If JR would give up baseball power and simply take a back seat to the majority ownership, he wouldn’t be able to take credit for a baseball resurrection. Either way it went with the baseball he won’t be having the opportunity to take any credit for a position outcome. But that’s how strong his craving for approval really is. Maybe you’re telling yourself that Crochet and Cease formed the core of a pitching staff to win with and build a team around. And that goes with Robert as well. But you’re ignoring the money and incompetence if you’re doing that.

I am a youth movement guy by default. But these are generalities. It depends who is running the youth movement. Either way you prefer to build, it doesn’t matter if the architects are Moe Larry and Curly. People like to claim there is an actual smarter way to go one way or another. But there isn’t.

This thread’s creation reminds me of scenarios in college late on a Friday night off campus party. Not being a smooth operator, almost everyone is gone, and my target(s) all told me in so many words..no. But I was still bound and determined to hit on what was left. Nobody has been panic buying Sox for awhile now. We keep thinking Getz isn’t getting enough vale selling low, but that assumes there is some significant rehabbed vale in the future for Sox players. Maybe the reality is that there is only marginal rehabbed value out there to be had.

I am positive Jerry feels embarrassed. But unfortunately he doesn’t feel humility, and lacks a self reflective gene. The guy still believes in himself, and seems to feel victimized by circumstances. The fool.

Certainly he would take pride if it was thought by him to be a barometer of the quality of his stewardship, which I have no doubt he does. His problem is, and always has been hubris and delusion about the quality of his stewardship.

He has carte blanche from ownership to tear it down yet again to the studs. Which Jerry said the last time that it had to be done, and done the right way even despite earlier concerns about Jerry not having much time left to live. The only catch is the “done the right way” part. I am from the camp that always wants to see a youth movement in Chicago, because the Sox version of paying veterans is paying meh veterans on affordable old school contracts and hoping for a treadmill team pop up sans superstars. Who likes that crap.
