Tens of millions voted for Trump, but they're sheep. If the 2024 Republican nominee says that Trump was a piece of shit, the tens of millions will have signs saying that Trump was a piece of shit.

There are so many unconfirmed people acting as Department heads right now I'm not sure anybody knows whether or not invoking Section 4 of the 25th Amendment would even be legal at this point.

I think we're reached a point where Conservative has become a proxy for pro-Trump. There are plenty of conservatives who were never on board with Trump or got off pretty quickly, but they're now labeled as RINOs or moderates. John Kasich is pretty conservative and he never bought into Trump. Jeff Flake is pretty conservative. There are others, but Trump had such control of the party that they weren't able to keep or seek elected office. Those people will be back eventually.

Never thought I'd see the day that it was more likely the Bears could win a playoff game 30-27 than 20-17, but here we are.

Something I'm genuinely worried about--how much ability does Trump have to prevent the military, FBI, and other law enforcement from preventing widespread rioting on the 20th? Would it be wise to schedule Biden and Harris to get sworn in in different cities?

Old: Mega Hendriks Speculation Thread

If only there were other things going on in this country to distract us from the lack of baseball activity. -
Wow, so I didn't thing about this until just now, but after people stormed the Capitol in order to kill Mike Pence and the proceedings eventually resumed, one of the 100+ Republicans who kept fueling the fire by voting to reject the Pennsylvania electors was . . . GREG PENCE!

The manufacturer and distributor for your golf shop likely have hundreds, if not thousands of retailers that they make money from by selling the product, so they don't need to put any more pressure on the golf shop owner then he's putting on himself. If you're selling Amway the first couple people up the chain don't have a lot of people making them money so they're putting more pressure on you to sell. That is what some might interpret as predatory. I don't think of it as predatory and don't think it should be outlawed, but it's most definitely different than standard retail.

The public portion of the internet is that anybody can get their own domain name and use it however they want. Nobody has a right to use a domain name that someone else owns. Just because Facebook has a billion users and Soxtalk has a thousand (or whatever, I'm guessing) doesn't make them inherently different.

Re: "All cops" Go back and read the quotes from the head of the Chicago FOP. Then think about how he has to get voted into that position by a majority of Chicago's cops. Then think about how the head of the Hammond FOP said something similar. Of course it isn't "all cops" but it's enough of them that they are ascending to leadership positions. As for the Capitol police, I'm sure some were more than happy to let the mob in, but I'm guessing that there are also plenty who knew that the Feds had refused to send backup and just let them in to save themselves, and I don't blame them.

Michigan just reached a deal to let Ohio State win the Big Ten through at least 2025. -

Yes, the size of the House is set by legislation. The only constitutional restriction is that each state get no more than 1 Representative per 30,000 in population but it would have to be bigger than 10,000 to violate that so they can effectively make it any size they want.
-
Need to significantly increase the size of the House of Representatives in order to combat that. Might be the single most beneficial thing the Democrats could do given the doors it would open.

I was reading back through this thread from the beginning and this was the winning prediction.

There are still plenty of good high leverage guys. This move wouldn't lead to more innings by Cordero or anything like that. -
Old: Mega Hendriks Speculation Thread

If the Sox didn't already have a couple guys capable of taking over at closer, I'd care more about landing Hendriks, but shit, just move on to Colome or Hand at this point. I'm 100% confident in Bummer taking over as closer if Colome/Hand falter. -
Nikki Haley 1) Never openly critical of Trump so acceptable to his base 2) Got out early enough to not be tagged with all of Trump's failings 3) A female and a minority so much harder to get away with smearing her without it backfiring

Gee, why didn't I think of that?

The policies aren't the Democrats' problem--it's the messaging. Policies are not a zero sum game--helping the poor, disadvantaged, and minorities in most cases is also beneficial for white working class people but the Democrats have failed to make that case and Republicans have convinced them that giving anything to others equals taking away from them.

If Rodgers had been drafted in the Top 3 by a team with a shitty OL, he may very well have flopped just like those others.

Alabama and Ohio State QBs have a history of looking great in college and fizzling out in the NFL. I wouldn't take him #2.

Trump truly only cares about himself and will adopt any position that will get him power, however, specifically relating to Christians: The "suburban megachurch" wing of Christianity has ingrained into their members that maximum effort in overturning Roe v Wade is the one and only litmus test for true Christianity. If you are willing to appoint three justices who will overturn Roe v Wade, the divorces, infidelity, swearing, policies that make life more difficult for the poor, are all acceptable tradeoffs.

Been to GRF, Coors Field, Oracle Park, Dodger Stadium, Great American Ballpark and Yankee Stadium. One of these years, I plan to do a huge summer road trip and hit lots of ballparks.
