Our vaunted pitching was not good tonight either, giving up 12 runs. Every Cleveland hitter got at least one hit. Goodwin in the outfield is an embarrassment and a major liability. Vaughn D is not good either, but better than Goodwin.
You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to figure out that you did not spend millions to have both Kimbrel and Hendriks and then bring in Ruiz in the 8 th in a close game.
Should have brought Kimbrel in the 8th not the 9th. Wasn’t Hendriks available tonight for the 9 th inning? I thought we were going for a Nasty Boys type strategy Kimbrel in the 8th and Hendriks in the 9 th as needed. Certainly not pitching Ruiz in the 8th.
Need to have Engel in the outfield for his D as well as often as possible. Goodwin should not be playing in the outfield again. He probably cost us this game. His D is just atrocious.
Cubs can get away with rebuild and still get fans in the party park. But the Sox can’t. Sox need to put a good product on the field to get the big crowds.
Rickets bailed out after the pandemic cut back his revenues, and is counting on the party crowd to show up regardless of the product on the field. I think Marquee network audience will come down though.
Cubs are now basically a big party and beer fest team, not a contending team. They will have to watch out for the pandemic cutting back on crowds/parties.
Agree. We now have all these great relievers, but if we continue to leave many runs on the table and don’t score many runs, we are going to be behind the 8 ball at the end.
What also sucked was that both Sheets and Moncada took called third strikes with bases loaded. This is not going to cut it against the best teams, most of which got better at the trade deadline.
Sheets at bat was awful. Swung at 2 balls over his head and then took a third strike that had all the zone. Moncada also took a 3rd strike with the bases loaded. Hamilton swung at a ball over his head to KO as well. That is why I was not too thrilled to see Madrigal go. We need more guys that put the ball in play.
Keystone Cop defense by the Indians in the 8th. Looks like a team that has thrown in the towel and Franconia is out for the season as well. Minnesota traded Berrios and KC traded Soler, so our Division opponents are making it easier for theSox.
