  1. Maybe TLR threw in the towel too soon in this game. It was pretty early still in the game, and He let VV put the game out of reach.
  2. And unless we have excellent pitching permitting less than 4 runs a game, we have no chance against teams like the Astros. We can’t come back from being down more than 3 or 4 runs with our lack of power, and our ground ball city station to station offense.
  3. We will probably settle for Giolito as #5 starter. Needs to adjust to more off speed pitches. That flat 92. Mph fastball in the strike zone is not going to cut it like we saw today.
  4. Sox give away home field advantage quickly to home run hitting teams.
  5. Looks like a good lineup, no Robert though. Would have preferred Harrison hitting 8 th or 9 th instead. He was awful yesterday.
  6. Harrison should be a more patient and selective hitter , but is not. He is too hyper to be patient, that is why he is called Big Energy. By the way he has not been hitting 9 th lately, hit 7 th yesterday.
  7. We should have been in first place with a more competent manager.. the many punted games and Sunday lineups have come back to haunt us. We have also wasted many well pitched games with the spotty Groundball city station to station ball with no change or adjustment. Still we are only 2 out and with our excellent pitching lately and some improved clutch hitting,, we are well positioned to fight for the division and/or wild card. We cannot afford to punt any more games, and need to play every game like a playoff game, and not pull anything back. Go for a win today win a sense of urgency and we will worry about tomorrow tomorrow.
  8. A good take away this week has been that we showed we can be competitive against the Astros. Should give us more confidence going forward.
  9. Lack of power/ no home runs is hurting us. Only excellent pitching keeps us in the games nowadays.
  10. Big Energy swinging at the first pitch with bases loaded after a walk to Grandal was costly. No clutch hitting tonight. No running game and several double plays also hurt. The bottom part of the lineup tonight is not competitive for a contender. Wasted another great pitching performance. Let’s get them tomorrow.
  11. Should have kept Madrigal. That Kimble trade was an unneeded bust.
  12. 4 ground ball outs including a DP with bases loaded for Josh tonight. Not going to cut it.
  13. Sheets is our best hope. Needs to hit in the 9th for either Josh or Romy and Sosa come in defensively if we go extras.
  14. That is why he needed to take that pitch because he could not hit anyway. No plate discipline shown in that at bat.
  15. No patience again. Everyone wants to be a hero. A walk would have been just fine. Even if they call it strike we would get the runners in motion on the next pitch. We need to make adjustments to our swing away, no patience mode. Selective take signs need to be used particularly with our scrubs and more impatient hitters.
  16. Indeed. Another DP in the making otherwise. No hit and run or steal again. TLR doubling down on no running game again.
  17. We seldom hit and run or try to steal, and we are a Groundball city team, you figure it is a formula for double play city as well. We make no adjustments.
  18. No running game in this inning another double play. Had 2 fast runners on base, no hit and runs or steal attempts against a ground ball pitcher. Might as well had Romy bunt instead and have a man on second. TLR not aggressive today.
  19. Cleveland has scored 5 runs after 3 potential outs in the 8 th with a third strike out of the inning and runner makes it to first on a wild pitch. Don’t count on a Tigers victory tonight anymore.
  20. Too bad he was not hitting 9 th today. Three ground ball outs including a very costly double play. Swinging at everything. I am afraid we will need a home run from one of our top guys. Hard to win station to station without slow runners and getting to rally killers Harrison andEngel.
  21. Right. You would also help Harrison from himself. He has been too impatient and swinging at everything. Put more pressure on the pitcher if you take a first pitch and is a ball.
  22. We were doing well not swinging at the curve ball. Grandal takes a four pitch walk loading the bases, and Big Energy comes up next and swings at the first pitch and hit into a double play. I would have given Harrison the take sign on the first pitch. But we never give a take sign. Must be a TLR unwritten rule.
