  1. I mean, I can possibly understand JR has an attitude, but the fact that there would be no Sox upside to dumping a union rep, and that JR would take it that far out of spite would be surprising to learn
  2. Maybe Im not understanding, are the Sox known for union busting activities? The MLBPA isn’t going to be denied anything, Giolito or no Giolito. There are way too many powerful and interested parties on the players sides for the players to ever be denied anything as far as player rights these days
  3. Fair enough. Ill just add, my impression of TJ pitchers in their 30s returning to form is not good. Correct me if Im wrong. If the velocity is down, I’m not gonna be optimistic especially.
  4. I don’t think moot point is the right way to describe it exactly. Fatal flaw is better. The Sox in particular should be trading high on players, flipping for prospects and youth because other than the payroll blips, they seem big $ ticket item averse. If their scouting department can’t sign good prospects, then use other teams’ scouting departments.
  5. Other than a more fair percentage of revenue which the players have already gotten in recent times in all sports, every team has union reps, and its not a ‘problematic’ thing. More of an is what it is thing. From ownership perspective. The awesome return would be dumping his pus arm.
  6. I feel like Cueto is more likely to have a 3.35 ERA in 2023 than Clevinger.
  7. I don’t know Pedro or Colas at all, but I feel some kind of annoying platoon thing happening. That can also be Thanksgiving dinner reappearing for a final farewell
  8. This team needs to stop giving away young prospects if all they are getting is questionable mediocrity in return. f*** it. Lets stop doing these same things and expecting different results. *shouts at clouds *
  9. Still waiting for the day the Sox land people you don’t have to hold your nose to regard seriously as an exiting add. That’ll be the dayayay that I die.
  10. Don’t worry, Katz will fix his control problems right up with his golf gadget thingy.
  11. I don’t believe he has ever been a player that didn’t have his body prepared. The prep work focus he put into his fielding could have been questionable in some way. Because he has shown the ability to respond when it got way out of hand when pressed. Sadly he just might have become a physical availability risk as he moves through his physical prime now. By the way, the offseason workout videos are worth about an all day pass on the CTA with $5
  12. Folks are doing their best to prop up a flawed team. That’s understandable, but It’s desperation. Find another way without stabbing yourselves in the face.
  13. well, the Sox do also have their FRP too, that 6'9 pitcher FWIW. I don't know, they gotta clean up this first base catcher DH roster monstrosity FFS
  14. I will submit to you, that good baseball culture has little to do with aligned ethnicity with the manager. Otherwise it would be impossible to look across MLB and explain how outcomes have been possible. If this was the case for the Sox, then we have some bad players that need to be launched imo. But we Will agree to disagree.
  15. I’m guessing there was a collaborative realization of the divide with the fans, and that needs to be addressed. Pedro had the staged phone call with Eloy, but the lunch stuff was likely his own interpretation of how he wants to roll at this issue. And it may be perfectly natural for him to be out there in the streets with the fans like this. They can patch up the relationship, but I’m at the end of the day, the old man has left too many scars over the years on us to ever forget. There is a perception that JR has arrogantly thrown the last 2 seasons down the toilet. That’s the dark cloud that Pedro has to work under. Which he may be well suited for.
  16. wRC+ and wOBA I like, and I wonder how sacrificing power at 3B is sustainable if a team continues to struggle. Be that as it may, yeah walks. Pedro will be setting the energy example personally. That does seem to be the exact overall theme the team needs. They did show a different level of play when they realized the season was slipping away for sure. And then fell off a cliff when the math got impossible. Focus is a lot.
  17. Well that would be closer to the reason, yes. I am sure the player has to be self-motivated to play at his best however. Surely he must be embarrassed at his output, and at some point he will or won’t get tired of leaving something in the clubhouse if that’s what he’s doing. What his issues are, are a mystery. Covid? Expectations appear to be too high.
  18. Communication is important, but I don’t believe that the non Latinos had any problems understanding what Ozzie wanted when he was here. Quite frankly I don’t understand a good portion of what Ozzie is saying on TV, but I get exactly what he is saying. The point is, players might get an extra bit of joy playing for a manger they like, but the Latino part of the equation will wear off before spring training ends. If they like him, like playing for him, they’ll keep liking him no matter his ethnicity.
  19. People seem to want to assume that Moncada is going to revert to playing the way he did a number of years ago because Pedro speaks Spanish to him. Eloy is gonna stop crashing into Robert or something. Or Abreu will do something even more awesome. Or they have a championship roster, but just were failed by the manager. Or that Spanish speaking players aren't motivated by non Latino managers,. Tony failed because he let the players do whatever they wanted, and they weren't expected to hit the cutoff man. And the players themselves failed for whatever reasons. Probably overrrated. It may surprise this discussion, but MLB is filled with Latinos excelling under non Latino leadership.
