It has been said and seen that he can get pudgy. He looks in top condition though atm if these pictures aren’t an illusion. https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2022/3/7/22966398/light-tower-power-has-white-sox-juiced-about-oscar-colas

Hard to tell from one picture from the back, but Colas looks fit.

Until the exact reason for his drop in performance/measurables, I don't see how the Sox could do more than 1 year at a discount. If Rodon wants the Sox to roll the dice without solving the mystery, he has to compromise, a lot. Personally, I'm moving on from damaged goods, and looking to fill a rotation spot with something more dependable. A bad plan is to reserve a rotaion spot for a question mark if you have other options.

the new Madrigal?

History is not littered with guys like that. In Kelly’s case, adding fat will have to become the sole reason he is good, judging by his career to this point.

Fathoming Bauer not securing a job anywhere?

No? You don’t do bad things just because somebody asks you to. This is difficult? -
It looks like the Sox are not very ambitious at second base and right field. Years from now they still might be plugging in meh guys.

Ugh. Hahn seriously has to finally clear all this up. I feel like the DH/1B/RF gang is like a huge kidney stone the Sox have to pass.

The Sox have been carrying this guy for a long time for some unknown reason. Sure couldn’t be baseball abilities

I can’t remember what was wrong with the arm, the dreaded forearm injury. Maybe somehow hung on without actually tearing the ligament. But that was clearly the thing that sunk his career. I don’t quite recall either why he dropped in the draft, was it a bad senior year iirc? I do believe he was a high effort pitcher that was projected as an injury risk. Dare to say, I have worried about Crochet in a similar sense this past year. Although he has caught himself without losing much in terms of bottom line.

https://www.soxon35th.com/sox-in-the-basement-podcast-jake-burger-enjoys-a-good-troll/ Jake Burger, the troll. Part of me wants to believe he read the horror-filled responses on Soxtalk, and realized he went too far. But a true troll would consider that a job well done.

The hell is up with this team putting DHs and first baseman all over the field?
-
Moved quite well for a large man who is not a second baseman

Good grief

Vera throwing 99mph and grew an inch though?

Was he swinging like that in highschool? Swing looked flatter in hs I thought. Must be the angle

That’s how teams get the Wander Francos and Juan Sotos of the world. Granted they signed bigger deals. Not to mention he who shall not be mentioned.

Mets could shop McNeil, Sox could have interest

Then for me, Heyman is wrong. The Sox don’t seem like a fit. We don’t have enough young and cheap top talent to burn like that. The Dodgers, the Padres, they have enough to light on fire for a McNeil. Not the Sox. Lets recall that Hahn has been saying we want to maintain this for a very long time. You do that by maintaining a cheap and talented youth pipeline. Not selling it all off for a window. Not feeling it at all if folks are throwing Crochet etc on the bonfire. -
I was not that familiar with him, so I can accept some corrections on it. My search yielded that he was a utility guy. But he is 30, and at the risk of direct comparison, he does not seem like Kris Bryant. Therefore I would not be willing to part with our top young talent for him. We don’t need to desperately be doing Madrigal deals every season to try and improve. Kimbrel and some lesser names than Crochet would be fine.

These kinds of deals never go wrong for the Sox.

Thanks for the info. But short of permanent solutions filling holes, I don’t want to be trading names like Crochet here. If he was a young kid instead of entering his 30s, it might be more enticing to trade the best prospects. The Sox really need to stop with that stuff. If it ends up being a Kimbrel package, then whatever. But the Sox seem like they are on plans B and C at this point -
The McNeill thread inspired me to make sure that Santa knows that the Sox don’t belatedly for Xmas need any more first basemen, utility guys, DHs, and injuries. If he was still on the fence.
