East (E & C): Baltimore; Boston; Chicago; Cleveland; Detroit; Montreal; New York; Toronto West (C, M & P): Anaheim; Colorado; Houston; Kansas City; Minnesota; Oakland; Seattle; Texas National League East (E): Atlanta; Miami; Nashville; New York; Philadelphia; Pittsburgh; Tampa Bay; Washington West (C AZ & P): Arizona; Chicago; Cincinnati; Los Angeles; Milwaukee; Saint Louis; San Diego; San Francisco

I prefer four total divisions, but owners would likely prefer eight. Zero need for wildcards beyond greed with 8 playoff teams. Intra-division: 14 x 3 (42) Intra-league 6 X 12 (72) Interleague 3 X 16 (48) Playoffs LDS (#1 vs. #4 #2 vs. #3 Division Winners, Best of Seven) Italics = Expansion; Bold Italics Underline = League Change Time Zones (E, C, M, Az, P) American League East (E): Boston; Cleveland; New York; Toronto South (E & C): Houston; Miami; Tampa Bay; Texas Midwest (E & C): Chicago; Detroit; Kansas City; Minnesota West (M & P): Anaheim; Colorado; Oakland; Seattle National League East (E): Montreal; New York; Philadelphia; Pittsburgh South (E & C): Atlanta; Baltimore; Nashville; Washington Midwest (E & C): Chicago; Cincinnati; Milwaukee; Saint Louis West (AZ & P): Arizona; Los Angeles; San Diego; San Francisco

You're not going to hit on every bounce back player, guys coming off of cancer, but you cash enough tickets if you buy enough value bets. Sure beats handing out $300M + contracts like they are candy and finishing under .500 most seasons.
-
I realize the age on him, but those 32-34 age years are likely to be what he was the past few years. Players typically spike their final season before free agency. It happens regularly, and I expect Tim and Yoan to turn it on next season.
-
Moncada dabbing tonight. Keep the line moving boys.
-
I have to admit, the Jesus radio commercials help calm me down while the Sox are losing, aka the norm.
-
Doesn't need to. He has a President and GM who can find the next one. Garbage organizations like the Padres overpay for past performance. White Sox overpay for mediocre past performance on players looking to retire.
-
This game further proves zero Central teams from either league deserves a playoff spot, in addition to garbage wild cards. This four team Best of Seven League Championship Series far better than what they will slap out there in October.
-
Everybody but the one that mattered. I realize these relievers are mostly scrubs. but you need to pitch them and hope for the best, vs. burn guys who haven't gone this deep into games and watch them piss away a great outing.
-
Would still take Yoan and his contract over Benintendi, Such a disservice by Grifol there, should have been pulled after the first runner reached.
-
Pitchers typically take longer to develop. Need to trust the bullpen, Scholtens is out of gas.
-
The White Sox gained the highest farm system acquisitions this deadline per Fangraphs. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/how-the-draft-and-the-trade-deadline-affected-our-farm-system-rankings/ Pre-draft: White Sox 23rd Post-draft: White Sox 23rd MLB Trade Deadline Player Acquisition Value: $63M Current Rank 13th

Hopefully Scholtens can get through 6. Banks with the 7th, Honeywell 8th and Shaw with the 9th. Bullpen Pitch Count Last 3 Games: 15 Shaw (Friday) 0 Banks, Cronin, Honeywell, Ramsey Likely Out 47 Bummer 43 Santos 39 Lambert

Much better than Lance Lynn, at 1/24th the cost. Wonder if one day Kopech will reach this threshold of performance as a starter. Sheets on again, playing to stay on the roster in 2024.
