  1. Disagreement with LaRussa. Intent doesn’t matter and they should have come out of the dugout and would still be fighting this morning if he was out there. I agree, it is time to protect this guy. As I paraphrase for Ozzie…..’ they can’t be family without protection for the big guy’. Whining to umpires doesn’t make it anymore.
  2. He needed to get kicked in the teeth for not learning his lesson the first time. He’s done some good things, but you don’t go all in on this particular team at this particular moment. If he was a better GM with a better grasp on his team would have recognized this was il-timed. So good, be glad it only costed Madrigal at this point. Rick might actually have his tail between his legs this time instead of making another disingenuous joke about being a jackass.
  3. FaIr enough. Right word should be ‘minimal’. But I do believe there would be qualifiers on how much is guaranteed. There will be a team option.
  4. He’s pretty much back to square 1 on another minimum deal for a year. Maybe a team option year 2 if more money is paid.
  5. Depends what you aquire. I intend to get faster, better fundamentals, baserunning, and smarter with MLB talent that fills needs next season. A few prospects on the side is nice, but not the goal. I would come put of this with a complete well balanced young outfield. But you have to give to get, and everyone is not always happy about the changes. I get it.
  6. But it’s not just about one playoffs series.
  7. So they drafted a reliever with the 11th pick or whatever? The hell?
  8. Better is not adequate. Its just too much ground to cover for Robert. You’ve got to increase speed, defense, baserunning. Vaughn can conceivably be a replacement level defensive outfielder at best in right, probably better in left. Eloy is a problem.
  9. Crochet? What for? The Sox do specialize in selling low on young players though
  10. What do you do with a “left fielder” who doesn’t want to DH, and a real left fielder (Vaughn) that has to play every day?
  11. The way he went out was the only way for him to return, so that’s good. He can try out for Kuechel’s spot. But it will be a pretty strong competition. Hopefully the Sox can find a team to pay some of DKs salary. I don’t expect them to buy a starter if they spend money on the outfield, so he’ll have a good chance.
  12. Mature adults take inventory and don’t ignore their shortcomings is they can fix them. If the Sox don’t improve their defense, team speed and base running, they will remain immature. Some sacred cows may have to be slaughtered.
  13. We have 10 guys that can play FB, Vaughn needs a slot, and Eloy is a man without a position. The Sox have to maximize their assets and direct them to fill holes.
  14. The real team is the post ASB team. There is no doubt about WS caliber. Bum slayers that cannot beat good teams or play on the road. rotation featured a guy with a dead arm and a guy who’s career should probably be over as a starter. They don’t play defense or run the bases. Mediocre bullpen. All you can say to the positive is the lineup is good and they have 3 solid starters
  15. trade Eloy, Abreu, Kimbrel, (maybe even *gasp* Hendricks) for prospects and a 2B or RF. Move Moncada to second or RF and bring up Burger. Stick Vaughn in left, Sheets at first, and rock and roll. Time to retool, it doesn't work
  16. Welp, we know tongues will be wagging over at ESPN over that. Which is nice
  17. He’s trying. Its not like he complained about the eighth innings. He gave it all he had. I never actually heard of closers being resented for having such limited abilities. Anyway, a good manager is supposed to put their people in the right situations to succeed. People are referred to as individuals for a reason. They are different. Craig Kimbrel is not Ryan Tepera. Asking them to do each others jobs is reasonable if they could, but foolish if they can’t. It becomes the team’s fault if they keep hitting their head against a brick wall. Shaking out fist at God and Kimbrel wont do any good between the lines
  18. This is very much like the conversations I used to have with my first wife. yeah, I mean people are what they are. He was paid only to do the job he was doing. He’s not good at anything else. If that is difficult to accept, one may not last long as a GM constantly making decisions based on this philosophy. Don’t shove a square peg into a round hole and all that. If that sounds like a good idea, it is not. After “dont try to reinvent the wheel, and “don’t shove a square peg in a round hole” I’m tapped out.
  19. Sorry, not sorry i didn’t call the season over. But I just wanted to say sorry not sorry. Sorry.
