The Los Angeles Angels translates to The The Angels Angels and no team with such a stupid name deserves to win. -
So I've read comments from a lot of ignorant people saying that it doesn't matter if case counts shoot up now because the people most likely to get really sick or die are vaccinated. People completely lack the understanding that the more this virus spreads, even to people it won't kill, the more likely it becomes that we will get a vaccine-proof variant and then we're all screwed.

Taking it away from Georgia because of restrictive voting laws passed by Republicans and then giving it to the kids of the RNC Finance Chair would be very odd.

Probably safe to say at this point that Atlanta is out of the running for future Super Bowls and Final Fours as well. Things would get very interesting if enough golfers banded together to put pressure on the Masters.

What we learned from Opening Day
CentralChamps21 replied to Look at Ray Ray Run's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Surprised? No Disappointed? Yes -
If Leury has to play LF a few times until Engel is back, that's fine, but he should never, ever bat anywhere other than 9th and try to get him in vs LHP.

My dad did this. We lived in the SW burbs and he was commuting an hour each way to the Loop on top of working 9-10 hour days. He hated it. When I was 14, he quit to go into business for himself. We had to sell the house and move to a less expensive (and far less taxed) house in NW IN. It was a tough adjustment but he's been a much more present and happy person since the move.

A team with this much power shouldn't be trying to steal so much. Somebody has got to teach these hitters how to recognize and lay off sliders. Luis Robert is going to be another Adam Engel if he never learns this. Leury Garcia should never, ever bat 6th. Collins shouldn't DH until he proves he can hit. -
2 hrs, 25 min to play 5 innings. In the cold.

The ancient Miguel Cabrera with the seasons first home run. -
That sounds like a lot for one channel. Are you tied to Dish Network? There are plenty of other options.

Mets-Nationals postponed due to COVID. Not sure which team. -
Garcia is so bad batting left that he should essentially be considered a RH hitter at this point. Even if you decide to have him in the lineup for defense or whatever reason, I can't think of any good reason to bat him 6th. He'll kill at least one good rally there.

White Sox are still a World Series Contender
CentralChamps21 replied to vilehoopster's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Sox ownership/management put together a team that has the ability to win the World Series if everything goes right. The problem is that because of some excellent trades and extensions over the past few years, they were in a position to put together a team that doesn't need everything to go right to win the World Series, and failed to do so. -

I don't think the extra game is automatically going to be Week 18. -
Boldest part of that prediction is the Tigers staying close enough that the Sox need to use their closer.

If you live in the "Chicago home market" which is most of IL, most of IN, all of IA and small parts of WI, Sox (and Cubs) games will be blacked out on MLB Extra Innings. You can only see Sox games (other than those broadcast nationally by ESPN, MLBN or FOX) on Comcast Sports Net Chicago. If your standard package does not carry that channel, you may have to pay for a sports tier that carries it. If you live outside of the "Chicago home market", games will be blacked out on CSN Chicago and will only be available on MLB Extra Innings. Whatever games the Sox play against whatever team(s) home market you are in will be available through their regional sports network.

Vaughn leads the Sox in walks Moncada leads the Sox in all 3 triple crown categories Twins finish in 3rd place Cubs finish in 4th place At least one of Bryant, Rizzo, Baez, Pederson, and Arrieta finish the season on the Sox

Now that we are increasing the number of standings-based opponents from 2 to 3, how about this idea: If a Wild Card reaches the Super Bowl, they take over the 1st place schedule from their division winner. Seems fairer if TB has to play the 1st place schedule instead of NO. -
Hitters are taking more pitches, which has generated an increase in the number of pitches per plate appearance which means more pitches per game. Need more pitchers to throw the added pitches.
