It has been a major embarrassment tonight. It is a minor league game. The pop up falling between Carlos and Leury is AA ball at best. The Reese trade has proven to be a failure.
It’s true but still you need to be around the plate and not nibble so much with a three run lead. You can’t afford to issue walks with that lead. There is no defense against walks. Perez poor performance as catcher has also been bad.
Now on top of all our defensive and offensive woes, now our pitching has been failing, particularly the last two games. Getting progressively worse as we close out the season.
This season has proven that JR, the FO and TLR don’t give a crap about the fans feelings. They are all lawyers that probably never took a marketing course, and never learnt that the customer is always right is a good motto to keep your business growing and happy.
There is no outfield defense for homers. If we would have been hitting more homers, we take all these nice outfielders out of the equation. But with our ground ball offense and warning track power we put opponents outfielders in play.
The sad part was that it was a 0-2 pitch to a rookie batting below the Mendoza line. With no one on base. Hendriks had 4 chances to strike him out and threw him a hittable cookie strike. Bury a slider in the dirt or blow him out with heat just out of the zone. I don’t know who called for the breaking pitch but it was a bad blunder. Hendriks does not hang fastballs, but does hang curves and sliders.
One common denominator in Chicago pro sports lately has been bad GM/FO, starting with Bears drafting Trubitsky, Bowman bad trades with Hawks and firing coach Q, and Hahn bad trades and inaction to begin with.
Swung at ball four over his head. We could have brought Abreu up with the bases load. No guarantee but there was always the chance for a grand slam to get us back in the game. Same mistakes being repeated, double play balls, not taking a walk/ swinging at everything/not working the counts….I think we underestimate crappy teams like KC and DB and get ambushed.
