GT 6-4: Sox @ Rays (12:40pm)

Unnecessarily close for leaving Giolito in too long, and not piling in more runs after the 2nd inning, even though we had 16 hits. -

It’s TLR madness. No win is an easy win with TLR in charge. -

We have a deep reliever roster. Use them! Giolito should have been pulled out earlier in the 6 th. Before a below the Mendoza line 9 th hitter gets a 2 run homer. TLR needs to go. Any other manager in MLB with all his blunders would have been fired by now. -

Grandal error opened the gate. He should not have been playing at 1B in the first place and should not ever play 1B again for the Sox. -

Most blame to TLR not taking him out sooner. He was struggling, over 100 pitches. Aren’t we supposed to have a deep reliever group, where we spent a lot of money on? TLR has to go. Keeps making the same mistakes of leaving pitchers in too long over and over, you can’t count on at least two bad TLR decisions per game. Hard to overcome. -

This should be the last game ever that Grandal plays first base. He opened the gates. We neglected defense this game. Engel will probably caught that triple as well. Sox not piling runs after the 2 nd inning has hurt as well. -

He is converting wine as its ages to vinegar. He is not a good Bordeaux that gets better with age. -

There is also criticism about the stadium being in a bad location and of an outdated park. -

Noticed that as criticism of TLR has gone national as a geezer out of touch with bad decisions galore, his hair is getting darker, today is almost black. Is he looking to looking more youthful? -

Rays attendance along with Marlins are the lowest in the majors. Too many transplants with no local baseball traditions, and many other things to do like going to the beach, boating, partying, etc. -

Hope they didn’t pull him out because of another injury. -

Keep piling in the runs. Don’t take the foot off the pedal. -

TLR will give his boy Leury some reps to get him ready for the playoffs. -

Top 5 pretty good, no scrubs. No Leury, no Moncada, no Sheets -

Right on. They already gave us a 4 run crooked number 1st inning. Our lineup today is better than the usual Sunday lineup, with the exception of Harrison who is hitting 9th. Like Mendick leading off and Burger batting 5 th. No below Mendoza line Leury and Moncada in today. -
Takeaways from this game. 1. Saved by Burger’s homer. When we hit homers we have a good chance to win. 2. we continue to be a ground ball hitting machine. Not many homers or sacrifice flys. Frequent double play balls. 3. we refuse to take walks. Don’t work the pitching counts and allow opposing starting pitchers to go deeper into games. Hard to have a big crooked number inning when we don’t walk and hit mostly grounders and very few homers. 4. We were lucky to win this close game after Cease gave up 7 walks. Both Rays runs were scored by players who walked. 5. Mendick has been hitting the ball well. Mendick should hit lead off regardless. Leury not to hit lead off again. 6. when we can get the game to Graveman and Hendriks we are in good shape. We need to keep games close, and not punt with scrub relievers when we get a couple of runs behind. 7. Its good to see the Sox pinch hitting more often. As of two weeks ago, TLR had only pinched hit 5 times in the season, lowest in the majors.
-
This home plate ump was terrible , first with a very tight strike zone calling several strikes balls, and later on the game calling balls strikes.
-
When Hendriks can control the breaking pitches is lights out.
-
Burger needs to be rewarded for his game hitting homer and needs to play Sunday.
-
Because he is not a lefty.
-
TLR never adjusts. Matchups lefty- righty trumps everything including lefty hitting .150.
-
No more punted games and minimal resting until we right the ship.
