  1. I’m not optimistic, but I do belive some needed changes would be pushed over the edge, like Cairo possibly in for Tony. Hahn needs a boost in order to slay s other sacred cows too, if he is so inclined. It’s the only hope, so I embrace the silver lining.
  2. It should not be mutually exclusive to feature speed and defense next to power.
  3. Too bad Abreu wasn’t traded while they had the chance. Still can hopefully dump Moncada. Move Eloy to DH full time, get speed and defense into the outfield. If Andrus stays, move Anderson to second base. Begin prioritizing speed, defense, and smart baseball.
  4. He should have been traded when that window was being talked about. The White Sox were too sentimental. At some point this rebuild stopped cold , and they decided it was time to take receipts. Clearly too early.
  5. :opens can of worms. Closes can of worms:
  6. I think that’s true. Absolutely true. However, going back to the Bears example, Tony LaRussa is this year’s Matt Nagy. They have had different careers, but like the Bears had seen, everything outside of the Sox bubble is focused in on TLR as a clown, and like it got through to George McCaskey somehow, it might also get to Jerry. And like Ryan Pace (another oddball operative), Rick Hahn can get caught in the net as well. At least, I hope. Although Hahn is not in Pace’s league as a dysfunctional weirdo. So anyway, you know, George somehow got it right with his new hires (imo). Maybe Jerry like George both can learn in old age to get out of the way and stop trying to outsmart everyone else.
  7. I'll just say that I had zero faith that George McCaskey would have done what he has done. If ther Bears look like their trajectory is very optimistic, that's also the kind of peer pressure we need. A local example. I do like what Lillian said: Tempting
  8. Or is it to miss the playoffs to force fundamental change?
  9. I think the list is probably longer, but I wouldn't feel very comfortable with $20 on that parlay
  10. anybody can play Torkelson at first base by the way. Lets see him in the outfield.
  11. Ken Rosenthal catches the horse after barn door closed
  12. Caught the tail end of Stoney on WSCR just now. Lots of excuses (injuries) and defense of Tony.
  13. It doesn’t even matter if he was the problem or not. Dropping him into that clubhouse at this moment in time is just ignorant of the current environment. Theres no point to it.
  14. If he comes back, I guess I won’t have to feel sorry for him anymore. (While he collects millions ruining my team and his own health voluntarily)
  15. Yeah, just messing with you. Generating the optimism, good ?
  16. Certainly. My point is, “ Good team on paper” is something people will still say even as they fall short of the fallacy. Its time to face tge real quality of the core. It WAS a good team on paper. Everyone better drop that, even if accompanied by the qualifiers. Stop overrating them, it wont be fixed if the perception still endured that this is a good team on paper. That’s dead. Its a mediocre team on paper.
  17. That idea should be getting reviewed.
