  1. Then they should be selling. Either outbid the Twins or sell. Anything else is just awful.
  2. Sox should at the very least be outbidding the Twins for anybody they're in on.
  3. If the Sox traded Crochet and maybe one or two other guys to the Giants for Rodon/Pederson/Junis, would that give the Giants enough ammo to land Soto? EDIT: never mind, see that the SD trade is back on.
  4. I'd rather try to move Lynn, even if it means eating some of his salary.
  5. Cheap isn't quite the accurate word for it. Overall payroll is reasonable. It's just very badly misallocated. Too much invested in relievers, utility guys and 1B/DH playing out of position.
  6. As dissatisfying as not adding a bat might seem, the reality is that if at least three out of Moncada, Eloy, Robert and Yaz don't stay healthy and become more productive, adding one bat won't make the difference. If a 1-7 of Anderson-Moncada-Robert-Abreu-Jimenez-Grandal-Vaughn can't start producing more than 4 runs per game, adding Joc Pederson or Joey Gallo isn't going to put them over the top.
  7. Whether or not the rebuild is salvageable hinges on whether Eloy, Yoan, Luis, and to a lesser extent Yaz, can be healthier and more productive than they have been over the past year and a half. If the training/coaching staff is what's holding them back, then making those changes can save this rebuild. If not, and these guys are damaged goods at this point, then this team is going to have a lot of money tied up in average hitters for quite a while.
  8. Not a major deal, but does involve a division rival: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/08/braves-to-acquire-robbie-grossman-from-tigers.html
  9. Would acquiring better hitters today even matter if they're going to be coached by Menechino?
  10. Obvious move now is Leury to CF, Sheets to RF and Vaughn to 2B.
  11. McGuire was about to be DFA, so getting someone with a positive WAR is a win.
  12. The downside to this move is if Bummer comes back it probably pushes Banks down to AAA when Banks has been considerably better than Diekman this year.
  13. Diekman was wearing #31 for Boston (Hendriks), and previously has worn #35 (retired - Thomas), #40 (Lopez), #41 (available), and #63 (Foster) so we'll see if he goes with 41 or picks out a new number.
  14. Can't have 14 pitchers on the roster so Martin will have to go down to AAA. Opens up a position player spot until Luis is ready to come back. Perhaps we get Haseley back for a few days?
  15. McGuire traded for someone named Diekman. That joke writes itself.
  16. When you say 'he' are you referring to Luis or Tony? Or both?
  17. No, don't trade with Oakland. We always lose trades with Oakland
