  1. Mully: The new guy wants to kick your ass, not preserve his hamstrings
  2. It’s great, but what do the analytics say about playing big lumbering outfielders, and signing mediocre utility guys to long term deals in lieu of real position players? This team has to answer to basic common sense first way before analytics. I have confidence and hope they will now. Well, mostly hope. I would get a ton more satisfaction if Hahn was as sharp as Pedro, and would indicate so. Pedro needs tools to employ. Newsflash to the Sox FO. YOU ARE NOT A CHAMPIONSHIP SQUAD. Get that delusional crap outta here and get to work building.
  3. We should all start talking like this. Pedro met a puppy Pedro ate french fries Pedro made a sandwich Pedro has a neighbor
  4. I just want to know what the tiny quality in Pedro was that Jerry liked, that was held Venn diagram style in common with the good judgment of the Sox baseball people.
  5. Good stuff to hear. Interesting that the Sox tossed experience out the window, but they seemed down to Ozzie as the alternative. I think experience is overrated in baseball anyway, the pace is so slow a manager has time to think things through, and the concepts are pretty basic at the end of the day. The only problem with lack of experience is the inability to judge their quality with confidence..
  6. We gotta know what happened in there. Also, Jerry liked him, so this is a discouraging tweet.
  7. Sure, why not. Hopefully the Sox don’t wait until only Ozzie is left in the green room. Because that would be the wrong way to hire Ozzie. That’s kind of why I don’t think it’s Ozzie. You can’t sell him if he’s like, an afterthought.
  8. The adverb I would use is thirsty. Not that I necessarily blame anyone for being thirsty at this point.
  9. If upset means he was who I was hoping they would hire, then yeah, upset. The whole thing that is bordering on absurd levels is the idea that Latin players need a latin manager so much that it determines ultimate outcomes the field. That’s what is being implied with the whole situation. Reminds me of how NBA players supposedly play better for black head coaches
  10. So far, not so much for the decision makers in the rooms with him
  11. We fell in love with Espada because he is a Latino that interviewed a bunch of times. Unless we knew more than that. Seemed like it. What we knew Im not sure however when pressed.
  12. I replied earlier, but to clarify the full thought, this is correct. Players are responsible for themselves. You cannot expect a Spanish speaking manager to get a guy to focus on improving and then improving. That is done on the player side. There is no need to be concerned about the latino manager getting this team to play better if they speak English a second language. These guys are good pros or they aren’t.
  13. Exactly. Hiring based on clown salvation is wagging the dog
  14. The Sox are driving the Ozzie thing with interviews. It would be stupid and twitter driven if there were no interviews.
  15. Its not going to be Ozzie, Greg. The Sox are likely not going to make anyone happy about any one thing.
  16. Sort of. But OTOH, to hell with them if they need a latino manager to perform. And Im done worrying about catering to players that don’t perform
