  1. Yeah the best fit for a guy with splits like his is the Sox. Don't care what he hits vs LHP. Plenty of guys have that covered.
  2. Wong has an .846 OPS vs RHP. Definitely an upgrade. If Harrison stays hot, he can always play some OF if they end up not getting Gallo or Joc.
  3. The Sox tried to trade for Ohtani much in the same way I tried to get a date with a supermodel. There was never really any chance to begin with.
  4. There's also already one spot open on the 40 and either McGuire or Zavala almost certainly gets traded or DFA by tomorrow.
  5. Don't we have a few connected people here? Haven't heard anything from any of them.
  6. Is there a precedent for a team leading their division by 3 games trading away an elite closer?
  7. Someone (didn't catch his name) on MLBN saying that the Giants are interested in getting Soto even though they're also looking to move veterans with expiring contracts. Anybody that Washington would be interested in that we could ship to SF for Rodon + Joc that they could use as part of their package to get Soto?
  8. We could, potentially, get the entire projected Opening Day lineup for the first time this season: Anderson 6, Moncada 5, Robert 8, Abreu 3, Jimenez 7, Grandal 2, Vaughn DH, Pollock 9, Harrison 4 We probably won't, because even if Robert gets activated, the odds of TLR leaving both Sheets and Leury out of the lineup vs RHP is pretty close to zero, but the possibility at least exists.
  9. I think Kopech goes to the bullpen for a month or so to limit his innings, but then you want him built back up for the playoffs so at some point, the worse-performing of Lynn or Giolito goes to the pen. I hate the idea of giving up something of value for someone who's going to be a FA at the end of the season, but on the other hand a playoff rotation of Cease-Rodon-Kopech-Cueto sounds really, really nice.
  10. It's always a safe bet that your best pitchers will get a little bit worse and your worst pitchers will get a little bit better, but xFIP is just saying that having a low HR/FB rate is luck and completely ignoring exit velocity and launch angle data. It's the pitching equivalent of saying that the Sox hitters are unlucky that they keep flying out to the warning track when the reality is the reason they aren't hitting homes is they aren't pulling the ball. They got used to being able to go oppo for homers and haven't adjusted to the new ball.
  11. I'm not a fan of xFIP. I find the justification for adjusting from FIP to be questionable.
  12. Not interested in anybody that can't fucking spell Michael correctly.
  13. So if the Sox were going to keep him he was going to go on vacation but if he was going to another team he wanted to put in the work. That's essentially what this is saying.
  14. Maybe that's who they thought they were offering 3 years/$15.5 million but the offer went to the wrong Garcia.
  15. If it's really going to get wild then sit this one out. Maybe pick up a reliever if you can get a decent one without parting with top prospects. Don't overpay for anyone not named Soto or Ohtani.
  16. Guaranteed to be 2 GB by dinner. . . if you're willing to go on a very long hunger strike.
  17. That's the frustrating thing, if the Sox can find a little bit more offense and win the division, Cease-Cueto-Kopech give them a chance to beat anybody in the postseason.
  18. Ozzie's the only one who's telling it like it is.
  19. If the Sox trade for Laureano mid-game, does his homer count for us then?
