6/8 Sox @ Yankees Doubleheader Game 2 6:35PM CT

Gets the leadoff walk that our regular leadoff hitter never, ever gets. -
Only way they do 4 divisions of 8 is if they break up the AL and NL and do a full on geographic realignment. Central teams will absolutely fight having division opponents on the west coast. SD, LAD, LAA, SF, OAK(LV), SEA, ARI, COL HOU, TEX, KC, STL, MIN, MIL, CHW, CHC NSH*, DET, CLE, CIN, PIT, ATL, TB, MIA MON*, TOR, BOS, NYY, NYM, PHI, BAL, WAS

JR and other owners of teams in the Central time zone fought for years to get out of divisions with west coast teams. They aren't going to go back. It will end up being 8 divisions of 4, just like the NFL.

Sox have a .668 team OPS over the last 30 days. Continuing to rely on strong starting pitching, a nearly-perfect bullpen and a couple hot hitters is not sustainable. If multiple hitters don't start reverting to their career averages, the winning won't continue.

Should they even play the last two games of this series?

There's this thing called wind. It blows air around in various directions and with various velocities. Recently, it's been blowing in a southerly fashion and sending all that smoke down to NYC. -

In the AL Central, not playing is a good strategy. Everybody else keeps losing and eventually you're in first place. -

Would that get his salary off the books? -
Cuban can't spend all his money on the Mavs because there's a salary cap. He can't offer players any more than any other owner. He does have the advantage of no state income tax in Texas, but he also has the disadvantage of trying to convince superstars, who are almost entirely black or European, to live in Dallas instead of New York, LA or Miami.

Sox OBP is 29th in MLB at .297, better only than Kansas City. If you're thinking these numbers were skewed by the horrible April, they are also 29th over the past 30 days, with an even worse .284. 26th in launch angle, 30th in O-Swing Pitching can't hold up long term enough to overcome this.

How much of this is coaching at the upper levels, how much of this is coaching at the lower levels, and how much of this is just acquiring guys who have better swing discipline? It seems like the Sox are a magnet for guys who won't stop swinging? It's lasted through several managers and hitting coaches now.

https://www.sportsmockery.com/chicago-white-sox/uh-oh-jerry-reinsdorf-is-making-moves-fans-may-not-like/ Sounds like we're getting a direct-to-consumer digital platform beginning in 2025. I wonder if this might impact the decision on whether or not to sell at the deadline knowing that they have to start "earning" subscribers.

Hoping someone can help me understand this better. Here's what I know: US government spends more than it takes in. Has to borrow in order to do this. There is a law that limits how much debt the US government can incur. If this limit is reached, then the government must stop spending more than it takes in. How exactly would that work? Who decides what spending continues and what spending stops? I hear the word default but does that actually mean defaulting on debt payments or can that mean something else?

I'm not saying that Rick Hahn doesn't need to go, but he drafted/signed/acquired Moncada, Anderson, Vaughn, Jimenez, Robert, Grandal, Giolito, Cease, Giolito, and Kopech, and if all of those guys performed to their ability this would be a 95+ win team. How much can we really say is on him that these guys have been injured and/or underperforming?

Past time to get Anderson out of the top of the order

Moncada/Benintendi, Benintendi/Moncada, either one is better than having Anderson up there. -
Garfein: Tim Anderson hates pitch clock, not Chicago

Get him out of the leadoff spot already! -

TA also appears to hate getting on base, or hitting for power. -
I don't agree that Burger has closed the gap at 3rd. Moncada is a superior fielder to the point that it makes a difference. He's also a lefty/switch bat and a guy who reliably supplements his OBP by taking walks, both scarcities on this team. Eloy, if anybody, is the one who needs to get moved, especially if he can't handle playing RF regularly.

Highest chase rate in the MLB with the worse bullpen in MLB
CentralChamps21 replied to harkness99's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Bullpens are fickle, especially with your #1 guy out, so I'm not reading too much into those numbers. The hitters have been this way for a long time, through multiple hitting coaches. I can't imagine they're being taught to be such free swingers. I just think there are several guys who just can't seem to learn to lay off pitches (especially sliders) outside the zone. Eloy, and especially Robert, need to be hitting much lower in the order until they learn.
