Baltimore ownership is notoriously cheap and I read that Burnes’ projected salary number next season is $15 mil via arbitration where as Cease’s would be around 8.8 mil. Also acquiring Burnes isn’t gonna be significantly cheaper this is from Jim Bowden, who I know isn’t reliable but his take was this: The Athletic’s Jim Bowden, a former executive, led his five-team trade fits for Burnes with the Orioles. He wrote that a package consisting of left-hander DL Hall, right-hander Chayce McDermott, corner infielder Coby Mayo and outfielder Dylan Beavers “would probably be close to what it would take to land Burnes.” I’d assume Mike Elias would prefer the extra year of control with Cease, the O’s match up perfectly with the Sox just have to be willing to nut up and quit prospect hugging.

If they swing and miss on a power bat, I wonder if the Giants matchup with the Sox on a deal for Eloy. I doubt the Giants would give up on Kyle Harrison but maybe a couple pitching prospect of their’s. If I’m trading Eloy and Cease I’d much prefer they get position players in a Cease deal than in an Eloy deal.

There’s gotta be one billionaire out there who is incredibly driven, who sees the situation the Sox are in and what the Cubs are and says “I wanna buy the Sox and make them bigger than the Cubs” Not trying to be jealous but it’s pretty damn hard not to be. Chris Getz should fire Pedro Grifol but Chris Getz won’t fire Pedro Grifol because he’s Chris Getz and Chris Getz shouldn’t be the head of any Major League Baseball Organization but Jerry Reinsdorf owns this organization and Jerry Reinsdorf shouldn’t be allowed to own a Major League Organization in 2023. Basically what I’m trying to say is I can’t waste my time rooting for this team as long as Jerry is here. After Jerry’s media session, I lost ALL hope.

I just really hope the media doesn’t go easy on Getz during the intro press conference. Vizquel, Helms, Daryl Boston, his personal qualifications, it being an insular hire, Pedro Grifol’s job status, the run differential throughout the entire organization, why the lack of positional and pitching depth. Since Jerry is gonna hide behind Getz the media really needs to nut up and get some answers. This loyal fanbase deserves honesty.

Considering how much money he’s made he’s definitely not stupid, he’s just completely tone def and doesn’t either realize or care how much bad taste is in our mouths now and will remain with these 2 as the hires.

I think it’s very safe to say that Jerry Reinsdorf does not know baseball. He may think he does but has no freaking clue how to build a successful organization. It sounds cliche af but the ONLY hope for this organization is when Jerry sells, he’s truly incapable of doing this correctly.

In regards to defense I think all of us would be ok with Adam Engel in CF if that means Juan Soto is the starting RF.

I’d like to think its more of me wanting the better player who is 2 years younger and gives the Sox the best opportunity to win over the next 2 seasons. And I’d assume if it costs Robert the Sox are going to put all their chips in to lock him up long term. Doubt it happens still just saying I much prefer Soto

I think they are serious about moving him but want to make sure they get the return they want for arguably the best hitter in baseball who is only 23 with still 2 more years of team control. Feel like if Robert is the main ask I’d do it, I trust Juan Soto’s development much much more than Robert’s

Feel like acquiring Quintana alone would just be super underwhelming, if they could somehow manage to put a package together for Q and a piece that fits this core for the next few years (Bryan Reynolds) then Hahn needs to make it happen. If LaRussa isn’t going anywhere anytime soon then Hahn has to shake things up. Bryan Reynolds solves RF perfectly the next 3 years and has a real approach to the game that this group just does not posses right now. Unfortunately this is the same organization that thought bringing in Nomar Mazara and Adam Eaton would fix the problem. It’s a pipe dream but anything less than a an eye opening move just feels like you’re just kicking the can down the road

Feel like in the end it comes down to accountability. The owner gifted the manger with the most talented young team in baseball after his second DUI, accountability doesn’t exist in this organization so why would the players feel it. This team needs a major surgery, one that potentially requires bigger names to be moved, not just a new manager.
