Madrigal goes on 60 day DL, Hamstring tear: Goodwin recalled
AJ'S Cousin replied to 2Deep's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Everyone needs to relax a bit. We do not need to sell off the farm system or disrupt the clubhouse. This team believes it can win with the “next man up” theory. We forget the job that Mendick did last year when Madrigal was hurt. He got some big hits, played good, not great defense. This is now a 100 game season. Yes, we lost 1/3 of our starting lineup. Yes, we have 2 injury prone players. Jimenez should not be given a glove when he returns. Vaughn and Lamb can handle left field. We can win enough 4 to 3 , 5 to 4 games with this pitching staff. As long as they stay heathy and I’m praying they do, we can win the division or at worst a wild card spot. Mendick/Garcia can do a decent job. Would I rather have Madrigal or a veteran 2nd baseman at a reasonable cost, of course. But we need to make do for now with what we have. If I were to tell you the we’d lose 2/3’s of our outfield and be 4 game up in 1st place you’d say no way. -
Vaughn is the future!!! Mercedes needs a few days off to recharge. He could come back. He had a great eye 2 weeks ago but now he’s swinging at everything. Vaughn has proven that his defense is above average. Right now he’s already defensively better than Eloy. Eloy will be a great DH IF HE CAN MENTALLY ADJUST. Everyone wants to play the field. Vaughn’s catch today shows what a great athlete he is. Is he the 1st baseman of the future or right or left fielder of the future. It’s obvious he can play either spot. Once he learns the pitchers he’s the next Abreu. If they continue to use Yermin, if he wakes up when Eloy comes back, I’m very comfortable with Vaughn in Right Field. He has a very adequate arm. Great instincts. Eloy is great and believe he has a great future. The farm system has Burger, Sheets and others. Deep, Deep, Deep. What a problem to have when Jimenez and Robert come back. Burger and Sheets could be the next Vaughn, and the pitching waiting in the wings!! They could start a second rebuild if necessary and not miss a beat. Question is in August/September who goes?? Lamb? Eaton? Hamilton? Let’s not forget Engel will be in he mix. I don’t envy making these decisions. Same with pitching. Frye will be here soon, Burr looks great, Kopech will return. This is a very DEEP ORGANIZATION. We’ll be fine and we will steam roll over the division when we are at Full Strength we should have one today Cease didn’t lose the defense lost

Looking for possible partners to possibly purchase a 41 game season ticket package. 4 seats. Very good seats still available, club seats and and good seats still between the bases. We would figure out who gets what games. Of course if its 4 of us would each get to go to all Cub Games and Playoff Games with 1 ticket each. We can do 10 games each with 4 tickets to a game 2 tickets for more games etc. about $2300 to $2700 for 1 ticket. If interested to discuss send a note to my email at [email protected]. After contact we'll exchange cell numbers if we have similar interests. I can only afford 1 ticket, so ideally we need 4 people and besides, i don't think i can make more than 10 or 11 games plus playoffs. I personally prefer the club seats between the bases for great bathroom access, nice sitting areas to cool off of during rain delays and service to your seats and NO NET OBSURING your view. and they are $400 a seat cheaper and a great view. If you've ever sat up there you'd be sold also but if it is the lower deck, so be it. Let me know ASAP thanks you

it looks like I'm right about Vaughn. He should be in the lineup everyday. the last 2 games should tell everyone that. he's already better defensively than Jimenez LOL. He has proven that he is an athlete that will only get better with time. The Sox will have a huge decision to make if Vaughn keeps getting better both Offensively and Defensively. What to do if the Yerminator keeps hitting and Vaughn really gets going offensively?? What do you do with Jimenez when he returns?? Sit Vaughn and return Jimenez to Left Field, Keep the Yerminator at DH if he's still hitting 300? Vaughn has earned his spot. I'm a big Yerminator fan but it seems his power is declining slightly. He's still a tough out and gets the bat on the ball and still makes teams worry. Jimenez is another injury waiting to happen. I love the guy and think that he is a 40 HR 120 RBI guy if he stays healthy. Is Yermin your DH of the Future or is Jimenez? My vote is Jimenez. This is a great position for the Sox to be so wealthy and deep. It will be interesting what TLR does after Eloy's rehab in the minors. He has to play, but so does Vaughn. I'll be interested to see who's still looking at this thread and responding.

Jimenez is not coming back until maybe the playoff's if at all. The Sox are not going to call up anyone else until maybe after the all star break if not until September. Vaughn has proven he is a semi decent left fielder and deserves to play everyday. He has demonstrated he can handle the position so far. Engle is coming back soon which means either Lamb or Hamilton will have to go. He has also shown that he is the 1st Basemen of the future. Adam Eaton is not consistent enough and Vaughn even played right field and not embarrassed anybody yet. I think (tongue in cheek) that Vaughn is better defensively than Jimenez. Jimenez is the DH of the future. Yermin is fun to watch and is a big part of the success they've had. I hope not, but the leagues pitching may catch up to Yermin and he'll be normalized. Don't get me wrong, he's fun to watch, very instinctive hitter for now and deserves a roster spot and continue to be the DH until further notice. I'm afraid as in the past with Yermin type one dimensional players, they eventually flame out. Abreu has 1 maybe 2 years left and then gets a nice job with the Sox after his playing days, and he is playing GOLD GLOVE quality defense this year. He will heat up at the plate and the the weather heats up. Vaughn, Burger, Nicky 2 Strikes, Robert, Kopech, Crotchet Huer, Gio and Jimenez are the immediate future as is Rodon, he's back!!! Engle is better than Eaton and could spell Vaughn defensively if TLR gets nervous as could Eaton. Today's Pinch Hit Home Run should show you the worth of playing Vaughn EVERYDAY. He will only get better and they can afford to carry him as he learns the pitchers HE NEEDS TO PLAY!!!
-
Jake Lamb is a defensive liability at 1st base. Grandl would have made both plays. Why carry 3 catchers? If Yermin is on the bench he can catch in an emergency. This defense has to improve.

I think Carlos is ready to be number 3 in the rotation. Dallas should be 4 or 5. He worries me write now. Kopech looking better and better and needs to be stretched out and moved into the rotation. Hopefully Lynne only misses a couple of starts. If healthy he should be number 2. Cease still has some control problems but they can be corrected. I’m not sure what the procedure is to get Kopech into shape this 1st of the season to ready to throw 100 pitches. We may have to wait until after the AllStar break. Cancelling the Cleveland game and a day off today might be a blessing in disguise as they say instead of throwing a bullpen game. We may have lucked and the bullpen will be fresh for the weekend.

TA is back and will make a difference, So will Bummer if he gets his head out of his ass along with Grandl. Leave Yermin at DH everyday, rotate Collins and Grandl behind the plate until Grandl starts hitting, move Redon to #4 and all will be good. You may see a slow shift in the rotation if Rodon Keeps it up. Lucas, Lynn, Rodon, Keuchel, Cease, when he returns. THATS IF REDON IS THE OLD REDON!!!
-
On the lighter side, I'm interested in buying tickets if anyone has any to sell in the lower deck for June, July and August. I can go on short notice, as i said, I'm retired!!! LOL
-
RAg\\ You are not panicking, I am not panicking, Sox has been slow starters many times and do warm up and yes the bats will come around but I'm slightly concerned but not panicking about Bummer and Grandl. Remember Grandl hit below 200 last year and he looks like shit so far this year. Thank God we have Yermin an Collins if this continues, and the bullpen is deep enough to overcome Bummer until he straightens out. Nice talking to you

I'm retired, i got nothing else to do but watch baseball and CNBC!!!

Yes, we are 6 and 7. Abreu is swinging at everything below the knees and looking like shit ( except defensively). Yes it seems Eloy missing is hurting us. The defense has cost us a minimum of 2 maybe 3 games. I sound like a broken record, its a marathon not a sprint. Another cliché, you don't win a division in April but you can lose one. We are 6 and 7, not 1 and 12. 2 and 11 etc. The Good: Starting Pitching looks great Eaton looks like a great move for now, will he fade?? Don't think so, he's a pro Yermin is Rookie of the Year currently, remember, with thought Robert had it wrapped up last year. Yermin should be in the lineup everyday, whether catching or DH. Bullpen looks good MOST of the time. Vaughn hasn't blown a play in left yet and made a real nice play today, looked in other games and his swing is improving and should play everyday in left for now. Rodon rebirth is unreal if it continues, i think it will. Kopech is stretching out nicely. Collins coming along nicely both calling a game and defensively The 3 headed catcher program is working out Warm weather coming Abreu will start hitting The Bad: Defense Defense Defense Abreu's slump Moncada Slump Robert still swinging at anything in county, as is Abreu it seems. Bummer, not the Bummer of 2019 yet These are just a few observations I've made. Not the whole story but i still believe things will turn around and we win the Division and go on to face either LAD or the Padres.

I’ll admit I was a doubting Thomas. I was wishy washy on the reacquiring Rodon. I was thinking the Sox are taking the cheap way out again to fill a spot while we waited to see if Kopech, Cease, or Crotchet developed. And that very well may have been the plan. Who knows I think this WAS GREAT FOR A GREAT GUY WHO LITERALLY LOOKS REBORN. TJ SURGERY is guess is true that it can make your stronger. Throwing 97, 98 in the 9th? Amazing!! If this is the Rodon we drafted, this team could eventually become unstoppable if Dallas can get it together. Image a stretched out Kopech and or Crotchet and Cease progression continues. There won’t be enough starts to go around. Imagine the leverage at the trade deadline if we needed anyone. Hey, right now we are set, especially if Vaughn develops, he looked pretty good today in left. Players do get hurt as they, look at Jimenez, Anderson, Engle etc. shit happens we’re ready and loaded. Anderson may be back this weekend Yermin still on fire, and Vaughn and Collins developing. Foster and Marshal also looked great. Big things coming this year!!!

Sox vs Indians - Tuesday, April 13th, 710pm
AJ'S Cousin replied to smalls2598's topic in 2021 Season in Review
Everybody, please calm down!! This is not a sprint, it is a marathon as they say. Some players just have to work out the kinks. Moncada, even Abreu need time and the weather needs to warm up. As they said tonight, if it was June in the 10 inning, Lambs fly ball to the wall would have gone out and we'd still be playing. It's obvious we are missing Jimenez and Anderson. Even Engle would be better than the 2 stiffs we have on the bench. On the other hand Yermin would not have made the team. When Anderson and Engle return things will get better. Kopech looks fantastic. Hendriks finally looked like what we're paying for. Foster and Marshall looked like the 2020 pitchers. Minnesota is blowing games also. We are 1.5 games out, not 15 games out. TLR is making logical moves, although i did not like the Crotchet move tonight. Bummer needs to step up and be the 2019 Bummer. If Rodon and Cease can continue keeping us in games. we'll be fine. Vaughn HAS TO THROWN OUT IN LEFT AND LET HIM LEARN TO HIT BIG LEAGUE PITCHING. Is anyone here old enough to remember Robin Ventura's 1st month. He sucked also!! Ryan Sandberg sucked his 1st month. Vaughn and Mercedes have to play everyday. We can carry Vaughn's batting average especially after Anderson returns. I was not a fan of bringing back Eaton. Where we we be without him right now!! If we are 10 games out at the Allstar Break, then we worry. RELAX AND ENJOY FOR NOW THAT WE CAN PLAY 162 GAMES!!! -
First of all we have no conundrum. Eloy is out for the year. We have to see if Tony rides Yermin until he cools off. Right now Yermin is your DH until further notice. As long as he’s hitting around 300 he’s my DH. I agree with “ Chicago White Sox”, put Vaughn in left and get him to the plate as many times as possible. He has to prove he can hit ALL PITCHING. I’m willing to let him learn, will Tony? That’s another aspect. The three headed monster we have at catcher is great. A lot of teams would envy that flexibility. I was very impressed by Collins defense. If with Eloy out, we don’t have enough spots for everyone time to play to develop. I understand the dog days will be coming soon. Games and doubleheader’s will pile up and our bench will be needed and it will help. If Collins get a lot of time and develops, he’ll get the McCann treatment and we’ll lose him also. I would love just for the hell of it to see Yermin behind the plate. That could answer are od questions on what to with Collins down the road. Is Yermin the next Cruz? Maybe. We have to make room for our other Cuban Arsenal we have LOL. the success we’ve had with Cuba is unreal. I also agree and he deserves it that Abreu deserves the Konerko treatment. He bleeds White Sox blood. We are in an interesting situation with too many good players and not enough spot. Remember, we 3 on the DL, 2 that will be back plus a couple of pitchers that will be back. The next few months will be interesting
-
Disagree with you (Parkman). Dallas will not be Shields. He’ll be fine. BUT if you are correct we have Kopech and Crochet waiting in the wing BUT not stretched out enough to be effective starters this years. If you are correct about Dallas we are possibly just a wild card team.
-
95 wins they win the central Giolito wins 19, not 20 lol ? and finishes 2nd or 3rd in the Cy young, tough competition in the AL for the CY young Lynne comes through big time Liam and Bummer the best 1-2 punch out of the bullpen in both leagues Rodon is a decent 5th starter but just a placeholder for Crochet or Kopech Cease wins 13 or 14 Dallas does well our bullpen with Tony will be the envy of baseball I’ve waited for a season like this since 2006
-
Hector is full of shit. Cruz is not coming to the Sox. He stays up north and torments us for another season. Odorizzi would be nice as a #4 or #5 until Cease, Kopech or Stiever is ready, Lopez is long relief with Cordero. We have a powerhouse lineup with or without Cruz. Cruz or Ozuna would be great as DH’S Odorizzi would give us 4 Starters that could eat innings. If we get to the 7th inning with a lead, it’s game over with Huer, Foster, Fry, Bummer and Hendriks, it’s lights out. 3 studs as starters is great, and a good #4 is great!!! Cease, Lopez and Kopech could fight it out for #5. I don’t listen to Gomez posts anymore. He’s full of shit.

Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)

Agree, Wainwright is an option but I would only do 1 year. -
Dodgers sign Bauer (3/102, opt-outs, 40-45-17)
AJ'S Cousin replied to Jose Abreu's topic in The Diamond Club
Wake up everyone!!! Bauer GONE. Mets making a godfather offer, more than Cole Is making. We missed on Musgrove, Q, Kluber and a few others. Not much left out there. We better hope Kopech, Cease and or Lopez grow up fast. Odorzzi or however you spell hiss name is left out there. Other than that it’s slim pickings. We need to rely on our guys and hope the develop. Maybe this new pitching coach can get these guys going. We still have a big 3 and if a #4 and #5 have to be by Committee so be it. We can still out hit must teams and have the best bullpen in baseball and we will win the central. We just need 5 or 6 innings out of our #4 or #5 starters and we’ll be fine -
Jose Quintana...Signs with Angels (1YR 8M)
AJ'S Cousin replied to YouCanPutItOnTheBoardYES!'s topic in Pale Hose Talk
Well we wait and wait, Musgrove gone, Quintana gone. Odorizzi is left out there. Do they go for him now?? Are we saving the money for Bauer? Cruz? Ozuna? Only time will tell if we roll the dice with Vaughn at DH, and hope Cease?Kopech or Lopez emerge. -
I’d give Bauer 35 million for 1 year just to beat the Yankees and Dodgers. Worth every penny, especially if they allow fans in the stands in the second half of the season. I don’t see fans in the stands before July 1st. Avenge 1959 and kick the Yankees ass.
