8/9 Game 1 GT: Sox at Royals - Lynn vs. TBD (Tue 310CT)
CentralChamps21 replied to ChiSox59's topic in 2022 Season in Review
Tuesday is a DH and he's eligible to play the 2nd game. It is a bit strange that he'd fly from Dallas to Chicago just to be home for one day before flying to KC. -

Usually every position player gets at least one start in a DH. Sosa will likely get a start at either SS or 2B Sheets will be in place of Eloy or Robert for one of the games Catchers will split the two games Engel might be the one guy who doesn't start. a game. -
There's 8 guys on this team underperforming. How did you determine that he is the cancer and not any of the other 7?

I also start my classes on the 22nd. My fourth semester as a full time student, though I'm classified as a senior.

I just wanted to add to this that physical issues are under the purview of the trainer, how he's coached is under the purview of the hitting coach, his confidence is under the purview of the manager, and all three of those people are under the purview of the owner and GM.

Here's why I don't buy the "Moncada attitude" argument He's playing A+ defense at 3B. If this were some kind of work ethic or attitude problem, his entire game would suffer, not just his hitting. It's either a physical issue, an issue with how he's being coached, a confidence problem, or some combination of those three.

I'm watching the opening weekend of the EPL. No baseball today.

My guess is that TA's appeal is about to be heard or they're going to drop the appeal and begin serving the suspension.

Time to bring back protest threads.

Time to get TA off the banner. Go back to the blank one.

Old Sock Drawer, ex Sox player discussion
CentralChamps21 replied to elrockinMT's topic in The Diamond Club
So I went to a Chicago Dogs game last night. Some friends were going and a girl I like was also going so I decided to give it a shot (I did get a date with her but that's not why I posted this). Former Sox outfielder Charlie Tilson is still hanging on with an independent league High A/AA quality team at the age of 29. He went 0-4 and misplayed a ball in RF. He can't possibly think he's got a shot at getting back to the majors, can he? Also of note, their catcher is Brad Lidge's cousin. -
Cease AL Pitcher of the Month again
CentralChamps21 replied to Buehrle>Wood's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Current AL ranks for Cease: 3rd in fWAR (Gausman, Verlander) 2nd in ERA (Verlander) 3rd in FIP (Gausman, McClanahan) 1st in K/9 4th in HR/9 (Valdez, Gausman, Perez) -
So Menechino can ruin him like he's ruined everybody else? No, leave him at AAA until after Menechino is gone.

So I mentioned this in the thread where this conversation started but several years ago our family did a long weekend in St. Louis/St. Charles and the one thing I remember about St. Charles was a restaurant we ate at called Quintessential Dining and Nightlife because I thought it was such a cool name.

The most frustrating thing is that it's not like Hahn went out and assembled a team full of singles hitters. TA was a consistent 15-20 homer guy, Yoan hit 25 in 2019, Eloy hit 31 as a rookie, Jose has hit 30+ five times, Yaz had been a consistent 20-30 HR guy. They have all the power they need, they just need to figure out how to get it back. It's very unlikely that they all just happened to lose power at the same time. Much more logical explanation is that some combination of physical fitness and coaching has absolutely crushed this team's collective power.

To be fair the team quit first. -
I wouldn't expect to see anybody added for 2B. There's no real way to add a 2B without DFAing Leury, and I just don't see the Sox being willing to eat 2 more years of Leury's salary. If they can find a 2B who can also play RF, that might open the door to optioning Sheets instead of getting rid of Leury, but that leaves this lineup very weak vs RHP if Moncada and Grandal don't improve.

and here I thought they'd add at most WQV,000 jobs this month.
