  1. To expect people to welcome a player signing who plays in the event that the frontliners are hurt, is not fair to expect. People would be happy about Garcia signing after the holes are plugged with real ballers. Which again, a Garcia signing probably wouldn’t even happen in that event. Which is the gnawing fear. That it possibly means the Sox aren’t optimistic that the real ballers are arriving. A Garcia signing just to cover for injured front line players is something a team does where money is no object. Usually nominal type utility guys are brought up for that stuff. It’s fairly easy to find nominal backups.
  2. And people call me gloomy. But the injury history is def real. I don’t think a FO will outlay millions up front based on forcasting a lot of injuries though. More to it than that Id reckon. To specifically address the contention however, one might think a Garcia signing after a Semien and RF signing would be a luxurious Yankees type spree
  3. Let’s reverse engineer this. If the Sox signed Semien or Escobar, and an everyday legit RF, would Garcia still be signed here for 3 years? Gotta believe things are not real optimistic in the war room, based on this signing.
  4. FWIW Fegan relayed what the Sox told him. Fact of fiction or something in between, you decide.
  5. Spent it for a guy that’s gonna play a lot. Why he plays is the big question. And why they think here in Nov that he’s gonna play a lot. Maybe they expect continuing to fail this winter. Maybe trading Kimbrel is their only best remaining plan.
  6. Maybe. Id say the Sox degree of pressing need is an order of magnitude higher.
  7. Do they need a right fielder and a second baseman?
  8. One can say the timing of it doesn’t matter, but they don’t appear to be prioritizing more important things. This is the kind of stuff big time clubs do later
  9. Males me nervous that he was brought back in as a hedge against failure to acquire other players. Like, are they going to allow failure?
  10. It would be great if we fielded a team of DHs. I think we can do it.
  11. Agreed. But eh, rather spend the money elsewhere than Conforto, given Vaughn and Sheets.
  12. The Sox are going to give this guy a shot at some point. He’s the latest fast track guy https://mobile.twitter.com/whitesox/status/1458163335749328909?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^tweetembed|twterm^1458163335749328909|twgr^|twcon^s1_&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fd-6272780611530284409.ampproject.net%2F2110212130002%2Fframe.html
  13. Heyman was coming up on WSCR, and Mully and Haugh made a point they would ask him about the comment, which is all I have on it. Job took me away from the radio
  14. Apparently Getz said Romy has a chance to get the 2nd base job next season . That’s not real encouraging as far as ambitious planning. Anyway, Yolbert Sanchez appears to be more talented.
  15. I can't even imagine this team if we kept all the young talent that has come through this organization. They might have had to cancel the league because ...what's the point? If the Sox would outlaw prospect trades for veterans going forward, that might be a good beginning for an organic recovery from the hamstringing that the suits like to do to the squad.
  16. I think you can trade the prospect types for other equal prospect types. What you don't do is sell low on them for some mediocre veteran. My God stop that stuff with this franchise. Or you trade Vaughn because you can get full value for him. Trade veterans at full value for once, instead of constantly selling low and losing
  17. They will run thru walls but will they run well on the basepaths and hit the cutoff man?
  18. Lets get another left fielder/DH. Struggles against LHP so is likely a platoon guy to boot. I wish we could stop with this type of player. Sure, if we are replacing Eloy, fine. But please someone get this team a legit right fielder ffs.
  19. there’s no cap. They made a mistake. They can pay for it if they wanted to. And they should. Replace Madrigal with another asset. Considering the extra sized amount of stupidity that went into this from all angles, they should not walk away from fixing the self inflicted damage of they don’t have to, as much as possible.
  20. I’m hoping to hope the Sox will prioritize talent over losing the money in any case, considering losing Madrigal for zero payoff. They gotta suck this up
  21. Disagreement with LaRussa. Intent doesn’t matter and they should have come out of the dugout and would still be fighting this morning if he was out there. I agree, it is time to protect this guy. As I paraphrase for Ozzie…..’ they can’t be family without protection for the big guy’. Whining to umpires doesn’t make it anymore.
