  1. Yankees have two guys under .696 OPS, Sox have three above that mark, and they didn't trade away a single position player.
  2. To be fair, I can't see the Sox scoring more than 2 today. Might not get 2 hits. Blaming it on T R U. Hope @wegner's sandwich is on point, and Yankees fans are not sinking to Red Sox fan level.
  3. Kenny flew in yesterday to meet Bill Cowher, Wonder if this will be his last appearance at Comiskey Park as EVP.
  4. I guess, but it seems the office regularly drops a game or two off of suspensions in the 4 + game range.
  5. I'd prefer Trayce Thompson play if Colas is off, have Sheets in Charlotte unless Vaughn or Eloy are on the IL. For Tim, I don't think they can make Tim cancel his appeal, he'll likely knock off a game or two from the suspension / pay cut. Haven't heard if the hearing has been scheduled.
  6. I recall seeing articles or tweets with the change in pitch mix for Diekman. For Lynn, I believe much of it is personal motivation. He even admitted the bunt on him in Anaheim really got him motivated, and he pitched very well after. This is an article I was able to access via the Atlantic that may be free for everyrone. https://theathletic.com/4752610/2023/08/06/dodgers-lance-lynn-rotation-trade/ For Diekman, it appears Tampa has him focus on his fastball and changeup. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/jake-diekman-518617?stats=statcast-r-pitching-mlb&season=2023
  7. Yes, Redhot Ranch is my favorite option, the pre/post game drinks at Marz or Skylark. Did tailgate my one game this season, nice relaxing pre/post game with beers (Hop Butcher and other craft beers) and Italian subs from Caputo's, which is finally opening their Norridge store tomorrow that I'm excited about. Of course the Cardinals shut them out 3-0, and they lost the Spring Training game I went to in 2020, so I haven't seen a win in person since the 2010s (they won several games in 2019 for me!).
  8. Ozzie is a bigger cancer on White Sox Baseball than anyone in the current clubhouse. Need new blood in the FO and get rid of this clown hovering over the team like a dark cloud undermining every manager while trying to weasel his way back into the manager spot. Jerry and Kenny made/make a lot of mistakes, but banning Ozzie from returning as manager has been one of their good calls over the past decade.
  9. He got a raw deal here, between the 2020 owner lockouts, then getting thrown into the outfield because Rick Hahn can’t do his job the past two years. This year he had to fill in the shoes for an MVP and fan favorite. Cut him some slack. He is their youngest starter, the only one here beyond Robert to be an everyday player and he gives good effort. He’s having a good second half, handled Tim on Saturday when it seemed nobody else could/would, and had an awesome game yesterday.
  10. Likely Madrigal’s peak performance. Yoan gave solid to great years in the past. I would wager Yoan has better numbers than Nick next season, perhaps far better. Depends on his approach and health. Still doesn’t mean trading him and Heuer for setup Kimbrel made sense.
  11. Redhot Ranch, Maxwell Street Depot, Ricobene’s , tailgate, or $5 Tuesdays + Cuban Sandwich?
  12. It's possible they gave thought to one or more of these hires. They begged Robin to stay and he said "bite my ankle" and they hired Ricky the next day. Doubt there was much thought beyond Ventura in 2011 beyond Kenny's declaration that he was interested in Paul Konerko as player / manager, which was not reciprocated by Pauly. Ozzie (Cito Gaston) and Grifol (Joe Espada, who turned the Sox down) were the only two job searches with known multiple legitimate external candidates. I'm not counting the "Selig Rule" discussion with Willie Harris preceding Tony's hire.
  13. The White Sox magic number is 63 to win the American League Central. Godspeed! https://playoffmagic.com/mlb/league/
  14. Can’t have enough ex Guardians / Guardians ending their career here. One day the Sox will learn the secrets of their “success”.
  15. Not sure if any team in MLB history have three or more managers quit in them, let alone within 11 seasons. Managers who have not quit the White Sox in the New Millennium: Jerry Manuel (December 5, 1997 - September 29, 2003) Don Cooper (September 27, 2011 - October 6, 2011) Ricky Renteria (October 3, 2016 - October 12, 2020) Miguel Cairo (August 30, 2022 - November 2, 2022) Managers who have quit the White Sox in the New Millennium: Ozzie Guillen (November 3, 2003 - September 26, 2011) Robin Ventura (October 7, 2011 - October 2, 2016) Tony La Russa (October 26, 2020 - August 30, 2022, officially resigned October 4, 2022) Days White Sox searched for a new manager: 35 - Ozzie Guillen 0 - Don Cooper 7 - Robin Ventura 0 - Ricky Renteria 14 - Tony La Russa 0 - Miguel Cairo 29 - Pedro Grifol
  16. The FO is really doing him and the team a disservice at this point by not shutting him down and focusing on 2024. Would help on a lot of fronts.
  17. Oh he is definitely full of s%*#. Can add Chuck Garfien to that list. Shane Riodan is on a whole higher plane of bullshit.
  18. Keep the wins coming White Sox! This has been their best and funest stretch of the season. Hope they can get Tim to drop the suspension and let him rest his wrist, though he may object because they league will likely drop off a game or two from the suspension. Really loving seeing the bullpen coming together. They are all pitching to keep MLB jobs this and next season, highly motivated.
  19. Think it makes more sense to shut him down, get him back surgery or just rest through Spring Training. If he ever will be motivated, it will be next year with his contract expiring, so there is a possibility he is healthy and uses the chance to perform like he has in the past, and be flipped at the deadline (assuming the Sox aren't contending). Teams would take on 1/3 of his salary ($8M), or the Sox eat some or all (plus the $5M 2025 option) and get better prospects back. Do the same with Tim if you can't move either this off-season (There is a better chance at moving Tim). Would aggressively try to move Eloy.
  20. DJ and Len were discussing that Bryan is not the type of guy who will turn down the ball, so the pitching coach (didn't say Katz) needs to track his usage and schedule rest for him. Bryan has pitched 4 2/3 since Friday (8/4 1 IP; 8/5 1 2/3 IP; 8/7 2 IP). Would like to see him get the next two games off.
  21. Congratulations Luis Robert on becoming the tenth White Sox to earn 30 doubles and home runs in a single season. White Sox Players with 30 HRs and 30 Doubles in a Season Frank Thomas 1991, 1993, 1994, 1997, 2000, 2003 Robin Ventura 1996 Albert Belle 1997, 1998 Magglio Ordonez 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002 Paul Konerko 2001, 2006, 2007, 2010 Carlos Lee 2003, 2004 Joe Crede 2006 Jermaine Dye 2008 Jose Abreu 2014, 2015, 2017, 2019, 2021 Luis Robert Junior 2023
  22. It's been a fun three days on the diamond. More schadenfreude off it.
